Euroleague guard Luka Doncic has moved to forefront of the Hawks’ internal conversations regarding the third overall pick, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski tweets.
There has been recent talk that Doncic, who was widely considered the second-best prospect for months behind Arizona’s Deandre Ayton, could slide out of the Top 3. This report would seem to refute that, though it could also be a ploy to entice a better trade package from a team looking to move up.
Michigan State forward Jaren Jackson and Duke forward Marvin Bagley III remain possibilities for the Hawks with their pick, according to Wojnarowski, though the Kings are expected to nab Bagey with the No. 2 pick.
This is the best possible thing for the Hawks. If he’s there at 3- they NEED to take him and keep him. He’s gonna be a star.
Lol
Looking forward to seeing him play against real competition.
You could say that about every prospect in this draft….
Many of the kids getting drafted from college have played against each other, in college – just bringing it up a level.
Euroleague is better than NCAA
Then more players would be drafted from there.
Different dynamics. NCAA is all kids, all in a draftable pool. Euroleague is prospects, Vets, imports etc. Not everyone is viewed as a draftable asset – not a reflection of overall skill in a league.
Yea and Euroleague is full of failed NBA Euroleague guys or guys that failed to get drafted in the NBA. The NBA drafts a TON of busts, guys that never do anything. And a decent amount of them end up being good Euroleague players.
And that isn’t relevant since we are comparing the Euroleague to the NCAA not the NBA
Exactly. The NBA contributes more pros. The Olympics before the NBA got involved? College kids. Europe? Vets.
The question becomes do you keep Schroeder and make this your back court of the future or do you move Schroeder and add more talent
Doncic to ATL is a no brainer. They should also unload Schroeder to the first sucker that says yes.
DS is a cancer.
I hope the Hawks trade for Chandler Parsons with the Grizzlies & also get the Grizzlies pick #4 in the draft. Then the Hawks can draft Luka Doncic at pick 3 & Trae Young at 4.
I would take Bamba at 4. Doncic already said he wants the ball in his hands as much as possible and that won’t happen with young on the roster.
The Grizzlies aren’t offering the 4 pick to a team just for taking parsons in return…
I still have a gut feeling they are going to take Trae Young at 3. I’m not saying it is what I would do, but it’s what I think they will do. My gut has been wrong many times before, but it just feels right this time.
Not even Atlanta could screw that up. And if they honestly wanted TY, they’d trade back.
They should stick with Jaren Jackson at 3, go for someone like Jerome Robinson at 19, and Melvin Frazier at 30, add that to a couple of the young guys they already have, and they’re starting to look pretty decent
Euroleague is 2nd best in the world, don’t think NCAA is in the top 10 man just stop hating euros. That is why we have to take NBA stars to tournaments because when we use to take college guys never won since the mid 80’s when the other teams got better, so they definitely better than college kids. Didn’t realize what incredible numbers Doncic has done in 36MPG, not that I usually tend to give much importance to this stat, but man 20.9/7.5/6.6 is pretty impressive for the Euroleague, no wonder he was the MVP.
It’s kids versus men when you do Euroleague vs NCAA. Kids that haven’t fully developed body wise versus dudes mostly at max potential.
I suppose it would be depressing for Schlenk to watch Schroder lead the team every game when he was used to watching Curry do it.
He’d better get a 4 in trade though, ATL is light there. Right now they might be starting 2 centers although it would not hurt Collins to get some 4 experience.
If Schlenk can trade Schroder to Denver for Faried, Lyles & the #14… genius. Denver could use Schroder too, esp if Barton gets paid elsewhere.
I’m not sure what Schroder would yield in a draft pick(s), but whatever it is, added to 19, 30 and the Cavs pick next year, along with taking Parsons’ contract, would seem about as good a package as Memphis would be offered for #4. If Memphis doesn’t bite at that, then they really don’t want to move the pick except a few spots (which is probably the right move).
They all just want other GMs to call & chat. I doubt there’s any actual trades.
