JUNE 23, 9:03am: Rivers has officially opted in, according to RealGM’s Transactions log.
JUNE 21, 2:37pm: Clippers guard Austin Rivers plans to opt in for next season on a $12.65MM contract, tweets Brad Turner of The Los Angeles Times.
Rivers’ move is one of three major player option decisions for the Clippers, who are also waiting to hear from DeAndre Jordan ($24,119,025) and Milos Teodosic ($6.3MM).
Rivers, 25, put up career-best numbers in his third full season in L.A., averaging 15.1 points and 4.0 assists in 61 games. He became a full-time starter this season, but missed six weeks with an injured right ankle.
Don’t worry Dad will be sure to get him close to 20M per

No kidding. It’s doc rivers kid, doc wasn’t a susperstar/legend, so there is no way they are paying him for his name or family. It’s like saying Seth curry is only in the league because of his brother. Maybe try forming your own opinions instead of parroting what people say on tv and print.
Safe to say he’ll start at shooting guard next season.
No win situation for Clippers. He is bench player….not starter on contender. Not worth 12m
Man how on earth did he got this contract? No wonder he opts in, that was the big contract of his life.
His dad was the GM
I thought he was overpaid but he’s stepped up. I think you should place your hate towards Allen Crabbe, Tim Mozgof, Luol Deng, George Hill, Bismak Biyombo, and plenty of others. Those fools are massively overpaid. I’ll take Rivers over those untradeable guys.
“Thanks dad!”
