The Suns are set to host Duke’s Marvin Bagley III, a probable top-five pick, for a workout tomorrow, the team announced in a press release.
Phoenix wields the No. 1 selection and has been linked to Arizona big man Deandre Ayton, who is expected to be the first overall pick. The Suns hosted Ayton for a workout earlier this week where he confirmed the Suns will be the only team he works out for. “I know I’m going No. 1,” Ayton told reporters.
However, general manager Ryan McDonough has indicated that the Suns are casting a wide net and will explore other options with the first pick.
“It is difficult and I think people are jumping to conclusions as far as [thinking] there’s only one or two guys in the mix for us,” McDonough said in an interview with ESPN. “There are more than that. There are a handful of guys.”
Bagley and his 6’11”, 234-pound frame is an intriguing prospect who teams consider a potential cornerstone in the frontcourt. In 33 games with Duke as a freshman, Bagley averaged 21.0 PPG and 11.1 RPG.
I think Bagley best fits Memphis since he can play his natural position which is the 4 and he could grow into a 5 as the years go by. Atlanta already has Collins to build with and Sacramento will have Giles coming back plus Skal. The Suns would make sense actually but anyone who skips on Ayton needs to get drug tested lol.
I think Bagley and Collins can play in the same front court. Bagley is versatile enough to score outside and handle it. Collins is a skinny 5. He can’t stretch the D. I think Atlanta prays Bagley falls to 3 and they can team up the Collins and Bagley together for the next 10 years.
Great complementing combo, if they work together.
Bagley fits on any team nicely.
This is a deep draft, but he’s as sure as they come. He’s my pick right after Ayton.
I agree, the combo Bagley/Collins looks very good, I did like Collins a lot this year, for me a 1st all-rookie team, but I don’t see him as a superstar guy to build a team around, but Bagley is. So Collins doing more the D, I think they can make a formidable duo that can dominate a lot in the east, really exciting prospect.
