The Knicks have an in-person visit scheduled with Cam Reddish, Ian Begley of the SNY.tv reports. It was previously reported that some of the team’s evaluators are fond of the Duke product.
The franchise holds the No. 3 overall pick and many expect Reddish’s college teammate R.J. Barrett to hear his name called in that spot. Here’s more from New York:
- Jarrett Culver (Texas Tech) will work out for the Knicks on June 5, per Ian Begley of SNY.tv (Twitter link). Some within the team’s front office are high on the projected top-10 pick.
- Mike Vorkunov of The Athletic explores a scenario where the Knicks deal the No. 3 overall pick to the Wizards in a deal for Bradley Beal. Acquiring Beal before free agency begins would make the Knicks a more attractive destination for available free agents like Kevin Durant. The scribe proposes a package that includes the No.3 pick, one of the Mavericks’ selections, Frank Ntilikina, and Damyean Dotson.
- In the same piece, Vorkunov examines whether the Knicks should trade back in the draft, mentioning the Hawks as a logical partner. Atlanta has the No. 8 and No. 10 overall picks in the upcoming draft.
‘Have,’ not “has.”
Go on
I purposed that same kind of deal but with the Lakers for Lonzo, their #4 and maybe a little more.
That could be a nice start to an inevitable reboot for the Wiz. They have the the 9th overall. Coupled with the 3rd or 4th would be nice. I wonder if they would prefer Coby White or Darius Garland over Lonzo tho?
It may have happened if you ‘proposed’ it.
You got me. Touche’
Only prob with that is they still have john wall and wobt be able to trade him for a while. Maybe ingram and kuzma with the picks could be suitable. Unless they use lonzo for a trade piece.
Hey…Wall’s a problem they’re stuck with until he returns and can show people he’s healthy and can be productive. Even then, it would be difficult. I think he’s set to earn $40 mil per real soon.

Beal for #3 + 15-20 mm in cap space + more ? Here’s the scenario: None. It would be easy to dismiss this nonsense if anyone but Steve Mills were in charge.
I don’t think you get Beal without one of Knox or Robinson going to Washington with the 3. Ntikilina could probably go too. It might be an outstanding situation for him with Wall probably out next year.
I could see it as
Wizards get
#3, one of the Mavs picks, Kevin Knox, Frank Ntikilina, Lance Thomas (for salary reasons)
Knicks get
Bradley Beal
It seems like a lot for Beal, but he was on the cusp of an All NBA team. Plus, Ntikilina and Thomas has little value and the Dallas pick is probably not going to be that great, especially if they send the later pick of the two they have. By 2023, the Mavs will probably be a 50+ win team.
Okay, but WAS doesn’t even have a GM yet! And it may concede a Davis trade… maybe just as well… Griffin will drag that out.
I don’t think you know Griffin very well. He ways his options and is then decisive. He understands that if AD and Paul made it clear that he has no intentions on staying then he will move him. However, it does give him a bit of leverage if his trade suitors don’t think he HAS to trade him now. He has at least 3 teams in the bidding.
I meant his best option is July rather than June… “drag it out” is more of a personal reaction I suppose. But one that will be shared throughout June & July by most everyone I expect! He can disrupt other teams by not moving on Davis through the early-July FA negotiations. Whoever is still holding out for Davis will become more desperate.
I wouldn’t suggest the Knicks trading for Beal. Good player but not a difference maker by himself. Would rather the Knicks keep their pick if they can’t acquire Knox. What’s the point? Beal can walk in 2 years. The Lakers make the most sense since they have a small window to compete with LBJ.
I meant if they fail to acquire AD, not Knox.
Beal isn’t worth all that. Pass as a Knicks fan.
I don’t like the idea of buying high on Beal. Go after KD, Kemba and draft Barrett. I hope they don’t over complicate this. That is how we usually outfox ourselves. Keep it simple.
Vorkunov is an idiot to think any of what he threw out there makes sense for the Knicks.
A) why would they deal for Beal ‘before they sign 2 max FAs. And why would they give that up for Beal when one other asset could potentially land Davis.
B) why would they trade backwards for two ‘meh’ players (Atlanta’s picks) vs a top three talent? They have enough ‘meh’ on the roster.
A – Because max free agents won’t sign there to play without anyone there.
B – Top 10 players are not usually “meh” players. I know this is a weak draft, but two top 10 picks give you pretty good odds of getting at least one good player. Even for the Knicks.
When you can get a sure pick in the top three? Then why do the deal and take the risk.
As for FAs, a trade would occur ‘after’ the FAs sign, not before if you want to sign two as opposed to one. If Durant does sign, Irving follows and the Knicks offer everything else they have for Davis.
There is no such thing as a “sure” pick in the top 3. They are all just prospects. I wouldn’t trade 3 for 15 and 18, but for 8 and 10, I’d have to do it. I still might not do it, but NY is not one prospect away from being a complete team. For a team like the Hawks that already has a decent core, the deal makes sense because one specific guy could push you into a playoff spot. For a team like the Knicks or the Cavs, you just need volume.
Getting Durant, Irving, and Davis is a best case scenario that will likely never happen. They are not playing in Ice Cube’s league, you need more than 3 players to win in the NBA.
So RJ + trash?
I wonder why people are so down on Knox? He’s only 20 and had an ok slash last year. 37/34/72 for a guy who played in the NBA at age 19 on a sucky team with no decent PG isn’t horrible for a kid with his limited experience. He’s not enough to headline a deal but not a bad piece to get.
