The Mavericks and Sixers are swapping late second-round selections, according to Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports, who reports (via Twitter) that Dallas is getting the 56th and 60th overall picks from Philadelphia in exchange for No. 54.
The 76ers initially owned six picks in the 2018 draft, but have been active on the trade market. The club sent the 38th overall pick to Detroit and the 39th overall pick to the Lakers, and will now complete a two-for-one deal with the Mavs.
With their newly-acquired 54th pick, the Sixers are drafting SMU guard Shake Milton, tweets Charania. Melton scored 18.0 points per game as a junior and shot 43% from 3-point range.
The Mavericks grabbed Louisville’s Ray Spalding at No. 56 and completed the draft by taking Dayton’s Kostas Antetokounmpo, the brother of Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo, at No. 60. Spalding, a power forward, completed an impressive junior season for the Cardinals, averaging 12.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per night. Kostas Antetokounmpo spent one season with the Flyers, averaging 5.2 points per game.
Fultz, Z. Smith, Shamet, Milton, TLC all play the same bleeping position.
no they actually don’t but If they did who cares you need exchangeable players, and players who can play & guard multiple positions
Not enough minutes to go around. Same position as JJ or Marco if they are brought back.
Zhaire can play anywhere from the 1 to the 4. Probably slots in as a 2 or 3 in the future.
We needed a backup center for when Holmes leaves via FA or trade…….. ugh
Kostas will fill that lol
How? He’s going to the Mavs
They have two backup bigs stashed overseas and also have next seasons draft to work with. No need to waste a roster spot this year with Holmes locked in cheap
Bolden is a 4. He is the only guy coming over.
And Bolden replaces Amir on the Roster I knew this before the season was even over. This draft they could have gotten a replacement for Holmes who is not a guy you should pay up to keep around.
They have Bolden and Pasceniks from last years draft at PF and C
I swear people dont seem to realize that smh
That kid is raw as hell… hes not coming over next year. Bolden is a 4. They needed an actual defensive player to back up Embiid. Williams was on the board. Is Brad Stevens the only guy that can coach him? Lot of scared GMs?
Milton adds another athletic defender for Philly. I think he’s better than people think offensively, and he might be able to guard a bit on the wing as well
Overall it was a good, unbelievably smart draft for the sixers. And they don’t even have a legit GM. Brown did fantastic acquiring players who will fit well and also attaining assets for trade. Very intelligent moves with now and the future in mind. Love the focus on defense and athleticism.
Well maybe Philly are planning to keep Holmes for the long run, I would all for it, why get guys like Amir Johnson, which are more expensive when you have a Holmes in home.
Holmes isnt expensive now. He is a backup center, that’s why they needed to get a capable replacement so they can trade or let him walk. Everyone is like oh they have draft n stash. That kid is a toothpick right now.
I really like Holmes. Great energy guy who can do a little of everything. I hope he stays.
