The Lakers and Pelicans will have more discussions regarding Anthony Davis before Thursday’s trade deadline, according to Tania Ganguli and Broderick Turner of The Los Angeles Times.
Updating the progress of negotiations, the Times writers state that the Lakers submitted five offers to New Orleans on Wednesday, but Pelicans officials have yet to hold internal discussions on them. Multiple sources told the Times that one of the offers would send Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram, Ivica Zubac and a first-round pick to the Pelicans.
New Orleans is reportedly mulling over a counter-offer that would seek a pair of first-round picks and would send a Pelicans player to the Lakers. Besides Davis and Jrue Holiday, whom New Orleans intends to keep, the only significant contracts for next season belong to Solomon Hill ($12,758,781) and E’Twaun Moore ($8,664,928). Julius Randle has a player option worth a little more than $9MM.
Davis remains the focus of the Lakers’ trade efforts, but L.A. is also seeking shooters, presumably to replenish the team if it trades four players for Davis. Ganguli reported earlier tonight that the Lakers called the Pistons about Reggie Bullock, who is shooting 38.3% from downtown and ranks 14th in the league with 2.4 3-pointers per game.
Cool story bro.
I literally just created an account to like your comment and thank you for the laugh. Stay frosty
Get a room
Big smile
Need to get this trade done with. It’s only going to mess with the team and make things awkward until this is all done. If the Lakers end up giving up a bunch of players for AD I bet they sign Melo and probably trade a pick for Bullock. If Jordan gets bought out or Kanter gets bought out I see them signing one of them also.
Yeah and if Michael Jordan comes out of retirement, Kevin Durant gets bought out and Magic Johnson makes a comeback I see them signing all three of them too.
At least thronson’s comment was actually something that could happen…
Jeff Zanghi..do you follow basketball or just like to troll? I’m not being unrealistic at all.
Kanter could never be on the same team as LeBron. It could get ugly.
Like lance Stephenson is on the Lakers. LeBron don’t care if he wins
Kanter seems much more stubborn about it than Lance did, but that’s a good point
I can honestly see all of that happening. They’ll be super active on the buyout market if they get Davis
Yea I think they are going to be looking for players who have been boughtout or waived for sure with all the players they have to give up to get AD. Not saying they all will be great players but just some players to fill roster spots and that can log a few mins a game and hopefully help a little. I really think Melo for sure since he’s already been waived and if Jordan gets bought out I definitely see them going after him. Bullock is already a target and it should cost much to get him.
It is NBA rules to keep your roster filled, so I can’t disagree with all that, but, the point is…? Maybe you’re fed up with g-leaguers and their 10 day contracts.
Trade will never happen. Adam Silver will veto any trade of Davis to Lakers. This is a bad look for the league.
dope
You know what else would be a bad look for the league? An NBA commissioner blocking a SECOND trade between NO and the LAL. First, Chris Paul, now Anthony Davis. That’s a bad look.
Bingo!! Stay in yo lane Adam, you’re doing a great job.
Yep. Way better to let GSW win every single year with no comparable competition
Ball. Kuzma. Ingram. Future 1st rounder
Done deal
Sounds good then the Lakers would have 5 centers. And Beasley and Lance. Hella tall folks.
Pelicans would have to flip Ball again to another team. But other than that, it’s a good deal. KCP would have to be involved for salary purposes.
They won’t HAVE to flip him. He will just have to get over himself and realize he doesn’t have much choice of whether or not he plays there. Either that or he can retire.
That’s right. I don’t see why he wouldn’t want to play there. If anything, Payton will probably head to Lakers with AD, if a deal went down. Either way, Lonzo would be the starter in New Orleans. But it’s all about his brand, I guess.
It’s all about the big market with him. Same with Davis.
I hate that they feel that way, but what I hate more is that they are not really wrong to feel that way. Players make more money through endorsements and future jobs when they work in certain markets. If you are a Celtic or a Knick, you are almost guaranteed an opportunity to work for ESPN after your career. If you are a Trail Blazer or a Timberwolf…not so much. You get far more commercial jobs in LA than you do in Memphis. I hate it, but they aren’t really wrong either.
I don’t even think it all about the big market with him per se .. it’s his “camp” that is saying he doesn’t want to play in NO .. aka his dad lol
And uhhh that media stuff you said is complete trash. Charles Barkley. Kevin Garnett (yes he won with the Celtics but kg was kg for many many years before that). Tracy McGrady. Kenny Smith lol. If you have a certain type of personality that lends itself to being on tv or in the media , you can get a job post nba career on ESPN or wherever else if you want it post-nba career
Yeah I said post career twice whatever
Except KG’s media rating went from regional celeb to media darling once he was traded to Boston. Of course there are some that transcend their market, but just look at ESPN’s roster of athletes (not just basketball) and tell me there aren’t a lot of athletes that played in either Boston or NY.
I think KG was pretty huge before he went to chase a ring in Boston lol .
Anyways your point is dumb and invalid
Coming from you, I’ll take that as a compliment. Have a nice day.
Easier to keep Lonzo
Kuz, Ingram, Zub , 1st
It’s far fetched yes… but keeps Pels from a total bottom out.
Lakers – Randle and Davis
Pels – Kuz, Hart, Zubac, AG, and Barnes, Orlando’s 1st next year and Lakers 1st this year.
Magic – Solomon Hill, E Moore, Lonzo Ball, and Lance Stephenson, Mavs 2nd this year, Lakers 1st in 2021
Mavs – Vooch, Rondo, Beasley
link to espn.com
Not a fan of the Magic’s end of this deal.
If I read correctly they are giving up Gordon and Vucevic, probably their 2 best players, and their 2020 1st round pick and the only real assets they receive are Lonzo and a probable inferior 1st round pick from the Lakers.
Very creative, but no way that works.
Orlando would get Lonzo and Lavar
The Magic aren’t far out or playoff contention. If anything, they would want to be buyers at the deadline and probably would only prefer to ship out Simmons and anyone not named Nikola or Aaron.
Rumor is Isaac and Bamba are most important to magic. They don’t want to resign Vooch and clog. They made Gordon’s deal extremely palatable. They get Ball to distribute for them and create space. Simmons is one they want to keep as well.
Mavs would by our rondo. Beal would be let go. Mavs already have hinted they want Vooch. Trade and release to get him is worth it.
Beasley, not Beal.
Isaac and Bamba might be the most important for Orlando going forward. But that doesn’t mean they are going to give away their current 2 best players for a couple of expiring deals and Lonzo. That would just be franchise crippling.
IDK who clog or AG are, and JonathonSimmons is one they are dangling when other clubs ask for Ross.
Dumping & buying out Rondo is such a waste. Tonight’s game showed why. He should be more appreciated.
There’s an article nearby on Lowe’s take on the Magic. Vucevic is unlikely to be traded or abandoned.
Not happening because NOLA wants Lonzo
Lonzo has asked for another team. He doesn’t want Nola.
Ya LA Lakers
I know you are only stating what has been reported, but who cares what lonzo’s camp wants?
And? It really doesn’t matter what he wants!
Everybody loves & wants Lonzo
So Orlando gets hosed…
And the Mavs would get Rondo.
Who doesn’t get along with Carlisle. Yeah that’s gonna be a hard no for at least two of
those teams.
As a Mavs fan, no we don’t want him, he would be released immediately. Too many guards as is anyway. Hardaway, Lee, Brunson, Harris, Broekoff, Luka. Add Barea who is still on the roster.
Orlando gets cap space and to unclog their 4&5
Cap space for what? Do you really think FAs are lining up to join Isaac and Bamba?
Rondo gets bought out in that scenario because Dallas would never want him to play for them again lol
That’s why they accepted that deal plus Zubac, right?
Should we just trade LeBron?
I’m dead serious.
Send him to NY for a bevy of 1st rnd picks (5? 6?)
and DeAndre Jordan’s expiring deal..
Instead of freaking out over 3 year LeBron window , build up a dynasty with future top picks, including our own.
I think LeBrons the square peg on the Lakers right now.
The pels are going to make them take a bad contract, so more would have to be involved to enable the salaries come close enough to allow a trade.
Yep. AD, the guy who doesn’t want to play for them lol
Lol. Solid reporting
new sources Daily Sheep “AD rather resign w/the pels than play with lbj’s lakers”
I think KCP ( for financial reasons), Ball, Ingram, Kuzma, Zubac and 2 unprotected first round picks to the Pelicans with AD and Randle coming back to the Lakers is a fair deal.
Let me rephrase myself…I’m not sure if it would be fair but I think it would get the deal done. As a Lakers fan I don’t like giving up half the team but i get it and you gotta do what you gotta do to get a player like AD. Can fill out the roster however for the rest of the season and then next year get more players you want to complete the roster in free agency.
It’s weird because all of the sources saying the Pels are engaging in this are from LA. I truly don’t believe NO likes anything they have to offer unless there is a third team involved.
Not when it’s not necessary and you know other teams can get involved in the summer. It’s just the nature of doing business. I just believe too many Lakers fans want it so they think something will happen before the deadline. But there is nothing the Lakers are going to offer now that won’t be available later. And if they pull back on any of it later, it makes it easier for other teams to beat that offer.
“Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram, Ivica Zubac and a first-round pick to the Pelicans.” Lakers are pretty dumb for offering this. Empty their team for one guy? Are Lebron and AD going to play by themselves?
If they don’t they wait until after 2020 season to get him. Pelicans can get a better offer from other teams than waht LA is offering right now.
Trade half your team for injury prone Big! Interesting, So let’s See he’s not playing now. Oh no they’re shutting him down. Wait he said he’ll play out the season ??? Wait his father wants NO to shut him down ? Oh wait No his father doesn’t want him playing in Boston?? Speaking as a Bostonian I must say I am confused. Oh well on too the World Series I mean SUPERBOWL. Wait we won the World Series???
You okay bud?
Which brings me to my next point kids… Don’t smoke crack.
Meth kills, bro
Correction- LeBron and Pelicans resume talks.
You don’t make this trade until the end of the season when all the teams are at the table and you can leverage the best offer.
If Boston doesn’t offer Tatum then the Lakers will make out in a deal in the off-season.
It makes zero sense to trade AD to the Lakers for a bunch of kids who don’t know how to win (with moderate upside) and what will end up being a high 20s draft pick. At least trade him to a team for a good pick that you can control your destiny through the draft. If Houston was offering 4 first rounders for J Butler that should be your floor in a deal.
Those 4 firsts didn’t include young talent such as lonzo, Kuzma, Ingram. And some of those first rounds wouldn’t be worth much.
This deal probably gets done next week if the Lakers actually put Lonzo, Kuzma, Ingram and a first on the table.
Anthony Davis’ camp has said he doesn’t want to go to Boston. Danny Ainge will be hard pressed to give up Tatum or Brown in such a deal. Boston has a few high picks they could dangle.
Marcus Smart does not interest the pelicans or any team if he did a team would of offered him a significant deal this last offseason.
I’d rank the assets between Boston and lakers as this:
Tatum
Lonzo
Brown
Kuzma
Ingram
Boston 1st
Boston 1st
Zubac
Laker 1st
Laker 1st
If Tatum isn’t offered Boston won’t be getting AD
Being that one of those picks is possibly in the top 3 depending on how Memphis finishes, I would rate it higher than some players.
I’d argue All these players would be top 10 pick right now if they were in the draft. Tatum is the only on I’d put ahead of Zion. Lonzo Brown Kuzma Ingram all probably would be 2nd or 3rd overall picks. Zubac probably goes later but definitely could see him top 10 still.
Now do the Knicks still have enough to get AD and sign two max guys??
If the Knicks sent DSJ, Knox, Ntlikina, Jordan(salary matching purposes) and two firsts or three first. I feel like that’s a good package for a rebuilding team. The Knicks could then have KD AD and Kyrie.
Zion Lateef Williamson !!!!! That’s who I am aiming at in this scenario!!! Somehow I am bringing in those bottom end teams. With promises of life after death if they give me their Number One’s draft Picks!
Somehow
Lonzo Ball is
Ingram
Kuzma pretty good
Zubac 1/2
Lakers #1 pick – Meh
Sounds like a great way for Dell Demps to guarantee getting fired!
So the Lakers roster will be LeBron, AD, and a bunch on undrafted players
I guess LeGM realizes he can’t play without another top 5 player to do his bidding and serve as a scapegoat.
Are you talking about Kobe?
Father Time is going to catch up with LeBron before too long (if it hasn’t already). AD going to join him with a depleted roster is a dicey proposition. Sure it beats being in NO, but what if LeBron keeps missing games. LBJ is 34. Jordan retired at age 35 (yes, he came back a few years later with the Wizards). Kobe started missing a ton of games at 35. So did Shaq. The list goes on… AD very well could be negotiating himself to be a one man team in LA for a while. Worse cities to be stuck in, but if he is going to team up with James it could backfire on him.
