The Grizzlies have signed 2018 second-round pick Jevon Carter to a multi-year contract, the club announced in a press release.
The 32nd overall pick arrives in Memphis after four seasons at West Virginia and will compete with Kobi Simmons for reps at the backup point guard position.
Carter is currently with Memphis’ summer league squad competing in Vegas and has averaged 12.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game.
Good for Carter. Really liked watching him play at WVU
Good for this young man. He certainly deserves it, and has worked his tail off to get where he is now.
Not that other players don’t work hard, but Carter wasn’t gifted at birth with amazing athleticism. He isn’t extremely tall, he isn’t incredibly fast or strong, and nor does he have unusually long arms nor big hands, BUT he was born with one heck of a work ethic instilled in him..
Anything he gives you offensively is a plus, Carter is THAT good defensively. I can easily see him carving out a nice role as a backup PG in the NBA for the next decade, and he should he extremely proud all of his hard work is finally paying off!!
He’s like a more built and less athletic Briante Weber. Him and Daxter Miles were fun to watch
My favorite player to watch in college last year. He’ll play 12-15 years in the nba. Gonna have an awesome career as a dependable backup PG.
He’s a former baseball player as well! Bulldog. I think Simmons is better off as an off ball guard who can run pick and rolls and score. He’s a natural scorer.
