6:09pm: Thompson will play in tonight’s contest, according to the Warriors’ Twitter feed.
4:59pm: Klay Thompson suffered a high left ankle sprain with significant bruising during the Warriors‘ Game 1 victory but is likely to play tonight, according to reports from ESPN’s Ramon Shelburne and USA TODAY’s Sam Amick.
The injury occurred when Cavaliers guard J.R. Smith dove for a loose ball early in the first quarter and landed on Thompson’s leg. After briefly leaving the game, Thompson returned to the game and played through the injury. Thompson told reporters yesterday that the pain worsened the day after the victory and if Game 2 had been scheduled for Saturday, he was unsure he could play.
Walking with a noticeable limp, Thompson said he was angered when he saw a replay of Smith’s dive.
“From watching that replay, it pissed me off,” Thompson said. “That’s a tough play on the ball, and then just to tumble into somebody’s legs like that. You’ve got to move past it, but it’s just life, and I’m going to be better from it. It’s just a minor setback. But I don’t think it was intentional.”
Thompson remains listed as “questionable” for tonight’s game. The Warriors sharpshooter has never missed a postseason game and while he’ll likely attempt to play, it’s uncertain how effective he will be on a bothersome ankle.
Smith was going for a loose ball. What was Draymont doing in James’ eyeball after the ball rose past him?
Seriously, I never got to a specific teams page to attack or insult players on that team but Thompson and Curry really irk me with this narrative they try and create about the Cavs trying to injure them.
On Thompson and Smith. CLEARLY he slipped on the floor and that caused him to fall into Klay. The first IMMEDIATE reaction was for Smith to touch Thompson like “My bad bro…you ok”? Please look at the replay.
Curry and Perkins. Curry claims that Perkins tried to inure him by not moving his feet when he landed after attempting a 3 on the sideline. Let’s first remember……your not shooting the 3 from the out of bounds territory. Perkins is 6’10. Look where his feet are prior to Curry’s shot. They are flat on the floor and NOT extended, meaning that his knee is bent in the usual seated position. Look at where Curry shot from. He shoots from in front of a player on the bench about 3 or 4 players away from where Perk is sitting. He shoots, drifting to his right, lands with both feet on the floor and his momentum makes him take two or three more steps into the side of Perks legs. Again, Perks legs are not extended and they NEVER move from seconds before the shot. What exactly was Perk supposed to do? Was he supposed to pull his knees up to his chest so that his feet aren’t on the floor at all? Either the media made up the subject of the confrontation being Perks leg position or Curry is a certified (enter colorful language here). I had a ton of respect for the Warriors before but they are a bunch of entitled weak ass players right now. #delicatesnowflakes,
