The Warriors winning their third straight title seems much less likely now than it did prior to the season. Golden State’s appears mortal on the court and off the court, there’s plenty to be concerned about even if Kevin Durant claims the tiff with Draymond Green won’t impact his long-term decision making.
The team suspended Green for the altercation and according to Tim Kawakami of The Athletic, both coach Steve Kerr and GM Bob Myers believed that the chemistry of the entire team was at stake. They wanted to make sure the situation didn’t develop into a series of “personal grievances and lingering resentments,” Kawakami writes. The suspension was handed down to prevent Green from dictating the mood and terms for the remainder of the season into the offseason.
Team management was upset that the move was viewed as the organization picking Durant over Green. While it’s easy to look at it that way, the decision to suspend Green had more to do with making sure the chemistry of the team would remain repairable.
If Durant leaves, the Warriors want it to be because it was his own choice and not because another player was barking at him.
This will not impact them winning the title this year before there’s no team good enough to beat them four out of seven times.
They gonna win
Still seems like they chose Durant over Green.
Clearly they chose Durant over green? How can you believe they didn’t when they only punished one player? Green had every right to say what he did. Durant has already sold out once and looks like he will again. Golden state is the new patriots. The media will find any issue and blow it outta proportion question is can golden state withstand it like the patriots have and be the top team for multiple decades. I think not after seeing how they responded to this situation. Short run on top imo just to try n save the face of the franchise when we all know Durant is 99% gonna walk.
how did green have every right to say what he did, without any type of punishment?
How did Durant?
Either punish both of them or neither. Durant started the fight anyway. He’s not a coach. If he wants to talk down to other players he should expect them to talk down right back to him.
Patriots have been the top team for multiple decades? LOL…. And by that you mean? Like less than 20 years? I mean, I agree it’s impressive, I’m not arguing that…. But that’s more than a little grandiose.
Bring his “sell out” ass for a Walk right on down Broadway .. NYK !
Yeah? They’re not even getting to the finals this year.
All Durant wanted was a title
Now he got two
Now he goes after supermax contract
What ever that is
Greedy like all pro athletes
No more loyalty
He can’t get a supermax…
He hasn’t even left yet…. he hasn’t even said he’s going to leave and your labeling him with all that.
Everyone wants loyalty when it benefits them. What about Raptors loyalty to DeRozen? Same thing
Green went out of line & was worthy of suspension. But, he’s not the type to see it that way. He can’t even handle a one game suspension when he’s injured anyway!
It’s karma chameleon for all the GSW fans who still harp on Green’s suspension in the 2016 finals as if it was some external event not related to Green’s actions. Stuff like that enables more bad behavior, if the blame can be passed to someone else.
Green should be riding out another title year in comfort but no.
Green wants the max contract himself and he can’t get it with Durant there.
I am aware of that. He is likely to be squeezed out of the team he cruciallly helped push to the top, at a discount, by a latecomer. But there is one more run to see through.
He could, instead, spend the year “barking” at KD to get him to leave, suiting his own agenda while causing KD to lose interest, but Myers made the right call to try to nip that plan in the bud. If that’s what that was.
It was okay he blew up, but those words went beyond that.
I don’t think they picked one over the other i think they did what was best to keep things on track , i think they want both to work it out and if not at least not kill each other , Green seems like a tough dude but Durant got some fire ..
