A lottery pick and a young player would be a reasonable return in any trade involving Kemba Walker, according to Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer. In consultation with ESPN’s Bobby Marks, Bonnell takes an in-depth look into the possibility of trading Walker, who has a year remaining on his contract. All-Star caliber point guards are highly valued but any suitor would want to feel they could re-sign Walker. The Hornets could package a bad contract with Walker but only if he committed to re-signing with his new team, Bonnell adds.
In other developments involving the Hornets:
- The Hornets have parted ways with director of pro personnel Todd Quinter, Marc Stein of the New York Times tweets. Changes are being made in the Charlotte organization with recently-hired Mitch Kupchak running the front office. Quinter is one of the league’s most seasoned scouts, Stein notes.
- It wouldn’t make sense for the Hornets to pursue Heat center Hassan Whiteside in a trade, Bonnell opines in a separate story. The Hornets already have an older version of Whiteside in Dwight Howard and don’t need to saddle their payroll by adding Whiteside’s contract, which has two years and $52.4MM remaining, Bonnell continues. The Hornets would be better off moving forward next summer after Howard’s contract expires, Bonnel adds.
- Charlotte is bringing in six draft prospects on Friday: Guards Connor Burchfield (William & Mary), Jon Davis (Charlotte), Lexus Williams (Boise State) and Ray Ona Embo (Tulane); forward Marcanvis Hymon (Ole Miss); and center Bakary Konate (Minnesota).
Kemba Walker would be good on the Sixers.
Trade proposal?
Charlotte pick and Walker for Fultz and 10th pick. Walker can play off the ball and take turns with Simmons running point. Plus they would get second option for Embiid and another floor spacer. Charlotte of course gets Fultz to run point and can use the 10th pick on a forward like Jaren Jackson Jr to pair with Dwight or Zeller.
That’s basically Fultz for Walker. The teams would only swap one spot in the draft order.
Go home Dionis, you are drunk!
You had to ask~
I know this guy is a troll but you could easily argue its to much to give up for Kemba when he will probably just walk from Charlotte
Pass, only bc of the $ commitment they would have to make next year to him. Also I dont see them giving up on Fultz for anyone except Kawhi, Lillard, someone in the discussion for MVP, not 4th alternate All Star. You’d only trade for Kemba if LBJ said he was coming if you did so, basically the case for any draft day trade.
Lebron has a good enough team as is he just needs to quit complaining and man up just like Paul is. Paul is the same age or older and facing a much better team and he’s not whining. If Lebron was smart he’s stay in Cleveland, Sexton is the type of guard Cleveland needs.
CP3 is playing with the 2017-18 MVP lmao. Not a comparable situation. Capela is a defensive stud, snub on all nba bc they aren’t putting that many centers on. It’s basically LeBron, Love, You, Me, and your sister out there against the Celfics.
I agree, I wouldn’t give up Fultz for Kemba, that would be a bad trade for Philly, at least while there is the potential that made Markelle the the #1 pick. Also Fultz is the future, Kemba is more present, again Philly is gonna win in the future not now.
Say what? If Fultz pans out, he becomes what Walker is already.
You’d be saying no to Walker, to instead take a chance on a guy who might become Walker. Zero logic.
Fultz could be amazing if he plays all of next year even without a jumpshot, I just thought it was a good idea since Walker is more score first and can play off the ball and hit spot up 3’s with ease off Simmons’s passes.
You gotta pay Walker 20+ next year to keep him tho. There is a salary cap. Its LBJ or PG13 and get a stud in this draft, that’s the best plan. Either that or sign 1 yr guys again and swing for a FA next year. Need to keep cheaper young high ceiling talent around.
Another words the Hornets will just be the Hornets with future of ever making the playoffs. Spend some money and bring a winning team to Charlotte, a winner. Pay the damm tax, other teams do ! KW needs to stay…..
