5:25pm: The signing is now official, the Cavs announced in a press release.
4:33pm: After releasing Patrick McCaw earlier in the day, the Cavaliers will sign point guard Cameron Payne to a 10-day contract, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic (via Twitter).
Payne was most recently with the Bulls, as he was traded to Chicago during the 2016/17 season. Unfortunately, Payne struggled with injuries, as he only appeared in 67 games for the Bulls since that 2017 trade. For his career, Payne has averaged 5.8 points and 2.5 assists per game, while shooting 32.9% from beyond the arc.
This appears to be another tryout for Payne to latch on to an NBA roster, but he will likely be behind both Collin Sexton and Matthew Dellavedova in the rotation.
My god what are they thinking
I know what they are doing. They’re trying to get Zion like the Bulls should be doing.
Don’t forget last time LeBron left, the Cavs finished with the worst record in the NBA. Nice guy. Bill Simmons said if the Cavs win the lottery again, he’s giving up sports. Told you the Cavs were only signing McCaw so he could become an unrestricted free agent. Writers aren’t always wrong unless your name is x%sure.
So say why, if you have an understanding. Who wants McCaw to be a UFA? Mccaw or the Cavs?
Intelligent minds will say if the Cavs didn’t help him out, the Warriors weren’t going to. There are teams contacting him now.
That is not wrong but generosity was not the motivation. The Cavs gave him a 3game audition then bailed when he showed nothing.
The only question is, did Mccaw blow it on purpose.
See Amico Hoops. Other teams are calling about McCaw. Cavs don’t need any more point guards unless they intend to trade Sexton or Clarkson. The Warriors had no intention of adding McCaw to their roster. Most teams were at the cap so all they could offer was the minimum and they were afraid of the Warriors matching it.
Not true. The last time James left the Cavs were 2nd to last. Minnesota was worse.
Cavs picked #1 in the draft b/c they made a trade to the Clippers for that pick and ended up with Irving.
That was a great trade, getting the Irving pick, and having Baron Davis for a year was hardly a punishment. A couple more years would have been great, given Irving’s injuries.
I think Bill Simmons is pulling your leg bro. Why even include that in your comment ??
Cavs worst record in the NBA. LeBron injured, having problems fitting with young guys. Lakers almost out of playoffs. Pacers win 13 of last 16 games. Colts start season 1-5. Win 10 of next 11, still in playoffs. I like it, I love it, I want some more of it.
Players and media saying LeBron disrespectful to those before him for saying he’s the GOAT. Agreed!!!
Who cares!!!
Right? Homie is just out here saying random stuff lol
