When LeBron James first reached unrestricted free agency in 2010, several suitors flew in delegations to make presentations to him, and he eventually announced his decision on a televised special. That won’t be the case this time around, according to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, who writes that James has “no intention” of inviting teams to make elaborate recruiting pitches.
Of course, with James’ decision on his player option for next season due by this Friday, it’s possible that the future Hall-of-Famer won’t even reach free agency. However, even if he turns down that option and hits the open market on July 1, LeBron considers it unnecessary to have interested clubs make presentations.
[RELATED: Taking a closer look at LeBron James’ future]
According to Shelburne, James may end up speaking with a team official or owner at some point during his decision-making process. But league sources believe that he and his agents – Rich Paul and Mark Termini – have a strong enough understanding of the “stakes and NBA landscape” to go through the process with little fanfare.
The Lakers and Cavaliers have increasingly been viewed as the most likely destinations for James by outside observers, though many other teams – including the Rockets, Sixers, Clippers, Celtics, and Heat – could still be possibilities.
im not sure why the rockets keep being mentioned.. lebron has said that hes not a big fan of the city of houston on top of all the cap moves & major rotation players they would have to lose wouldnt seem to make sense to me. in houstons case though, i definitely see them getting carmelo this offseason.
In his defense, I never heard or read a quote where HE said he didn’t like Houston. I read where Brian Windhurst has said that he didn’t think his family would like Houston but even that isn’t an absolute fact.
They already have AllStars that have never won a ship. Might as well add another
CP3, smart players. But how much debt will Fertitta absorb?– there’s a number.
Don’t think Rockets get Carmelo unless by trade, think he exercised his player option in OKC
Sign after buyout?
He will go to the Lakers IF he can get PG13 or CP3. Spurs wont trade Kawhi to the Lakers. LeBron won’t go to LA by himself.
I don’t think CP3 has to go to LA for LeBron to. If he, PG13 and another solid player (Kemba trade or DJ if he opts out for example) might be enough to pull LeBron there. After all Cleveland has nothing to offer him. Unless teams are willing to take on terrible contracts like JR, TT, Clarkson, Korver or 20M still due to Hill the Cavs will have no cap space for a long time.
That’s what i said. He won’t go by himself. He needs at least one other guy. Then he’ll NEED another great player or a unbelievable surrounding cast similar to HOU with Harden & CP3
Did LeBron say that he needs another great player? He Said he’s going where it’s best for him and his family!!
I don’t think James is going to LA for a number of reasons. 1. He’s not going to play or put up with the Ball family. 2. Less $ if he leaves Cleveland. 3. He’d want two all stars to go with him at a minimum to compete with the Rockets/Warriors as the Lakers have no talent. (sorry LA fans, but it’s true.
That said, who knows where James is going to land. He most likely doesn’t know right now where he’s going to play next season.
The supporting cast in Cleveland stinks. LeBron can work with Jeannie Buss, Rob Petrino, and Magic to build his own team in Los Angeles. The Cavs don’t have any money to spend or good players to trade.
Los Angeles is the best place for LeBron Jr. to be for his development.
It would have to be Ryan Anderson plus whoever for Carmelo, and I can actually see the Thunder doing that.
Sorry, tried to reply to chiefivey
I threw this same idea up start of the season. Be best outcome for both teams.
Obviously he’s turning down the player option. That’s not even news when he does. If he stays with Cleveland he’ll sign a new 2 year deal with a player option on the second
No. A possibility exists that he might consult with the Cavs where he wants to go and that in-order for it to happen a trade needs to happen for salary cap issues. While Gilbert might not be happy about it, if there are assets that the Cavs might want and the teams come to an agreement then why not get assets back in return. But it can’t be a sign-and-trade for Ryan Anderson tho. He would make no sense at all for a post-LBJ Cav’s team.
I believe Danthemilwfan is correct with the exception it’s possible James opts in so he can be traded. 2. It’s also possible he opts in and stays in Cleveland. But I doubt that scenario. 3 Possible he opts out and stays in Cleveland as Danthemilfan suggests with a 2 year. But if he goes this route, he’ll ask for more years I believe due to his age and years of service. might be the last big contract he’ll get.
Everyone is staying put. If I’m LeBron though, I’m declining my option and seeing if I can take less to get Cousins or something of a center. With all the shots taken between Cleveland and Golden State, someone needs to be there to clean up. Love is not the guy at center like Lou keeps dreaming him to be. LeBron could do his city right before he leaves and take less so they can get a future guy like Capela so there’s something there when he leaves. He loves his city so much, do them that.
He actually doesn’t like Cleveland that much. He grew up in Akron as a Bulls fan. Many folks born and raised in Akron have disdain towards Cleveland. Besides, he already “did them right” by bringing them their first NBA ship. First ship in any pro sport in over 5 decades actually. That franchise is a mess, stacked w/ terrible unmovable contracts, no cap space and essentially in the armpit of the Midwest. He’s going to LA and getting Magic to trade Ball, Kouzma, Deng and a 1st for Kawai
Most of those terrible contracts are in place because LeBron wanted his guys to get paid. Now their stuck with JR & Thompson & Love, etc
BTW, Nice to be “stuck with” Thompson and Love”. JR is still a good rotational player whom caught a lot of flack for his screwball action at the end of game #1. It’s not like the Cavs owe these three players much in terms of $ or years in contract.
Just salty is all. Tired of seeing Cleveland win all the time I guess.
Last I checked, the Cavs have lost 3 of the last 4 Finals. J.R. needs to retire! Not nice to be stuck with Thompson. Love is good, but not great any more. The media has been saying Love isn’t worth near what he used to be in trades. They said if Love has one more concussion, it’ll be retirement time.
Cleveland is in such a mess now that they are the only team in the East to hit the NBA Finals the last four years. Horrible mess. ~ lmao
Salt must be in the air.
*The scene: LeBron James bending down on two knees with the trophy held high above his head with tears streaming down his face.
“Cleveland! This is for you!”
Nah I don’t think there’s any disdain for Cleveland.
Reality check. M.J. was 6 for 6 in Finals on the same team. Bill Russell was 11 for 13 on the same team. Durant is 2 for 3 and it’ll only get better. LeBron is only player in NBA history to lose 6 Finals. The rivalry is over now. Add Kawhi to Boston and Dwight Howard to Golden State. That’s what we’ll be talking about!
Ummm…Jerry West? Elgin Baylor? Have you watched the NBA prior to the last 5 years?
Yes. I remember when Kareem was Lew Alcindor and played at UCLA. I remember him with the Milwaukee Bucks. I remember Wilt scoring 100 points a game with Philadelphia. People don’t know he was an outstanding tennis player too. The old Lakers-Celtics series will always be the greatest of all time.
You guys act as if this is baseball and the team is stuck with 5-10 year deals. Smith, Hill and Corver are essentially on 1 year expiring deals as the 2nd year (last) has very little guaranteed money (Smith/$3.4 mil, Hill/$1 mil and Korver/$3.4 mil). The NBA has proven that expiring contracts are very desirable in the NBA especially for teams that need to reach the salary floor, looking to move vets with more than 2 years on their deals or if attached with assets, be it young controllable players or as little as 2nd rnd draft picks. Kevin Love is hardly a player they are “stuck” with. The man is a stretch 4 who just came off of 46%/41%/81% season with 18pts/9 rebounds. If he were a FA you mean to tell me he couldn’t get 2/$50 mil?
Kobe Altman has his work cut out for him but those contracts are not an albatross and I wouldn’t be shocked if he was able to re-purpose those dollars for useful players. The NBA has a lot of bad GMs and cheap owners looking to move debt off the roster.
Ex. (not that the Cavs SHOULD do this deal) but JR Smith (1/$17 m) for Dennis Schroder (3/$45m). Again, I don’t think Schroder makes them better but deals like that happen all the time in the NBA. Mozgov/Howard was sort of an example.
I would assume he would have to have some lengthy conversations with a lot of those teams about how they planned to fit him in, especially Boston or Houston.
Why would he go to Boston? Kyrie literally demanded a trade because he didn’t want to play w/LeBron.
It would be pretty funny though.
Kyrie would be the main one traded out, presumably to a third team.
Options like BOS (or WAS, NOP, LAC) would mean opt-in-and-trade which means Gilbert has to agree.
Opting out means restrictive sign-and-trade rules must agree, which is possible with PHL, LAL & HOU. Trading is possible with those 3 too, and salaries do not have to match.
It’s either L.A. or Cleveland. Boston doesn’t need LeBron ruining their team chemistry. Kawhi isn’t the ball dominant player that LeBron is. He’s a better fit for Boston than LeBron.
Cleveland and Houston have the hardest path to landing LBJ. Cleveland b/c that team is mostly trash. Houston, b/c of Ryan Anderson.
Really it’s do you want to play with:
PG13, Kuzma, Ingram, Ball, Hart or
Embiid, Simmons, Saric, Fultz/Smith
If I’m being honest, not a homer. LAL looks better. Sixers screwed up not playing Fultz in the playoffs and not taking Bridges/Porter Jr in the draft.
I take exception to the term “trash”. The role players simply didn’t do their job, especially our 3pt shooters Smith, Love and Korver. Also, the team never had a chance to gel as you had 3 versions of the team. The new guys minus I. T, the newer guys with I.T and the final version after the trade deadline (Nance, Hood and Hill). The Cavs have the ability to get better. Sexton was the first part. Let’s see what they can do with some of their expiring contracts and vets interested in coming aboard,
I will say that Lue has to do something to address our poor team defense.
Nance, and clarkson and hood are trash. Nance showed no ability when given more minutes in cleveland. Hood and clarkson both stink bad. Sexton cant shoot and is a ball dominant guard that cant play off the ball because hes not a good shooter. Cavs are bad and no one wants there draft picks or bad comtracts. Lebron gone.
You can have your opinion and that’s fine but to say they are not all-stars would be correct. To say they are trash is an opinion but not a very good one.
Nance -9pts, 7 reb on 55% shooting coming off then bench.
Clarkson-45%/40%/81% with 13 pts in 20 minutes off the bench.
Hood-44%/35%/81% with 11 pts in 23 minutes off the bench.
All 25-26 yo and may improve with a full year playing under Lue.
Sexton has to show but he was a highly rated rookie for a reason. And in the NBA bad contract ARE an asset, especially when you have expiring contracts. Learn how this game works.
And to say, “no one wants their picks” right after the draft where we saw several trades take place AFTER the #8 slot means that teams DO want picks, the higher the better. Get over yourself. We all know this team has talent that simply under-performed during the Finals. This team can get better, whether they can get good enough to beat the GSW is the problem.
When you look at their contract, low basketball IQ, inability to perform at home (role players show up at home more than on the road), and that the team is full of them… it’s a trash roster.
Love had a good finals. Green and Korver are nice role players for what they are asked to do both are reserves at this point though, being asked to start. TT, Smith, Clarkson, Hill are like a lot of NBA scrub-ish players, overpaid and forced into a starting role. Smith/Hill are cooked.
Hood and Nance – honestly only provide worth if on a rookie contract, they are best suited for 7th or 8th guy off the bench role. But they’ve been asked to start in several instances.
That’s the main problem – when you have to start any of these guys. There are a lot of scrub thieves in the league, but Cleveland has a roster full of them.
I don’t want to go to deep into the discussion with you. All of these moves were done because Kyrie sprung the trade request upon them and they reacted the best they felt was possible. If not, a LBJ/Irving/Love/Smith/Thompson line up is a finals competitor.
The Cavs have role players who need to be pushed back into a back up roles, especially Hill and Smith. I think Sexton will get plenty of floor time regardless of whether or not LBJ returns or not. Having Hill come off the bench can help get the best out of the PG position. Smith needs to be traded and it might seem difficult but a 1/$17 expiring contract is an attractive asset for teams looking to rid themselves of good players who have issues and multiple years on their deals.
Here are some very foreseeable moves that can right some of their problems. Obviously they would have to gel on the court but you won’t know until it happens.
Assets: Hill’s expiring 1/$21 mil, Smith’s expiring 1/$17 mil and Korver’s 1/$10 mil
PG-Sexton
SG-Hood/Clarkson (both shot 44% or better FG% and 35% or better from the 3)
SF-LBJ
PF-Love
C-Thompson
Key players that they can target
Interior D-Dwight Howard (trade or if he’s bout out) or Nerlins Noel (UFA).
Perimeter D-Avery Bradley (UFA)
Playmaker/Scorer- Carmelo Anthony (I would let him start the game so he’s technically a starter but rotate him out and have him on the floor when LBJ sits.
A possible lineup of…
Sexton/Hill
Bradley/Hood/Clarkson
LBJ/Anthony/Green
Love/Nance
Howard/Thompson
Would be an easy 50 win team. Outside shooting from the G would be my only concern but both Clarkson and Hood shoot about 35-40% from the 3 pt line. Nice mix of youth and vets too.
(Says he doesn’t want to go deep in this conversation, then proceeds to go deeeeep) lol
I know right? Brevity isn’t my bag. That WAS my shorter “why am I even doing this” post.
I think the LA Dodger fan is just upset b/c everyone knows there’s not one all star on the Lakers and not one that shows any signs of being an all star. Lot’s of young guys on the team. Who knows maybe one of those Laker players would actually step up and make an all star team 4 or 5 years down the road.
Pg13 makes that Lakers list look good, unfortunately he’s not a Laker.
Out of the other 4,Ingram is the only 1 of them you might be able to put on the same level as Embiid or Simmons.
And the 6ers didn’t play Fultz in the playoffs because they were trying to win,and Fultz played like 300minutes all year.He had no chemistry, and the playoffs aren’t the time to try to develop that chemistry.
And as much as I would’ve liked Bridges, the 6ers still did fine in the draft. If the 6ers have any intentions of going for LeBron,Pg,or Kawhi,Porter would’ve only made sense as a trade piece for Kawhi. With any of those 3,Rco,Saric and Simmons, minutes would’ve been hard to come by.Only natural guards on the 6ers roster are McConnell,Fultz and Bayless,so they used their 6 picks to add 3 more,as well as 4 future draft picks.
I think La has a better chance of getting LeBron, but it’s because of Los Angeles, not the Lakers roster.
You can put PG13’s name down in permanent marker. All he has to do is go 1+1 and he’ll recoup the super-max money he lost out on in Indy.
Embiid / PG13 cancel each other out.
Simmons/Saric offensive immediate impact than Smith. Mikal is a 3&D upside being Otto Porter Jr..
Michael Porter is going to be a special player. Back injury scared away most, if you’re going to end up with a raw player like Smith who could take 3 years to develop, I would rather hitch my wagon to Porter. If they don’t end up with LBJ, which I don’t think is happening anymore, then whenever he’s 100% healthy Porter Jr. makes my team immediately better.
RoCo would be better as a 6th man. If they land LBJ, you could have ran with a line-up > 6’8 with LBJ/Simmons as primary ball handlers.
Simmons – LBJ – RoCo – Porter/Saric – Embiid
Bayless is not a natural anything he’s just a low IQ player and why they didn’t get rid of his salary on draft night is beyond me, they have to if they want LBJ.
LBJ wouldn’t go to LA if it was just him just b/c it’s LA. Ingram/Kuzma/Ball are not the start caliber players that Simmons/Embiid are. He’s not going to LA to waste around for a few years you saw how annoyed he was in Cleveland with veterans messing up, these are rookies or 2nd year players in LA with out PG13. I think the LAL roster is better just b/c PG13 is going there, it’s almost a fact it would be a HUGE upset if he didn’t, idk what the Vegas odds are.
If I knew what I had with Fultz, or if he was who we drafted, completely different story. He should have gotten more minutes in the Miami series, and Marco was outmatched in the Boston series as good as he was in the Miami series, you saw that in game 1 from the get-go. They needed to make a change, Brett refused to make a change, they needed quicker guard play in that series and once you’re down 3-0 who cares? Play the kid. That’s why they drafted 3 guards obviously. But you basically have 4 rookie guards to play along side Simmons… and TLC and Bayless still on your roster. TJ is the primary back-up for Simmons atm.
PG13 is best buddy’s with Westbrook on and off court. He’s only doing 2 year contract to help OKC get a 3rd star to replace Carmelo after next season. PG13 isn’t only one from Los Angeles. Westbrook is too!
ZA’s making assumptions about what others will do based on what he would do– It’s a flawed process. Plus a whole roster is not trash because one player might be $10MM overpaid, and in general Cav players do not get to shoot their way out of slumps like those on normal mediocre teams.
As for PHL, they needed a GM for the draft.
The first round was good for Philly. They picked up a pick (possibly attach it to Bayless) and get a future piece who could be phenomenal at any given time. Yes he’s raw, but his abilities say he should be great. And yes, the second round was very um…guard filled to say the least, but they got shooters. If Simmons, or even LeBron are handling the ball, they need shooters. I personally did not like their second round, but I understand it.
Always remember 2nd place is the first loser. The dynasty’s are the Lakers, Celtics, Spurs, and Golden State. The Cavs won “ONE” championship!
Wilbon wrote a great piece on why Lebron should sign with the Wizards. I thought it made a lot of sense… Don’t sleep on ‘Mr. James Goes To Washington.’
He’s not going to Washington. Wall & Beal are nice but they are limited with money
Lebron opts in and is traded for Porter and Oubre?
Honestly, unless he stays in Cleveland I would love to see him go to the Pelicans, especially if they can also bring back Cousins and Rondo. I think a team of
PG-Rondo
SG-Holiday
SF-LBJ
PF-Davis
C-Cousins
Ohhh weee. That’s bullyball. A tough, cerebral team (Rondo, LBJ) with some bad ass dudes (Cousins, Rondo). I think they could beat GSW.
They would pretty much have to trade Holiday to CLE. They’re not deep
No..not quite true. Mirotic, Hill and Moore could be moved. I’m not saying it would be EASY or that LBJ WANTS to go there. I’m simply bringing up the possibility that the 2018 Pelicans + LBJ would be one of the best starting 5 in the game, imo.
Why would Gilbert want to pay for those players? To be paying the luxury tax for players that would struggle to make the playoffs? For the Pels, it’s not about hard or easy, it’s about keeping Gilbert on the phone.
James looks like a winner on any roster.
I didn’t say he WOULD want them. I’m not pouring over the scenario. I’m just saying that it could probably be worked out somehow IF the Cavs can get assets in return (picks).
2018-19 NBA Championship. Boston vs. Golden State. Vegas odds:EVEN
If Lebron goes to the Lakers PG will follow him for sure.
Wish the Clips were more of viable option but with the Rivers Family plus what CP3 said on his way out, Bron aint going to that, but stranger things have happened. The ideal situation would be New Orleans but they would need to create a whole lot of cap space.
There is absolutely no way lebron goes to pelicans, “ideal” ? New orleans is a hole and his family is going to play a huge role in where he goes, that definately not the place you go. Sorry to burst your bubble kid.
I’ll be fine thanks old timer and I just said ideal cause of Anthony Davis. Lebron, Davis and whoever else would be potent, but they’re capped out so nvm.
New Orleans is an amazing city. Not sure what you’re talking about. But let’s make this clear. When you make the kind of money LBJ makes you’re not living in the 5th ward. You’re living where the other million and billionaires reside.
I think he should retire from basketball, sign a minor league deal with the Indians, not hit in AA, then come back to the NBA a year later.
Only a real baller could pull that off…
James could start on most NFL teams. Now that’s a real man’s game.
He would make a great tight end. He plays basketball like one! I don’t think he could handle the physical contact though the way he whines to the referees.
You just said he would make a great tight end. Then Swanson took over and all was lost.
Jordan was much improved in the 2nd half. It was pretty impressive to put up the numbers he did, playing AA baseball after not having played since high school
Don’t forget he has to win 3 titles in a row before he attempts to hit a curve ball, oh, forget it.
How humble of him.
Wait, how is Boston on the list? Didn’t Kyrie literally demand to be traded because he didn’t want to play w/LeBron?
No. Kyrie demanded a trade b/c he wanted a team he could call his own.
He demanded a trade because he didn’t want to play with LeBron playing his position and getting all the credit. Kyrie was willing to go to Phoenix. Doesn’t matter now. The Cavs screwed up and it showed. How many point guards did they use this year?
They asked Kyrie who he would like to be playing with in 4 years. He said Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, and James Harden. Doesn’t sound like he wants to play with LeBron. Remember Harrison Barnes wedding party. Curry making fun of LeBron and Kyrie laughing. Now we know what they meant!
If LeBron only gets PG13 in LA then it’ll be more of the same as this past season. LeBron and PG13 will not be able to get past golden state or Houston. The lakers role players aren’t good enough to go all the way either. If this is the best he can do then he might as well stay in the East as the path to the finals is easier with only Boston in the way. Now is LA can get both LeBron and Kawhi then that’s a different story. I just don’t see paul George being that great of a difference maker in pushing a team over the hump. He couldn’t do it with Westbrook who is a top 5 player. I don’t think he’s enough. Stay in Cleveland LeBron !
Rumor has it that LeBron has his kids enrolled in Sequioa Valley in Los Angeles. It’s has one of the best basketball programs in the country. PG13 isn’t going to L.A. Love says he wants to finish his career with LeBron. He can after next year. They both have homes in L.A. The Lakers wouldn’t have to trade their young core.
Not that it matters entirely, but just throwing it out there…LeBron was seen at Columbus high school in miami on Saturday
What for? He has no children that are of high school age. Bron Jr. is going into 8th grade.
His son had a tournament at a different school, but apparently, its a really highly regarded prep school for sports. Obviously you’re right. His kid wouldn’t go there for another year, but maybe he was just scoping it out.
Tournament play is all.
How can anyone say NOLA is a hole, there are a lot of haters around. The King will go wherever he feels like, & I am not sure he will be chasing rings anyway, he’s got 3 so… who cares a few more, he should go somewhere were he feels calm, relaxed, can enjoy the lifestyle (Miami, Nola, LA, Charlotte…) family life, he is done plenty, just enjoy having fun for the years left.
These guys know their legacy is tied to rings. That’s the bottom line.
Rings is a top reason why Michael Jordan is considered by many the greatest player of all time. Bill Russell same thing.
Ever hear of wilt the stilt? The rings thing is bragging rights between Boston and LA only. Championships are a team stat.
Oh. And if rings were the only criteria, there are lots of players most wouldn’t even know their names that have more rings than Jordan. Plus, Jordan is no where near Russell. So if it’s rings, then the greatest of all time is Russell and Jordan is just another star.
If you ask players who played with them, they will tell you Chamberlain, Russell, Jabbar and M.J. are the best of all time. LeBron is the only player in NBA history to lose 6 Finals. He won 3. Golden State has won 3 of the last 4 and they’re not done yet. What’s even better is Klay Thompson and Steph Curry want to play their careers together. M.j. was 6 for 6 in Chicago only. Russell was 11 for 13 in Boston only.
LeBron is the best of his generation. Scottie Pippen says you can’t compare LeBron and M.J. The rules and styles of play are different. The competition is different. They played different positions. M.J. is one of greatest athletes of all time. LeBron is like Karl Malone. he’s a linebacker playing basketball.
Jerry West was 1-8 in the finals. Elgin Baylor was 1-7. They played with and against a couple of guys that you named lol. Keep trying. Lebron is 1 of 7 guys that can be considered the greatest, and it’s a fair argument. Everyone has their own list ultimately, but he is there. For me it’s still MJ, but to act like there is 0 conversation for others or that LeBron isnt in that conversation, is a joke. I have him 2nd now. I always had MJ, Magic, Kareem, Wilt, Bird (peak Bird is higher), Oscar
If you want to compare this Cavs team to that Lakers team, you are out of your mind! Like Scottie Pippen said recently on ESPN, you can’t compare LeBron and M.J.! The refereeing and style were different. They played different positions. Their body styles are different. Jay Williams said LeBron was the best. Jalen Rose who played against M.J. and knows LeBron, got pissed and walked off the stage. Byron Scott said it was Kareem Jabbar. For those who glorify LeBron, guys like Durant, Russell, Kobe, Curry, M.J., Pippen, David Robinson, and Tim Duncan fared better. The city of Cleveland has won 1 championship in 50 years. They really are comparable to the Buffalo Bills and Minnesota Vikings. The Cavs will likely never win another championship. Yes, LeBron is one of the best of all time. The Cavs are not! You saw what happened when LeBron and Love had to sit the second half of game 6 against the Pacers. The Pacers blew them out.
This was all over the place. I’m not sure if you agreed or disagreed with me lol
I agree with Jalen Rose about M.J. is better than LeBron, but I also agree with Scottie Pippen that we can’t compare players from different generations. I get mad when I see all this LeBron stuff on ESPN. Of course he’s one of the best, but they smother you with crap for tv ratings. I’m one who believes LeBron’s stats are irrelevant because they come from such a weak conference. I think if LeBron had played on Golden State, he would have averaged about 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists a game. When they say the Cavs have been to 4 straight Finals, so what. If Draymond Green hadn’t been suspended, they would have lost all 4 of them.
Swanson is even crazier than he used to be.
Oh ya! Oscar Robertson too!
The Cavs are to the NBA what the Buffalo Bills and Minnesota Vikings are to the NFL. Cleveland went 50 years before they won a championship, now they are back to losing again. It’ll be Golden State and Boston until someone breaks up those teams.
For Luke Adams. Joe Vardon says in a recent article the Cavs may have to trade Colin Sexton for Kemba Walker for LeBron to stay in Cleveland. Can they trade Sexton straight up for Walker. Jordan says he doesn’t want any more bad contracts. If they didn’t include Hill, Clarkson, or J.R., how could they do it?
The only Kemba/Cavs trade that makes sense to me would include George Hill and/or J.R. Smith along with Sexton. The Hill and Smith contracts aren’t too bad since there’s barely any guaranteed money beyond 2018/19. I would imagine the Hornets would also want to dump one of their bad contracts in a deal. Something like Hill/Smith/Sexton for Kemba/Batum is almost a perfect match in terms of salary.
Would Charlotte be able to handle J.R. and Mozgov together again? This is on podcast on Cleveland.com from June 22.
I am reading Howard wants to go to Golden State. Do you think they would be better or worse? I think they could win 74 games again if they all stay healthy.
