Marquese Chriss‘ camp has spoken with the Rockets about the big man’s desire to see more playing time. If the team can’t find more minutes for Chriss, the preference would be a trade, Chriss’ agent Aaron Goodwin tells Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.
“Marquese didn’t ask to be traded to Houston,” Goodwin tells Haynes. “The Rockets are a great organization and the kid has done everything they’ve asked of him to get on the floor. If it’s not going to happen there, we just want him to be treated fairly.”
The former No. 8 overall pick came to the Rockets in the Ryan Anderson deal along with Brandon Knight. Houston declined to pick up Chriss’ fourth-year option and he’ll become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
“I would hate to see a career derailed because teams feel he cannot play at the level he did before the trade,” Goodwin said.
Chriss seemed like a candidate to see more playing time with Clint Capela sidelined, though the team brought in Kenneth Faried and placed another frontcourt player ahead of Chriss on the depth chart. Nene and Isaiah Hartenstein, who was the team’s 2018 second-round pick, have seen more action than Chriss this season.
Chriss is easy. There are plenty of teams with TPE’s that can absorb him. Just tell his agents to find a trade to one of those teams and the Rockets won’t ask for anything back.
But what’s he good for? He basically a Jabari Parker that can’t score …
So what’s that make him? Absolutely nothing.
Dudes really like 6’6 just has a long neck so he lists at 6’10 and has looked lost in the nba. I’d guess he’s got 3 years tops as a non rotation piece and then he’s done
He measured 6’8.75″ barefoot in the draft, could’ve grown some. I’m liking players speaking out for playing time. These fringe guys could actually get some minutes on a tanking team and showcase their potential. Teams not playing them does derail their career.
These guys are better off learning in practice.
There’s literally zero teams, even tankers, that couldn’t find someone better already on their roster.
he’s an unrestricted free agent next year, who’s gonna sign him if no one has seen him play. For better or worse, he’s asking for a chance to bet on himself. I don’t see anything wrong with that.
Aaron Goodwin taking a page out of Mike George’s (Thon Maker’s agent) playbook, huh?
There you go. Trade him for thon maker
But that doesn’t help either player. All it does it put both in the same position of too little PT on new teams.
Dude got passed on the depth chart by Isaiah Frankenstein. Euro leagues in your future, bud.
Ya I must have missed the part where he was effective for the suns before the trade lol
Maybe a replacement for Vonleh in NY or something since they love former lotto busts
I did miss that part. Cause it never happened
If there’s anything that will derail his career, it’s getting a reputation as a diva and a cancer. That’s especially true for marginal players, who don’t get the leeway that stars do
It’s cute that Chriss feels he can give an ultimatum- can the Rockets give him one in reply, like ‘play better?’
Sheesh, what an idiot. He will be a free agent in a couple months anyways. The Rockets have actually given Chriss a chance. He has not taken the opportunities and played well at all. Instead he has played very very badly. He even lost playing time last year on a really bad Suns team that had invested a top draft pick to get him. Plain and simple, he sucks.
From a Suns fan point, I like Chriss at the draft. At the time it was a good trade even tho I liked Bogdanovic and they drafted Bender. The problem with Chriss is that he’s still a kid, apart from age, he’s still immature. He was a headache for the Suns training staff. There’s a reason he was moved instead of Bender.
What’s Chriss’s upside category tho?
I don’t see it.. too small to fight in the paint, can’t shoot, not fast, unaware, not much of a defender…
Idk why anyone would use him as anything more than an 11th or 12th man as hes been used on the Rockets.
He might as well stay on a good team and enjoy the front row seats
He requests more PT or trade when the Rockets had been planning on trading him along with B.Knight all season. Lol
