As the 2019 trade deadline approaches, more and more reports are surfacing regarding which teams are looking to make additions to their roster ahead of this season’s stretch run. Ken Berger of Bleacher Report recently wrote about the Bradley Beal sweepstakes, in which it is revealed that the Raptors may be looking to add an elite shooting guard this season.
The Raptors have been one of the best teams – if not the best team – in the league so far this season and certainly have the ingredients on their roster for a run to the NBA Finals. However, the team’s shooting has slipped in recent weeks as they are down to 34.3% shooting on 3-pointers, good for 24th in the league (they rank 11th in attempts per game).
While it may be hard for the Raptors to enter the Beal sweepstakes (especially if the Wizards aren’t focused on moving him), it shouldn’t surprise anyone if Toronto does make a move to add another shooter to its rotation for the remainder of the season.
There’s more from the Atlantic division:
- Marcus Smart continues to shoot lights out (for his standards) from beyond the arc, which is helping him provide more value for the Celtics. As Chris Forsberg of NBC Sports Boston points out, Smart is now shooting nearly 37 percent from beyond the arc, which is above league-average and well above his career average.
- After rolling out a dual big man lineup involving Al Horford and Aron Baynes for 863 minutes last season, Celtics coach Brad Stevens is planning on going back to the tandem more moving forward, as Taylor Snow reveals for the team’s website.
- After it was revealed that Kyrie Irving called LeBron James to apologize for being stubborn when he was a younger player, Chris Forsberg writes that Irving should be praised for admitting his imperfections.
Kyrie called LeBron so he has another team possibly bidding on him next year if he wants to leave Boston.
Kyrie is not going to L.A. Kyrie is not leaving Boston, unless Ainge says gtfo. Truth.
Kind of related; imagine Boston with a real knock -down shooter with all the open looks they get.
gordon hayward was supposed to be that guy. crazy how a brilliant shooter has lost his touch – c’s would be dominate if he ever figures things out
Crazy? Dude shattered his ankle. It’ll take more than just a few months to get his head and body back to where it once was. That’s not crazy at all?
paul george returned < 1 year to all star status and is still balln w/o issue.
Note: Gordon Hayward is not Paul George
Note #2: George’s injury was not the same that Gordon suffered
Note #3: George’s injury happened in the off season so he basically had the whole off season and an entire season to get back, IOT play 15 minutes a game for 6 games and then had another entire off season.
Conclusion: you don’t know what you’re talking about
Great, they both showed up! Sorry for double post. Lol
Ha
If the Raptors get Beal man, might as well trade Jimmy Buckets for those 4 1st rounders from the Rockets.
Beal to Toronto
Shumpert, Koufos, Anunoby, Richardson to Washington
Powell and Miles and a distant future 1st to the Kings.
Doubt that’s enough. But it works financially. Hard to see them parting with role players like Siakam, Green, VanVleet or Wright.
Not even close to enough. Beal is a star. You need to give something up to get something. Of Powell, miles and anunoby, anunoby has the most upside and it isn’t near Beal. Anunoby is a solid role player but that’s it
Star? I mean he is a 1x All Star. He’s a nice player. He’s nice like CJ McCollum is nice. But he has no ‘Star’ power behind his name. It’s 50/50 a casual fan even knows who he is. Everyone on here knows he’s a valuable player.
How are you building a trade package for Beal from Toronto then? Where the money works and Washington doesn’t take back contracts they don’t want.
Tough to call Pascal Siakam a role player at this point
why won’t the media report the real truth that star players don’t want to play with diva james ie pg13, durant, kyrie, etc. sooner vs later it’s going to cost luke walton’s job
They have. Does Beadle count? Steven A? But where do you go with that “story”.
without players going public i have’t seen one “anti lebron” article. ray allen had a chance to return for another ring but couldn’t stand lebron.. real truth.
Ray Allen did not like anyone and had no friends on teams. Ray Allen was a free agent in 2014 and could have signed with anyone, including teams without Lebron. But after a year with the lowest PER and minutes in his career, at age 39, and probably being offered minimum salaries, Allen chose not to sign anywhere. He could have re-signed with Miami and avoided Lebron to boot, because Lebron left for Cleveland that same offseason. He did not. He was playing for near-minimum for Miami, probably was offered even less to go on.
Lebron had nothing to do with it. Facts trumping so-called truths.
Powell, and Anunoby or Wright for Beal. Maybe all three if Wiz can throw in another role player. Beal can help Toronto next year because Leonard is not returning.
