11:09am: Porzingis’ accuser told police that Porzingis hit her in the face several times and spit on her during the alleged incident, according to a TMZ report. She says he eventually stopped assaulting her, as she was putting up a fight.
Wojarowski’s report notes that the woman shared a photograph with the Knicks that she said showed hair loss and broken nose cartilage “from when he repeatedly hit me.” The woman said she had to pay approximately $10K for corrective surgery after the encounter.
Per Wojnarowski, the woman wrote the following in an email to the Knicks last October:
“After the extremely aggressive encounter, he was very apologetic, loving and caring … hence, the offer he made to pay my (little) bro’s tuition + more. … Although how he treated me was horrendous, as a Knicks fan, I do not want him to get him in any trouble with the law. I stayed back and enjoyed the rest of the time I spent with him. It’s crucial to note the fun times I had with him doesn’t negate the fact that he offered to compensate me as a soothing gift even though I didn’t ask him to.”
10:13am: The woman who has accused Kristaps Porzingis of rape contacted the Knicks‘ legal department approximately eight months after the alleged incident in an effort to “mediate in private” a payment of $68K, reports ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. She told the team that she would “litigate this matter” if the Knicks failed to properly mediate it.
The communication between Porzingis’ accuser and the Knicks’ legal staff took place in October and November, at which time no criminal complaint had been filed with the NYPD, according to Wojnarowski, who says the club ultimately referred her to Porzingis’ personal legal representation.
The accuser, who described the alleged assault as an “extremely aggressive encounter,” claims that Porzingis subsequently agreed to co-sign a statement with her that promised her a payment of $68K toward her brother’s education. However, Porzingis’ attorney tells ESPN that he believes the document is “a forgery.”
What the accuser describes as a contractual agreement between her and Porzingis is a handwritten letter in which Porzingis’ name is repeatedly misspelled as “Kristap.” The alleged agreement includes two signatures, but Porzingis’ attorney doesn’t believe one of the signatures belongs to his client.
“Mr. Porzingis denies signing the alleged contract, which we believe is a forgery,” attorney Roland G. Riopelle said in a statement to Wojnarowski. “When asked to produce the original contract for handwriting analysis, the complainant declined to do so.”
The National Basketball Players Association has issued a statement saying that it stands with Porzingis as the case plays out in the legal system. As Wojnarowski notes, Mavs head coach Rick Carlisle has also said that KP would be permitted to take take time away from the team if he needs to.
Woj’s report includes many more details on the situation, and is worth checking out in full.
This lady comes off as extremely unstable and this is one of those cases where I have to say I am siding with the accused based on what is out there right now
Same
Same, and I hope that is the case as rapists are all but pond scum. Just can’t fathom someone tearing their ACL and hours later going on a rampage. Seems past painful and highly illogical. Crazier things have happened though.
The only thing that might make sense is that he was angry about the injury and went into a rage, but this evidence doesn’t really add up so far. I’ve had friends tear their ACL and still walk around on it for weeks.
“ESPN obtained a series of text messages between the woman and Porzingis, as well as emails between her and the Knicks. The texts and emails portray a woman who wanted to pursue a romantic relationship with Porzingis in the aftermath of the alleged assault in February 2018, but who also wanted him to honor what she says was his commitment to contribute $68,000 to a college fund for her brother.”
“According to the emails, the woman, who lived in the same apartment building as Porzingis, told the Knicks that she went to Porzingis’ apartment to get his autograph in the late-night hours after Porzingis suffered a serious knee injury at MSG on Feb. 6, 2018.”
i think this is all fake and the women is making stuff up. she first said that porzingas invited her to his apt at 2am. if your being invited over at 2am, you should know that sex is most likly going to happen. plus if she knows who porzingis was, why not ask more than 68k? i think it be also hard to have sex after tearing an ACL. also why now come to police so many months later….
I agree that her story as a whole seems fishy. However just because a woman is invited over at 2am and sex is all but implied she can still say no. I’m by no means saying that’s what happened I just mean in general. To be honest this sounds like a girl who just wants money or was hurt Porzingis didn’t want more.
Uh, going over to someone’s house at 2 am does not mean that someone can rape you. I’m not saying Porzingas did anything here because I have no idea, but what you wrote is an absurd rape apology. ‘You should know that sex is going to happen’, like it’s an inevitability and you’re not allowed to change your mind. Disgusting.
Further, her accusation is that HE offered her the money, not that she asked for it. And $68,000 was chosen because it was her brother’s tuition.
And even further, it doesn’t matter when she’s going to the police. She could have went the next day and it wouldn’t have made a huge difference. The backlog of rape cases is ten miles long, plus you have people like yourself who are automatically going to not believe her.
She’s just all over with her story. If he really hit her that brutally that it led to $10K in medical bills that should be rest easy to prove right? Also when Porzingis’s attorney asked for the original contract he supposedly signed she couldn’t come up with it. Why is that? If you were really raped wouldn’t you keep that? Also when you say I forgave him because I’m a “huge Knicks fan” doesn’t that look bad? If he really brutalized you that bad you don’t forgive it because you “like the team he’s on”. When she says she “sat back and enjoyed the rest of her time with him” what does that even mean? You said you were brutalized but then stayed and had a good time with him? It’s also fishy that rather than file a police report she goes to the Knicks first and says basically let’s settle this with money. If it quacks like a duck..
In today’s environment hold on for a wild ride.

No thanks. But thanks for the offer.
Nice to hear from you again, Hillary.
Hilarious
How does someone rape another human being on the same night the rapist tears an acl? Seems unlikely to me. Let alone why does the lady who said she was raped stayed at his place until 11am and forgiven him because she’s a Knick fan and wants $69k for her brother.
Yeah, seems legit. /rolleyes
My reaction to this update: What in the?
I feel like you need a lawyer present prior to any activities with a woman if you’re an athlete to go over the terms of the agreement. Signed in blood. With back-up video recording of the agreement. In front of a judge. And a courtroom sketch artist to capture the true emotions of the moment.
You need all those things if you’re a dude in general…one of my main paranoia since I was a kid is being accused of anything. That’s why I literally dont make a move at all until I’m literally told to, and the words have to be extremely specific, or it’s not safe enough. “Do it” Isnt good enough for me lol…
The woman says she’s a Knicks fan, and that affected her choices… but that ‘protection’ is off the table after his trade! If that matters now.
There’s probably a reason why Zinger did not budget a piddling $68k of hush money for this person, and reasons are coming out. Probably a successful prosecution is impossible and she’s just working a threat to his reputation. But the more complicated this gets the more likely she’s out of her lane, and she may not have much help.
(Actual guilt, no idea.)
