While the second day of the 2018 NBA free agent period didn’t feature as many contract agreements as day one, we still got a handful of major news items, plus one genuine jaw-dropper when DeMarcus Cousins decided on his new team.
Listed below are July 2’s notable NBA contract agreements. For the most part, these deals aren’t yet official, so the reported terms could change — or agreements could fall through altogether. Generally speaking though, teams and players are on track to finalize these deals sometime after the July moratorium ends on Friday.
Here’s our breakdown of July 2’s notable NBA contract agreements:
- Derrick Favors, Jazz agree to two-year, $36MM contract.
- Julius Randle, Pelicans agree to two-year, $17.71MM contract.
- J.J. Redick, Sixers agree to one-year contract worth approximately $12-13MM.
- Rajon Rondo, Lakers agree to one-year, $9MM contract.
- Anthony Tolliver, Timberwolves agree to one-year, $5.75MM contract.
- Seth Curry, Trail Blazers agree to two-year contract worth an estimated $5.64MM.
- DeMarcus Cousins, Warriors agree to one-year, $5.34MM contract.

We’re living in a world where Anthony Tolliver is making more than DeMarcus Cousins
Hahahaha :-)
Well to be fair, Cousins won’t be playing until 2019 and is coming off of a serious injury. Also, he might want to win a title now.
The Eastern Conference was just renamed the Boston Invitational.
Meh, 76ers are better.
The 76ers lost to a Boston team that didn’t have Hayward or Kyrie. So what, precisely, are you basing that opinion on?
Make no mistake Philly is way better than Boston, you see Philly has got 2 generational talents while Boston is got a lot of good players & some stars but not a player that can change completely a franchise like Simmons & Embiid. Sorry Boston you need a lot to get better… if only you could had lured DMC, things might have been different.
Yet Boston beat the Sixers 4-1 in the playoffs last year, without Kyrie and Hayward.
As a sixers fan I can honestly say that the sixers are not better than the Celtics, but I would rather have the foundation of embiid and Simmons over the Celtics plethora of assets. These two teams are going to rule the east for a while and this rivalry will return to being one of the best in basketball
The Celtics are always going to be able to figure Simmons out & frustrate him. Philly needs to get a good real PG, if they can’t get Kawhi.
Sixers are going to surprise everyone! this isn’t over they will be the best team in the East yes they lost to Boston this season next season will be very different
Cant something be done about parity in the league? I mean really, the last 5 years we have know who is going to the finals. This year its Warriors vs Celtics. Smh. Boring af!!!
