Michael Beasley has enjoyed a renaissance season of sorts for the Knicks this year. The soon-to-be 30-year-old is on a one-year minimum deal and has already begun to think of his future beyond the 2017/18 season, Marc Berman of the New York Post writes.
Beasley has bounced around to six different teams in his career. Prior to the Knicks’ loss to the Warriors earlier this week, Kevin Durant — Beasley’s former high school teammate — raved about Beasley’s skill set and said he would like to team with him in Golden State. Instead, Beasley said that he is focused on the Knicks and settling down in one place for the rest of his career.
“One thing I do think about it is me being tired of moving — having a long-time home,’’ Beasley added. “I don’t want to move anymore.’’
In 41 games (seven starts), Beasley has averaged 12.8 PPG and 5.0 RPG for New York. As the Knicks prepare for the February 8 trade deadline, the team’s moves, or lack thereof, could be an indicator of where Beasley fits into future plans.
Check out other Knicks news and notes below:
- Joakim Noah has taken a leave from the team, citing personal reasons, and is expected to miss the Knicks’ next two games, Berman relays in a separate story. With Kristaps Porzingis and Kyle O’Quinn missing the Knicks’ contest against the Warriors on Tuesday, Noah only played briefly in the fourth quarter. Noah has appeared in just seven games this season as the Knicks have managed a surplus of players at the center position.
- While acquiring Kemba Walker would be an instant upgrade, the Knicks should not swing a trade if it means giving up young talent or draft picks, Tommy Beer of Basketball Insiders writes. Walker, a New York native, has enjoyed some historical performances at Madison Square Garden; he was also one of just four players in 2016/17 to average at least 23 points, five assists, and three treys made per game. But Walker alone does not solve New York’s issues and is therefore not worth a significant package of picks and talent, Beer opines.
What would it take for the bucks to trade for Kemba?
They just traded for Bledsoe. Pretty much out of the question.
Bledsoe can play the 2
And so can Middleton. Don’t think Bledsoe is going to replace him there…
Middleton has spent more time at the 4 this year than the 2
The lineup could be Kemba, Bledsoe, Middleton, Parker, Giannis. Yes, Giannis isn’t a Center, but he can be a Center like Draymond is a Center. Plus Parker will come off the bench for the majority of the year it sounds like. It could also go Kemba, Bledsoe, Middleton, Giannis, Henson/Thon/someone else.
So trading Brogdon + ? How tall is Baby LeBron [bledsoe] 6’2 or 6’3?
It would take Brogden or Bledsoe and a pick. Just because their are Walker rumors does not mean he’s being given away.
And Brogden wouldn’t be a go because salaries don’t match, Hornets would have to take other money like Snell.
I’m 100% for Beasley taking the Knicks money and being terrible for the rest of his contract. It’s what they deserve honestly. James Dolan you suck
Blazers get Dwight Howard, Kemba Walker, Markelle Fultz, and Sixers 2017 Top-15 protected, Charlotte Top-15 protected 2018.
Hornets get Damian Lillard, Redick, Booker, Johnson.
Sixers get CJ McCollum, Batum, and Leonard.
My head exploded.
Good trade machine exercise, but 1. there’s no way that much salary moves in a trade that doesn’t make any of the 3 teams better and 2. the Blazers aren’t trading Lillard or McCollum, let alone both of them in the same trade
Plus seriously who wants Leonard. Like waive and stretch that contract already, you’re ok with paying Andrew Nicholson to not play but you want to give Meyers $10 mill a year to not play? Smh he’s a 7 foot tall cheerleader
I think it had the Sixers coming out +1/2 games.
If Lillard bolts, how long before CJ wants to go? He’s a Lehigh product too, lots of fans from Philly already.
Leonard is a stiff on that team, hes actually not bad as a role player since he can hit 3s. His per numbers are pretty good too.
Sixers can’t trade a 2017 pick and if was to be a 2018 not sure that’s possible. Think that’s already out there or their 2019 is so earliest is a 2020. And they aren’t giving up on Faulks when they waited out Embid and Simmons rookie seasons.
And still why do the Blazers blow up their team. And why does Charlotte give up Walker for Lillard who would bolt there for sure.
It’s works in the ESPN salary trader but none of those GMs are risking their jobs on that.
Z-A: Too bad about you head, because you’re going to have to bring in a fourth team.
Unless that’s just me, when I try a 3team trade!
