Shai Gilgeous-Alexander came off the board at No. 11 to the Hornets, but he won’t remain with Charlotte, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski (Twitter link). Wojnarowski reports that the Clippers are sending the No. 12 pick and two second-round picks to the Hornets in exchange for Gilgeous-Alexander, Woj adds (via Twitter).
With their newly-acquired No. 12 pick, the Hornets selected Miles Bridges, per Jeff Goodman (Twitter link). The deal is now official.
Gilgeous-Alexander, who remained out of sight through most of the workout process, gets his reported wish to play in L.A. At 6’6″, his size and versatility make him attractive to NBA scouts, some of whom believe he could become the best point guard in the draft. A late bloomer at Kentucky, Gilgeous-Alexander became a starter midway through the season and averaged 14.4 points and 5.1 assists in 37 games.
Bridges failed to raise his draft status after a surprise decision to return to Michigan State for his sophomore season, but he could still be a nice pickup for the Hornets. In two years with the Spartans, he averaged 17.0 points per game and shot 38% from 3-point range.
As for the future picks changing hands in the deal, Rick Bonnell of The Charlotte Observer reports (via Twitter) that the Hornets will get second-rounders in 2020 and 2021.

This was a weird trade
Clippers called the Hornets answered. But you’re right very weird why would the Clippers just give away to second-rounders for one spot that the Hornets may not have used to pick this guy anyway. Very strange
If the Cavs had made that selection, they could be using it to leverage a trade for say Lou Williams. Lebron liked Sexton but he wpuld likely like Lou or Tobias more. Oh well Gilbert probably liked Sexton too, due to shortness and toughness.
I meant Gilbert is also short and tough.
But Sexton’s game does not fit with James’ game, and James may even leave anyway, so his group’s advocacy for Sexton is odd.
Alexander will be worth the effort, despite the comparison to micheal carter williams (?) made by “Chauncey’s Comparisons” on espn (!).
Bullstuff. Some get SGA’s game, some don’t.
MCW shot 29% from 3 in college. SGA shot 40%. Literally the only comparison is the 3 letter abbreviation.
SGA literally shot less threes than Mo Bamba if we’re looking at rate statistics. So literally is deceiving to say that, his shooting isn’t good. Look how teams guarded him at Kentucky.
The dumbest comparison was B/R comparing Grayson Allen to Delonte West. Usually they’re good at pro comps and objective trade analysis (which I like) but… really????
Why does it matter if he took fewer threes? The imoportance is in making them. For UK, Knox was supposed to do that. And it was hard for SGA to settle on the perimeter when he could force the ball deeper at will. He doesn’t drive explosively occasionally, he drives steadily at any time.
Hornets probably had another offer on the table and offered LAC the chance to match.
I don’t think they are done dealing either.
I think they took SGA knowing they were trying to send him to Toronto for an established star. Maybe Derozan ?
Beverly, Evans and Jerome Robinson are all PG’s and Rivers can run point too,
to a lesser degree. Not to mention they will likely try to resign LouWill.
I think this is setting up a deal.
No doubt Clippers is got plenty of guards as people mentions, but cannot see any of them been as good as SGA, maybe they will try to get rid of most of them, I think this kid can be the future for the Clippers. Good for Charlotte getting the 2nd rounders… but I am not so sold in Miles, also I am pretty sure Kemba leaves this or next year, so I thought they might have needed the PG more than a 3 & D, that’s just my view.
