Pelicans star Anthony Davis has parted ways with longtime agent Thad Foucher, according to Brian Windhorst and Ramona Shelburne of ESPN. Players are required to file paperwork with the players’ union and wait 15 days before changing agents, ESPN adds.
Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, who represents LeBron James, is reportedly a “leading contender” to became Davis’ new representative.
Davis, 25, has two years and $52MM left on his deal with the New Orleans in addition to a $29MM player option for the 2020/21 campaign. In 75 games last season, Davis averaged 28.1 PPG and 11.1 RPG, finishing third in NBA Most Valuable Player voting.
While Davis’ agent change doesn’t necessarily mean anything in and of itself, it may make some Pelicans fans anxious, Scott Kushner of The Advocate tweets. As Kushner notes, then-Hornets guard Chris Paul switched agents in 2010 shortly before requesting a trade.
There have been waves of trade speculation surrounding Davis, who could eventually look to join a bigger-market organization if the Pelicans don’t move any closer toward title contention within the next year or two.
Here we go with the AD to Lakers rumors.
If he played with LeBron, he would have to shoot threes and stay outta the lane. Please don’t do that to a superstar big man in a league starved of great big men. Stay away from LeBron, AD! And I don’t care if Bosh and Love won a ring, their games are painful to watch with LeBron. Maybe I’m old school but I like seeing big men in the paint.
i don’t know if AD will leave but you can’t really blame him if he does
He’s not leaving.
Until next offseason when he asks for a trade…
Can’t wait to see AD leave the pelicans they tried to build around him but have gotten unlucky
He wanted Julius Randle and hit him up as soon as he was eligible to sign. He’s happy in New Orleans doubt he leaves.
AD to the Heat. You heard it here first.
If you wanna get out or sign a new deal, you stick with your agent, right? Don’t see why a change of agent means the player wants out, wouldn’t make sense to me. Having said that regardless of the new agent, AD to Lakers, Boston or GSW would look great, specially to the Lakers.
You know if he demands a trade, which is possible but not likely this year, there is a team loaded with assets that will probably end up with him. And no it’s not the lakers. AD for Tatum, Smart, SAC 1st and whatever else BOS has to give up for him. And that’s how you rebuild.
2019 Pels lineup
C Hmmm…maybe Okafor or Bol Bol(w SAC 1st)
PF Randle
SF Tatum
SG Smart
PG Holiday
Imagine trying to score on that backcourt. And then 2019 BOS would just be ridiculous…
C Horford
PF Davis
SF Hayward
SG Brown
PG Irving
I think Irving would have to be in the trade to meet to meet NBA contract rules. Or, just, not on a team with Davis on it. I forget the rule (which is not intuitive) or why it exists. It needs a googleable name like Bird or Arenas.
You are right there is something about the 2 of them together. I think this season that applies but by the time Kyrie opts out next year I’m not sure.
