The Lakers can improve their 3-point shooting in a variety of ways during the upcoming season, as Mark Trudell of the Lakers’ website details. While the Lakers didn’t add quality shooters in free agency to compliment LeBron James, they have some other options who can help them greatly improve upon their second-to-last showing from long range, Trudell continues. Brandon Ingram, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Josh Hart and Kyle Kuzma shot 38.5% or better on threes after the All-Star break last season, Trudell notes. Rookies Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk and Moe Wagner can help in that area, and the playmaking of James and Rajon Rondo can also facilitate more open looks from deep, Trudell adds.
We have more from around the Pacific Division:
- Mykhailiuk will play for the Ukranian national team in the FIBA World Cup qualifying tournament next month, according to the Ukranian Federation, Oleksandr Proshuta tweets. Mykhailiuk is paying for his own insurance in case he’s injured during the event, Proshuta adds.
- The Kings announced a number of hires to the front office staff in a team press release. Teena Murray has been named Senior Director of Athlete Health and Performance. Other hires to the training staff include Mike Roncarati as Head of Prevention and Reconditioning; Joe Resendez as Head Athletic Trainer; Jesse Green as Performance Analyst. Other additions and promotions include Elizabeth Ramsey as Director of Basketball Operations and Intelligence; Gene Cross as Director of Amateur Scouting; Chris Alpert and Acie Law as regional scouts; and Robbie Lemons as Scouting Coordinator.
- A decision on whether Clippers guard Milos Teodosic and center Boban Marjanovic will play for Serbia’s national team during the FIBA World Cup qualifying tournament in September will be made this week, according to a Sportando report. Serbia plays Greece and Estonia in the event.
The link says Mykhailiuk is playing for Ukraine.
Ukraine, Serbia…Practically same place, no need to change..lol
All lame jokes aside though, it is interesting to hear that Mykhailiuk has to pay for his own health insurance, while he participates in The FIBA World Cup Qualifiers…
Does anyone know if this is commonplace for ALL NBA players participating in this event??
If not, why does Mykhailiuk have to pay for his own insurance??
FYI- I’m also proud of myself for not having to look up his name once..lol I previously had just memorized it by separating it into MY-K-HAIL-IUK…lol
The Lebron James system will be in full effect. I already see it, Lebron at the top of the key for 14 seconds and 50 pick and rolls each game. Say goodbye Luke Walton, you’ll be gone by February. I wonder who will be the new coach, maybe LeGM will take control. Magic seems like he’ll be shining Lebron’s shoes over the next 4 seasons, good luck to the Laker fan base with that LeDiva.
How many time are you gonna flip flop on Lebron.
Never again, he’s a scrub.
Pole like you always crave for attention lol
I do think this Lakers team is build the right way to beat GSW, no need for more or better shooters. The other day Kobe said the same that I have been saying for a long time, you cannot beat the Warriors playing the Warriors way, it just won’t happen, you have to do it with a different style of play, this Lakers team is build with strong physicality, defence, playmakers, high basketball IQ guys…. I am actually quite excited to see how they perform. Can’t wait for the season’s start, I think this could be one of the best seasons ever.
Dude the Lakers won’t be winning anything but 2nd round exits the next 4 years.
LeBron falls over if the wind blows too hard. What physicality? And high IQ guys, have you ever seen McGee play basketball? Only way the Lakers beat the Warriors is in a regular season game when Kerr decides to rest everyone.
Improve your 3pt stats by trading for Vucevic.
I agree. Send the Magic Deng, a future 1st and prob have to throw a future 2nd too. Lakes would have to take a little more salary back so maybe Khem Birch gets included. Or Magic send Vucevic and T Ross for Deng, a 1st, a 2nd and Lance when he’s avail to be traded. Maybe sweetened w rights to Bonga. Don’t see Lance working well in LA w bron.
LeBron James is God
