The Kings are not interested in trading the No. 2 overall pick for the Clippers’ back-to-back selections at No. 12 and No. 13, Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times tweets.
The Kings reportedly are willing to move down to acquire additional assets but apparently they’re not keen to drop out of the Top 10 for two late lottery selections. The Clippers, who didn’t make the playoffs, acquired an additional first-round selection in the deal that sent Blake Griffin to the Pistons.
Sacramento is reportedly willing to do business with the Spurs and include the pick in a trade for Kawhi Leonard, though that seems to be a longshot since Leonard can exercise an early termination option on his contract after next season.
What Turner’s tweet confirms is that the Clippers are actively seeking to package the picks and move into the Top 5. That reinforces a Yahoo Sports report earlier this month that also claimed they have their eyes on Euroleague guard Luka Doncic.
If the Kings hold onto their pick, it’s a near lock they’ll pick Duke big man Marvin Bagley III, according to the Dallas Morning News’ Eddie Sefko (Twitter link).

It would be nice if they traded it to the Knicks
If Sacramento is willing to deal the pick to the Spurs for Leonard, then why would the deal be a longshot? It’s not the Spurs problem if the Kings can’t sign him, and if they’re interested – that being the Kings, they’re doing the deal knowingly.
What’s written isn’t logical, just like the Kings interest in Leonard.
Just because Sacramento may want to deal with the Spurs doesn’t mean the Spurs want to deal with them. No way Pop deals Leonard to a western conference team.
If even for one year and wouldn’t make a deep playoff run? Unless the Kings get Kawhi and few good free agents, they are still a long shot with that team even with Kawhi.
The implication in the article is that the Kings wouldn’t want to do it because of the eto…
But they’re “willing…”
But is Sacramento really a team that Pop should be worried about? If Sac acquire Kawhi, are they even a playoff team?
I think they are, Fox and Bogdanovic are going to be better next season and don’t sleep on Giles having a come out party next season.
Pop doesn’t want to deal him to a WC contender. I’m sure he doesn’t care if he contends with a Leonard led Sac team that probably will struggle to win 40 games. In fact he might relish the chance to look across the court 4x a year and say “ha ha…you wanted to leave US? Hey Kawahi…you like apples? How you like dem worm infested apples”?
He can say that for one year, then KL will be in LA. Better to send him to NY or PHL where he will stay.
Bagley, Porter, or trade back for still Porter, 1 of the Bridges, Kevin Knox, or into the early 20s for one of the wing players…
They could also try to get DeRozan or Wiggins from Toronto or Minnesota. Same package pretty much works either way. Bogdanovic, Temple, Shumpert, and #36 pick for Derozan or Wiggins, and either of them would play the 3. That would also open up Doncic as a possibility at 2, although I’d assume they would go with Porter at that point
If that’s the case, I want the sixers to offer all 4 second round picks and jerryd bayless for DeRozan
Why would they even consider trading 2 for 12/13 to anyone let alone a division rival.
Because it’s a really deep draft and Sac needs a lot
It was a deep draft last year and they missed on their top picks
12-13? Pass take Bagley.
If it’s. “Really deep” draft, then you take 2 and trade for 12 and 13 make LAC add an early 2nd rounder or next year s one. If they were eyeing someone at 2, which they are, they will add another asset to make it work. It may even be a rostered player that held more value than say pick number 39?
I would draft porter.
Stand fast and take MBIII, the best player in this draft.
Kings need to get rid of the dumb contracts and develop their draft picks. Wasting rookie wage scale years of Skal, WCS, Fox, Hield I mean their roster is full of bums getting minutes.
If I’m the Spurs I do the deal now!!! Get the #2 to go out and draft either Donic or Bagley. DO IT NOW
Kawhi is a great fit for Sacramento, but with a guarantee to stay for the long run, he ain’t worth Bagley for 1 year, really I would never swap #2 for him anyway. #12 & #13 might get you up to #8-9 but in no way you can get a #2, even Sacramento cannot be that dumb.
What all picks does Sac hold?
I’m thinking Cleveland sends Love, pick #8, JR Smith( bc he would be in any deal out of town if I were CLE) for pick#2, and 2nd round pick
And then you traded #2 for Kawhi?
Vlade is going to trade the 2nd pick for the 12th and 13th and then package those two picks up and trade up to the 6th the pick.
So trade the 2nd for the 6th???? Lmao
That would be the most Vlade Move!!
Lol
Memphis trades the 4th pick for 12, 13 and a young piece that can play meaningful minutes now.
I say trade the Pick, Hield and the 36th Pick to the Suns for Booker. Rumor has it Booker can be had for the right price.
