Luka Doncic of Real Madrid, a potential lottery pick, has submitted paperwork to enter the 2018 NBA Draft, according to Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports (via Twitter).
Donic, 19, enjoyed his best season as part of Liga ACB, averaging 15.0 PPG, 5.2 RPG, and 4.7 APG for Real Madrid. The Slovenian is currently playing in the EuroLeague postseason. That means Doncic’s season could potentially drift into May or June.
The early entry deadline for the 2018 NBA Draft is Sunday.
The 6’7″ guard has long intrigued NBA teams due to his versatile ability to shoot and be a playmaker. There is a real possibility that Doncic is among the top three picks in the draft, if not the first overall selection.
No doubt top 2 pick. Ayton likely 1.
Top 20 player all time
Wally Szczerbiak Doug McDermott. I would not pick him in the top 10.
I dont see the comparison to those players at all…
6-8 players with a good skill level. Good Vision know how to find the open guy can dribble Drive handle the ball good teammate little too slow on defense, his guy can drive around him pretty easily.
Are you talking about those guys skillsets in college or the NBA, b/c that doesn’t describe what they did/do in the NBA, and again…he is a guard
Yes that’s exactly what I’m saying….. looks good before he gets to the NBA as well and I’m saying he won’t Fair as well as many think. He’ll wind up with a game like Wally or Dougie mcbuckets
Dude has way better handles and playmaking ability, and is a better shooter than McDermott, and is more athletic…he is a guard
Fair enough. I hope he succeeds and the team to draft him uses his skills properly.
Wally S was an allstar and Buckets is not even a starter. You’re just naming white guys.
BTW I think Doncic is overrated too. He won’t be as good as Szczerbiak, who did not have a big problem at D (at first) because he guarded forwards. It became a problem later.
That doesn’t describe either in college at all. It’s closer in the NBA, although he is nothing like either of those guys. In college, both of those guys played the 4 and shot a lot of 3s. They basically played the same position Kevin Love played at UCLA (and in the NBA).
If you think he’s not athletic enough (I’m not persuaded of that at this stage), I’d say Billy Owens with better shooting (inside and outside) is a better comparison. At least based on the limited video I’ve been able to watch.
He is by far the best prospect in this draft
Just basing this off his highlight reel like everyone else, even GMs (RIP Oldhead Phil Jackson Scouting 101). I’m thinking complete bust. Very average speed. His main move, isn’t going to work against longer, quicker guards in the NBA like it does on the LA Fitness talent he’s playing against now. It makes me think of Tim Tebow’s throwing motion how it took an eternity to get rid of the ball. It’s like Lonzo Ball’s step back, except a lot slower and more of a set shot, not a jump shot so will be very blockable. Feel bad for Memphis if they take him #2, they’ll have 2 white stiffs on the roster (Parsons). They should take Bagley or Porter Jr. let this kid slip to 7th for the King’s, that’s a very King’s pick like when they traded for Jimmer who was sandwiched by Klay Thompson and Kemba Walker, both coming after their actual pick at 7 (Biyombo)
Seeee….. exactly. What he said !!
He also looks like a short 6-7″ on video prob 6’4″, like Barkley listed as 6’6″ and was 6’4″.
And Ben Simmons is 6’8″. Who cares?
