The Lakers secured LeBron James this summer, which has led to speculation about which elite talents can potentially be paired with the four-time Most Valuable Player. Mark Heisler of the Orange County Register looks at Pelicans’ superstar Anthony Davis, who tops the Lakers’ wish list, according to Heisler.
Speculation of Davis’ possible desire to eventually land in L.A. was fueled when he fired his longtime agent to hire Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, who also represents James. For his part, the Chicago native downplayed the switch in representation means that he’s eyeing the Lakers. Instead, his focus is to be part of a winning culture.
“Winning definitely helps everything, helps with your legacy, helps be on the top of the list,” Davis said. “But going to the playoffs every three years doesn’t help my case.”
- When the Lakers did sign James, the entire dynamic of the team’s on-court expectations changed. With a superstar of James’ caliber, expectations rise, attention is commanded, and every move is scrutinized. Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports writes that the organization is still getting acclimated to the “LeBron Effect.” The team started 0-3 and it seemed that panic mode was all but the norm, but after two straight wins, that flurry of doubt has simmered, but with James around, this will be the culture to get used to.
- Despite being waived by the Lakers, Johnathan Williams re-signed to a two-way pact and has made the most of his NBA opportunity. Tania Ganguli and Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times look at Williams’ journey from college to the professional level and how he is fueled by the initial disappointment of being waived.
- In our earlier edition of L.A. Notes, we looked at Lance Stephenson‘s early play for the Lakers, Luke Walton‘s fine and more.
LeBron always needs the biggest star in the game to win. First Wade, than Kyrie, now AD? LeBron is garbage.
I don’t think LeBron is garbage but I do think he will have to have a triple double every game for the Lakers to Win ..??
LeBron never has any help according to the Bronsexuals. Everywhere he goes a team has to get retooled and coaches have to get fired, it’s a headache with that bum everywhere he goes.
Wouldn’t it be nice to hear LeBron giving “some” credit to his peers?
Lmao @ Bronsexuals!! haha…That really did me a good laugh..Much better than the oft-repeated Bronapologists..lol..Love it..
Also, I agree LeBron is definitely a my way or the highway diva. He has to have his “coach” or really what ends up being his lead assistant. He has to have his entourage around him at all times, his hand-picked teammates, and he wants to play GM, except when hes put his team in a financial albatross, due to giving his friends ridiculous contracts!! He consistently held Cleveland hostage, and there’s a huge reason he left Cleveland in such disrepair each time he left..It has nothing to do with how good LeBron is/was, it’s because he bled them dry of resources, surrounding himself with nothing but a collection of players that solely complimented him..
At first, he had some fortitude, wanting to will himself and his teammates against Boston, thinking he’d win a title by himself…Then, he realized he was not good enough to win a title alone, so joined forced with Bosh and Wade to stack the deck in the weakest conference for a title..
LeBron is an extremely talented basketball player, but those that act like he’s God, they will probably be the same people that would vote the bipolar “genius” Kanye for president..lol..
Throughout time, he’s lost his edge, but now it seems like he’s finally starting to tone down his primadonna ways…Now, if Walton gets fired next year, and they start bringing in more of LeBron’s guys, trading away their young, talented players, then it’ll speak volumes, and tell me he hasn’t grown up at all…
Regardless, great player, but for the majority of his career he couldn’t be counted in the clutch..For the majority, he whined for calls, only hustled on defense to make highlight blocks, and he couldn’t handle losing like a professional..
If he never would have had his “decision”, stayed in Cleveland, and allowed the front office and coaches do their jobs, instead of holding them hostage, unless they resigned certain friends to absurd contracts, Smith and TT, among a couple others, then I’d probably feel much differently…Facts are facts though, and for me his legacy is clearly tainted…
Well I guess he needs bout 50 triple dubs to make the playoffs? As for Davis any D will do AD or KD .
AD won’t be available for 2 years. You’ll find out where Durant is staying next July.
Need a hug?
Doesn’t really matter does it? If a star comes you’ll say he only wins because of stars, if a star doesn’t come you’ll say no one wants to play with LeBron. If he wins without stars you’ll say it was because of Ingram/Kuzma/NBA conspiracy/refs.
Please enlighten us all on what a man with 8 straight finals appearances needs to do for you to consider him a decent basketball player.
He played with 2 all stars through 7 of those and only made the 8th cause Kyrie was hurt.
If LeBron had played in the western conference instead of the eastern conference, we wouldn’t even be talking about these Finals. LeBron has always looked out for LeBron and taken the easy way out. LordBanana is a 1st team Bronsexual.
People should look around at their circle-jerk group if they want to be haters. It’s the worst kind.
This is the no. 1 Bronsexual. I’m going to remember him when LeBron doesn’t play in another final. Go Kyrie.
LeBron hasn’t been MVP in the past 5 years. AD won’t be a free agent for 2 more years. Steph has the early lead for MVP this year, followed by Giannis and Kawhi.
Steph is playing like a man on a mission. I think being kind of overlooked the last couple of years has him fired up.
Kenton hasn’t won the MVP the last few years but he has sure a he’ll could have especially last year
But LeBron didn’t. The voters selected James Harden last season.
Don’t sleep on Dame.
BINGO
I hadn’t really seen that much of Bron before. I am kind of surprised how good a passer he is. I think you all have it wrong so far. I see him share the ball, much more so than Kobe. He’s trusting his team mates. I wouldn’t call Irving and Wade anywhere close to the biggest stars in the league. That makes no sense. And we’ve been in every single game. Give it 2 months and see how they are playing.
Wade was All NBA when Miami played for the championships. Kyrie is a 5 time all star. Kuzma didn’t get his points tonight. LeBron got 35 as the Lakers lost again. I watched the Pacers beat the Cavs twice tonight (watched the replay too). Kept thinking I feel sorry for Sexton. LeBron left Kyrie with this poop when he was a rookie too.
Kuzma had 22 against Denver, 15 tonight.
LeBron said this week that last years Cavs were the worst that he has dragged into the playoffs. LeBron’s legacy will show all his finals came from a weaker conference.
