The Timberwolves have talked to at least two teams about acquiring another pick, Darren Wolfson of KSTP tweets. Those inquiries regarded another first-round selection, though a high second-rounder could also appeal to the team, Wolfson adds.
The Timberwolves own the No. 20 and No. 48 picks. They have a lot of roster spots to fill with only eight players on fully guaranteed deals next season. However, with a handful making between $14MM-$25.25MM they are already over the cap.
Thus, most of the players they add to the roster will have to come with low pricetags. Another first-round pick outside the lottery or second-rounder would help facilitate that goal.
Why so Thibs can bury them on the bench? He only plays 7 guys anyway…
I would fire Thibs, if he can’t get Wiggins and Butler on the same page he should be fired immediately. If Wiggins does not perform or become the 2 way player we are expecting he needs to go.
If they want to make a serious leap in the draft they have to trade either Wiggins or Butler. Butler is expendable if you ask me, he’s a free agent next season and might leave to join Kyrie on the Brooklyn Nets. Move Butler to Memphis for the 4th pick and draft Trae Young who would better compliment Wiggins and Towns. Butler can compete for a ring with Conley and Gasol for 1 season and decide if he wants to re-sign with them.
Delusion.
The first half of that is a good idea. You lost me at “draft Trae Young”, though.
Four is WAY too high for a 6’0 guy who became a sensation by consistently forcing bad shots and occasionally getting lucky.
He lost me at “compete for a ring with Conley and Gasol.” LeBron would have difficulty turning Memphis into a title contender next season, let alone Butler.
“If you ask me”…. we didn’t. No one did. No one ever does
Not my fault you are having a bad day buddy.
You’re right, it’s not. In fact, reading your nonsense is entertaining
KAT to phx, phx includes pics and Bender and Alan William’s for trade machine
Phoenix would need number one overall then
Yah, for KAT phx would give all its picks and then some of they only include big sauce.
Actually just Alan William’s salary would suffice
Wiggins and Teague for Kemba, Kidd-Gilchrist, Mozgov, 11 overall
Yes please.
Hornets don’t give up both Kemba and 11.
Yupp. I’d say he’s throwing quite a bit in the wall to see if something might stick. I just want to know what he’s smoking.
Sorry wrong box.
Phx could send tj Warren and Chris’s for KAT to match salaries and give up the picks needed to make this deal real.
The wolves wouldn’t trade KAT for any of that. Nice pipe dream though.
There is a lot more to a trade than just making the salaries fit. The salaries fir for a Sixers/Bulls trade of Ben Simmons for Cristiano Felicio, but I don’t think that trade will happen anytime soon. Even if the Bulls included all their picks from this year and next year with it.
Sixers will give you one for a future 2nd.
They need to trade Wiggins and build around Butler and KAT. Could trade him for good pieces to match salaries up. Giving him that max contract will backfire if they decide to keep him.
Exactly. That’s why the pieces don’t have to be good. And before july 1 they only have to add up to about $6mil.
Posters are rejecting Wiggins trades, but IDK from which end!
Wiggins is actually virtually impossible to trade before July because of the poison pill provision that applies to players who sign rookie scale extensions.
Up until June 30, his outgoing salary from the Wolves’ perspective would be his current cap hit ($7.57MM), but his incoming salary for a trade partner would be the average of this year + all his extension years ($25.67MM). The disparity between the two makes it all but impossible for both teams to properly match salaries.
So if he gets traded, it’ll be sometime in July or later.
Bogdanovic, Temple, Shumpert, and #37 for Wiggins
Nope
lol
You sure that’s enough? Shouldn’t the T-Wolves add Towns, Butler, and about 5 first rounders to that deal too? Wow.
You obviously super overvalue Wiggins…this same deal probably could get DeRozan too
Come on guys give Wiggins some love, he made almost 24PPG last season he is better than all that garbage & trash been thrown about he must be about 20PPG in his career despite this bad season, he ain’t that bad, & it looked good enough to get that contract until Butler came, so… some respect he is a good player with a chance to become a star.
Contract was bad when it was signed
Why even bother? Thibs can’t develop young talent. He never even plays them.
