APRIL 16th, 4:19pm: Stackhouse is interviewing with the Knicks this afternoon, Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News tweets.
APRIL 15th, 2:13pm: New York is planning to meet with David Fizdale, Mark Jackson, and Jerry Stackhouse for the organization’s head coaching gig, sources tell Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.com. All three are expected to be in high demand this hiring season.
Mike Woodson is also on the Knicks’ radar, as they have received permission from the Clippers to talk to their former head coach. However, Woodson is not considered to be in the “top tier” of the organization’s initial candidates.
The Knicks have also set up a meeting with David Blatt, Wojnarowski adds (Twitter link). Blatt, who is considered one of the most successful coaches in European basketball history, took the Cavaliers to the NBA Finals during his only full season with the club.
The team fired coach Jeff Hornacek last week after just two seasons with the franchise. He finished his stint with a record of 60-104.
I’d like to see Blatt get another shot in the league, he got a raw deal in Cleveland.
All these coaches won’t help the Knicks. The easy choice for head coach is Metta World Peace hands down.
I’m glad to see Mike Woodson is on the list. This just confirms that Knicks management hasn’t gone off course of making crazy, idiotic decisions. The previous list of coaches just seemed too reasonable.
Mark Jackson is the man for the job.
Unless bringing in Blatt or Fizz gives them a chance at landing Lebron James.
They should also try to lure Coach K,
with the state of CBB’s future in jeopardy now maybe the time for him to make the jump to the NBA.
1. LeBron James will never play for the Knicks.
2. Coach K will be at duke. If he is worried about the state of CBB he would retire not go to the NBA. Try a younger college coach if that’s the case.
I would love to see Mark Jackson coach the knicks
Out of these guys, Jackson doesn’t look so bad.
At least he’s young and (maybe) hungry. But he’d have to have a longer term perspective and be more of a team player than he reportedly was in GS. But he may have learned from that experience.
Blatt? Woodson? Are you kidding me?
Knicks priority #1 should be Jackson. #2 Jay Wright. #3 Fizdale. Then maybe Blatt.
Jay Wright is probably a pipe dream. But man the Knicks need all the dreams they can get right now
1. Wright
2. Budenholzer (if they can jump in)
3. Fizdale
Stay away from: Jackson, Woodson, Van Gundy, World Peace, Hubie Brown, and Bill Belichick
i like marc jackson, but i also really like fizdale as a coach. fiz got high recommendations from d wade and lebron
It won’t matter who the Knicks hire. As long as Dolan is the top guy, MSG will continue to put on a great circus.
