Veteran center Andrew Bogut is getting interest from “multiple contenders,” including the Warriors and Sixers, tweets Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Bogut is available now that his season has ended in Australia — he was named both MVP and Defensive Player of the Year in the NBL (National Basketball League).
Bogut isn’t expected to decide on an NBA deal right away, Charania adds. However, the 34-year-old will be playoff-eligible wherever he goes, since he hasn’t been on an NBA roster all season. He has been out of the league since the Lakers waived him in January of 2018.
Bogut was a second-team All-Defensive honoree in 2014/15 when he helped Golden State win the NBA title. The Warriors traded him after the 2016 season in a cap-clearing move to help them sign Kevin Durant.
The NBL must be a pretty weak league.
this guy has a nice skill set
If he was mvp I wanna know what his stats were
Must be a weak league getting mvp by avging only 11 points per game
Sounds like a native-son, what-could-have-been recognition.
The NBL is a good league. The MVP voters just give more weight to things other than points. Bogut led the league in both rebounding (11.4 rpg) and blocked shots (2.7 bpg). He didn’t take a lot of shots, averaging 11.5 ppg but shooting 57% from the field. He also got his team to the league semifinals.
I know my man Mitch Creek is balling. Personally I think the NBL is the 4th best league behind NBA, G-League and Euro-League. They got some good ballplayers down under now. Bogut should get picked up for his D and playoff experience.
Perhaps Jahlil Okafor has found his future, then.
If someone at his age is getting the MVP, then the level of skill is pretty underhelming, especially for the kids in their prime. Unless its one of those leagues where people go to retire with a last check. But they could probably take on the Lakers. And thats coming from a Lakers fan =_=.
I thought he retired years ago. Would be cool to see him win another ring with the Warriors though.
Sixers fan: hard pass.
