JUNE 30, 12:33am: The Jazz are emerging as a significant threat to sign Bogdanovic, according to Tony Jones and Shams Charania of The Athletic (Twitter link). Sources tell the Athletic duo that Utah could have a competitive offer on the table for the free agent forward as soon as Sunday night.
JUNE 29, 8:08pm: The Jazz have “significant interest” in Pacers forward Bojan Bogdanovic, sources tell Tony Jones of The Athletic (Twitter link).
Bogdanovic is among the best shooters on the free agent market and would give Utah a significant threat on the perimeter. He shot a career-high .425 from 3-point range this year while averaging 18.0 points per game. He is also extremely durable, playing 80 and 81 games in his two seasons with Indiana.
With most of their rotation headed for free agency, the Pacers have hard decisions to make on who to keep, which could make Bogdanovic an easier target for someone else. Indiana’s situation was complicated by Friday’s unexpected retirement of starting point guard Darren Collison.
They love a good white ball player
When asked to comment, Bojan Bogdanovic said,
“Vat de heck is dis JAZZ?”
Weak… especially since jazz has been played in Bogdanovic’s native Croatia since the 1920s and is still very popular there.
This would be huge for the Jazz. I could see them stepping up even more next year. Jazz are contenders if they get this guy. They have a lot of the areas covered point guard shooting, big men. This could mean that favors is let go but he was just a big guy off the bench mostly.
They need help at the 4, so it’s a fit
They need a 4 not another 3. Bojan 6-8, 216, 5 rebs per 36′, don’t even ask about blocks. They list Ingles at the 4 but he gets even fewer rebounds. Both should start somewhere in the league at the 3. Crowder, ONeale also 3s. HR has reported Favors, Sefalosha, Udoh on the way out. This leaves at 4/5: Gobert and Georges Niang!
Plus the guards are small, 6-0 & 6-3.
Even if they keep Favors they need a Portis even in the WC.
Crowder isn’t on the team anymore
Talk about small!
If I’m the Jazz I’d look at a guy like Marcus Morris. Affordable 4 who can shoot and defend at a high level
But who can’t rebound.
And who might but be that affordable.
The San Antonio Spurs are looking at him too …
Bog should stay in Indiana if the $ is close.
Jazz need a guy like Faried on the cheap
