Newly-hired Magic head coach Steve Clifford recently visited Aaron Gordon in San Jose, California as part of an effort to get to know his players, tweets Josh Robbins of The Orlando Sentinel. Gordon is a restricted free agent this summer, but reports have indicated that the Magic are likely to retain his services, even if they have to go up to the maximum salary to do so.
In April, Gordon addressed what his “ideal’ contract would be this summer. “Ideal is max,” Gordon said, per Josh Robbins of The Orlando Sentinel (Twitter link). “That would be ideal. Three letters. … Definitely here (in Orlando).”
While injuries limited him to 58 games this past season, Gordon posted the best totals of his career. Gordon, 22, averaged 17.6 PPG and 7.9 RPG for the Magic.
Check out more Southeast Division notes below:
- Magic swingman Jonathon Simmons underwent surgery on his right wrist in late April, a team spokesman confirmed to Josh Robbins of The Orlando Sentinel. Simmons missed the final 12 games of the season due to a wrist injury. It’s unclear when Simmons will resume basketball activities. In 69 games, Simmons averaged 13.9 PPG while shooting 46.5% from the field.
- Hawks big man Mike Muscala remains undecided about what he will do with his $5MM player option for 2018/19, tweets Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Muscala has until June 29 to make a decision on that option.
- While the possibility may be slim, LeBron James leaving the Cavaliers to join the Wizards is not that far-fetched, Chase Hughes of NBC Sports Washington opines. Hughes writes that the opportunity to stay in the Eastern Conference, a chance to win now, and a fondness for D.C. are just a few reasons why James could consider the nation’s capital.
Wall,Beal, and Lebron is not beating Boston, might not even beat Raptors with Nurse at the helm now. I think Nurse will bring out the best in Toronto and turn Jonás into an all-star next season.
Wall, beal, and LeBron wouldn’t beat the raptors but LeBron and love swept the raptors? It would be a tighter series against Boston but they’d still win. Drugs are bad for you.
Well you are not thinking about the impact Nurse will have on the Raptors. I believe he will change them up mentally and have them playing a different style of basketball which will in turn make them a lot more dynamic.
What do you know of Nurse?
So LeBron can sweep the Raptors with one all star in Love, but can’t beat them with an all star backcourt in Wall and Beal. Wizards would definitely win that series. They won two games without LeBron, when they were still half injured as Wall was coming back.
It doesn’t matter if He is a Nurse or a Doctor, LeBron would destroy Raptors with Wall and Beal.
Lmfao
I highly doubt it.
DeRozan and Lowry are chokers. They brought in a Nurse to perform the heimlich.
Just cut it with the jokes dude, Kyle and Demar are a great combo maybe they just needed a new voice. Don’t count out the Raptors next season, specially with OG Anunoby getting a featured role.
Dionis that’s some irony, 99% of your trade notions and signings are jokes. And we know what Lowry and DeRozan are… good, not great players. Good players get you to the playoffs they keep you in the game for the first 43 minues. Great players want the ball when the game is on the line and can handle the pressure. Great players take over a game.
Dionis, like everything you say on here is troll type content. Kyle and DeMar have choked the playoffs away year after year. What makes you think they would beat a Big Three featuring the best player in the world?
I keep seeing all these random teams suggested for LeBron. The only places with a chance at him are LA, Cleveland, and maybe Philly. That’s it.
San Antonio is in the running. And I think Clippers are an underdog
I do think that San Antonio is a good possibility, though they are a very bad team, they would need definitely more than him to challenge, maybe revisiting a move for CP3, then maybe between the 2 of them they would make them contenders. Clippers are probably a better option but again they would need more than just him, & cannot see CP3 going back to the Clips.
The Spurs are a very bad team? In what world?
It could happen. Lebron for Otto Porter, Satorinsky, maybe Jason Smith, 15th, 44th, 2019 1st. Wizrds go from good to great, Cavs from great to not bad, and James can dine with senators. In several years Cavs have OPorter and some good youngsters, maybe MPorter, & room for James.
1Wall Frazier, 2Beal Meeks, 3James Oubre, 4Markieff Scott, 5Gortat Manhimi
It could happen in Boston & Philly too, but it doesn’t seem like the red carpet is being rolled out. HOU & LAL will have stripped rosters w/James. Most teams don’t have a package that would interest both James or CLE, or have cap room.
LAL wouldn’t have a stripped roster. They have cap space to sign him or George. If they can somehow move deng and renounce randle then they probably can fit both. They will be wing heavy and give up 200 points per game, but they could do it
Stretch Deng and there is 7 players at ~$29MM. Add 2 maxes, ~$70MM, equals ~$99MM, so basically 3-6 min wage hires. No Randle, Lopez, etc. Nothing changes in the future. Probably Ingram could land something.
Yes they could do it. Nevermind above. It will be interesting who will be on their roster next fall. The rich and the poor, like LA
As a Celtics fan I wouldn’t like him joining the Wizards cause that would be a pretty dangerous team, but boy would I like to have Durant have literally zero fans besides bandwagon Warriors fans who still love Curry more
The biggest mistake of this league is the Max contract… like everyone just gives out a max contract to non deserving players. And when you have dumb teams like the Nets giving offer sheets, it forces teams to overpay for their own players. Otto Porter is a NICE player he is NOT a max guy. He is paid like it tho. CJ McCollum is a Nicer player, still not a max guy imo. There are maybe 10 guys in this league that should be Max level. LeBron, Durant, Curry, Harden, Westbrook, Lillard, AD, Giannis are the most obvious.
The trade is…
Otto Porter Jr. + Satoransky for LeBron. That’s a solid re-build start for the Cavs.
Once you see who falls to you in the draft at 8, you figure out what you do with Love. If you select Michael Porter Jr. You should trade Love and embrace the youth movement 100%. If you select Trae Young or Collin Sexton, you keep Love b/c that team can compete. You get into trouble if you draft Wendell Carter Jr. b/c you’ll need to dump Tristan Thompson. I like him, but I’d play him at the 5 with Love on the roster versus at the 4 with Thompson.
Also depends on what the return is for Love.
If the Cavs can roll out this lineup next season there is no way they miss the playoffs.
Sexton-JR-Otto-Love-Tristan
We have to take into account that who ever coaches the Cavs whether that is Lue or a new coach, they’ll be able to run a system not catered to Lebron. Sexton is a winner also, he’s not coming to the NBA to lose.
Get-up! throwing out … LeBron, PG13, and Kawhi but somehow keeping Ingram, Ball, Kuzma, Hart? lol I guess they think Deng for Kawhi straight up is good enough.
Sorry in LAL*
