Former Cavaliers guard Isaiah Thomas has apologized for making a profane reference to Cleveland in an Instagram video, according to an ESPN story.
Thomas, who had a frustrating 15-game stay with the Cavaliers last season, used a vulgar term to describe the city, then added, “I can see why LeBron left — again.” He later posted a second video to Instagram in an effort to smooth over those remarks.
“Nah, Cleveland was cool,” he said. “I shouldn’t have said that, that was my bad. I was just talking on IG Live, I didn’t think it was gonna get to where they’re posting it.”
Thomas was considered a key part of last summer’s blockbuster trade that sent Kyrie Irving to the Celtics. However, his hip injury forced him to miss about half the season before making his Cleveland debut.
He averaged 14.7 PPG during his time with the Cavs, but became a scapegoat for the team’s poor performance on defense and tensions in the locker room. Thomas was traded to the Lakers in February and signed with the Nuggets in free agency last month.
When he says stuff like this, similar to the Brinks truck comment a few years back, I don’t feel so bad for his current predicament being a last option in Denver. I wish he could just be more humble.
At least he didn’t call Denver a s*** hole, that would be awkward
Yet
IT always means what he says, he just wishes he didn’t say it later. Kyrie said when he got to Boston, it feels good to be in a real sports town. Like I say Brad Stevens and Gordon Hayward are from Indy, me too. I like Kyrie, he’s an all star. The experts have Golden State over Houston in the west, and Boston and Toronto in the east. I hope Kyrie signs a 5 year max contract and it’s Boston and Golden State the next 4 years in the Finals. I hope Boston gets the 2nd pick in next years draft from Sacramento, and the 8th pick from Memphis. Want Indiana to do well, but don’t think they can beat Boston.
It’s possible, but I doubt the Warriors are still a team in 2-3 seasons. I think Klay and KD will be chasing money soon
Both have stated publicly they want to stay with the Warriors. Klay has said he wants to finish his career with Steph. Klay and Durant both have lucrative shoe deals in China. Klay’s dad was a longtime NBA player. Golden State opens it’s new arena next season, so that gives them extra money along with the tv revenue and winning the championship. Even with their salary, Golden State made money last year.
Mio, Klay has said he will go for the top dollar, and he wants to get paid.
KD is chasing his own legacy. He is in the position to where he will go only where it makes sense to him. If he wanted to commit long term to GSW, he would have already. His contract this year would’ve made that happen.
Don’t be fooled by being a fan to the reality of the situation .
You aren’t reading from the same place as I am. I’ll stick with the professional writers.
The Thompson part is directly what he said… His actual quote.
As far as KD, look past homer-friendly writers, because those that do that are selling papers, where as those who look at the league as a whole (who I listen to) are not paid to keep fans happy, but paid to be objective.
There is nothing wrong for you to wish they would stay, but you have to look at all the factors, instead of just the ones that suit your opinion and viewpoints.
Correct me if im wrong but professional writers had said durant was gonna stay in okc so i mean they arent always right
I’m not sure where you read that, but I read he was going to listen to offers, which tells me he was looking.
That year, they even mentioned Washington as a favorite, and this year, it was no surprise he resigned.
I just know that home team writers and radio hosts sell hope to fans, so be very skeptical when listening to what they say. Those who retort the league as a whole just be more objective, so they don’t automatically subscribe to local rumors unless they have heard it directly from a reliable source.
Like when LeBron came back to the Cavs saying he was staying and finishing his career there?
And is LeBron’s career over yet? That’s what I thought. Lmao!
LMAO? Its not that funny. My comment was to people who think what a player says is gospel. I know he’ll be back and retire in CLE. LMAO???
Kyrie thinks the earth is flat and IT thinks the Brinks truck is backing up to his house.
I am not sure if you are aware but no one cares that you are from indy and Brad and Gordon are too so you don’t have to mention it every post. Its irrelevant to all of your points and doesn’t make you seem more credible or whatever your aim is
Don’t care what you think! I’m with the Celtics fans now!!
I’ve had to listen to the Cavs stuff for so long. Now it’s my turn to gloat!! Go Brad. Go Gordon. Go Kyrie!!!
No one forced you to listen to anything about the Cavs
It was either that or don’t use this sight. Go Celtics!!!
Go KYRIE!!!!
Make that site!! I’m going to enjoy this season very very much!!! Go Kyrie!!!!
Celtics rookie Robert Williams bought an apartment next to the practice facility so he won’t be late any more.
As opposed to us that have been to both cities multiple times?
Use what Site? The part if this site dedicated to covering the Cavs? They have a Boston one, so why not go there and stop reading the Cavs stuff.
Never apologize or bow to the radical pc culture. If you don’t like Cleveland that’s fine, own it.
Cleveland is pretty gross though. The browns are the most spot on name choice.
Cleveland is a great spot to be. IT just jealous he didn’t get on the championship.
Oh. and I hope he makes a team this season. Wouldn’t want him not to be able to come back and play in the Q,
Most people who live in the same place for a long time do like it there. I don’t like Cleveland, but I like it where I’m at. I lived in Indy 40 years, so I liked it there. Most pro athletes prefer to be in the south in warmer climates. Just like I don’t like LeBron, you guys don’t like Kyrie! I do. Go Boston!
How you from Indy but band wagon on Boston?
Cleveland sucks balls
IT should apologize to Cleveland for playing poorly last year and being a team cancer.
Although IT should learn to keep his mouth shut it’s all part of why a 5’ 7” player scored 29+ points a game against the best players in the world only 2 years ago. That edge as a little man drives him to be the best he can be. If he gets healthy and performs to that level he will get paid but opening his mouth with those comments will not help his reputation. I don’t see him getting a max contract based on his age and lack of size to play D against other 1’s and 2’s but he should make some good coin.
”We can all see that Lebron left again, Capt. Obvious. Now we can all see why IT gets pushed out of every NBA locker room he has ever been in”. He has a big mouth for a little man & IT gets him into trouble. The checks cashed, it’s not like D. Gilbert cheated him out of cash. Let it go IT & start thinking of who will take you next year. Always Orlando, Last Chance Saloon. He upset the locker room in Cleveland & has to figure out it is not about ME
You hardly can compare Denver to Cleveland, really Colorado is a much nicer place to live, right? Go IT.
Don’t be fooled by relatively more recently built housing. There’s places where deperate people live in Denver too, it just doesn’t look like ghetto. I was only there one time & almost got stabbed in a phone booth!
To be fair to Thomas, Cleveland was a s___hole to him personally, although IMO it was mutual.
Fans were not happy about how he dealt with his hip (not getting it fixed in the offseason), and how he refused to consider coming off the bench at least initially, before the playoffs. He kept saying he wasn’t ready, but that he had to start. tf
There was good feelings when he finally got out there but that did not last.0
But he could actually make a whole team better if they followed his cues (i.e., Orlando).
You are right, every city has their desperate areas. I had to spend a night in a hospital in downtown Cleveland one night. The parking lot said leave your vehicle at your own risk. Makes you not want to stay. You guys like anybody from Cleveland. I like anybody from Indy (Cleveland and Indy are both 2 of the worst crime cities in the U.S. data shows). I’m high on Boston because of Stevens and Hayward being from Indy. I’m glad the Pacers are doing so well. Growing up I always liked the Harlem Globetrotters. In the old days you had a longer shotclock. I just enjoy watching basketball when they pass the ball a lot, and everybody gets involved. Bobby Knight is my all time favorite coach and he preached it. Seeing Steph, Klay, and Durant passing the ball makes me feel good. It’s why I don’t watch all star games. I think the Cavs will be enjoyable to watch this season. You should see Kevin Love standing next to Yao Ming. He looks like a little kid.
On that note. I went to a Pacer game in downtown Indy. They stole 3 of my hubcaps. I went to a junk dealer a few days later and bought them back. Ticket prices are sky high compared to see games. It’s cheaper to get the NBA League pass.
You do know know Kyrie doesn’t really pass the call right? Lol
It’s really hard to root for these NBA stars sometimes. They seem to get more self-infatuated every year.
