The Kings are interested in Patrick Beverley, a source tells Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee. Beverley would help take the pressure off of De’Aaron Fox, serving as the point guard’s backup.
Beverley is reportedly seeking a deal in the three-year, $40MM range. The Kings should have no problem accommodating that type of contract, as the team has just under $53MM in guaranteed salaries on the books for next season.
The Mavericks, Bulls, Clippers, and Lakers are all also expected to have interested in Beverley. Most of those teams seem to have some sort of connection between them and the point guard. Beverley is from Chicago. He shares an agent with Mavs star Luka Doncic and he played in Los Angeles this past season.
Beverley made slightly more than $5MM last season and will almost certainly see a raise on his annual salary next season.
Lakers fans who want this guy over Ice in my Veins, should cheer for the Clippers..
Max deal DLo or bust.. as long as Nets are dumb enough to cut bait
Beverley is good enough to be starting somewhere. At the very least, he should be backing up a less entrenched starter than Fox. I know is not an All Star yet or anything, but he established himself as a solid starter last year. Sacramento is not likely to bench him unless he just falls off a cliff. Beverley should be looking to go to a place with a young PG that has not yet established himself at the NBA level. Maybe Chicago or Memphis. Or if he is not looking to be part of a rebuilding club, why not Orlando or San Antonio? There are plenty of better opportunities for him.
The interest has to be mutual. I don’t think San Antonio would meet his asking price
Beverly backing up Fox would be insane. Opposing PG’s in the league would just dread not getting a break, whether it was chasing Fox or being chased by Beverly.
King’s got the cap space. Why not? They got the space. He’s a defensive force. Guard driven league. They need vet leadership. Bev seems like he’d put something like minutes played behind winning especially if he’s getting paid a respectable contract. Him and Adams/Capela/Jordan and you got yourself a solid squad
I Love how the Lakers are tied to anyone that can dribble a basketball and a couple who can just in bound it.
Lakers are a joke and they will find a way to mess up the AD/LBJ combination. They will nring in Kyrie or Butler and then they will have those 3 with no bench and struggle to make the playoffs and have no D.
Star power beats depth any day of the week & twice on Sundays!
BTW AD is a top defender, last 2-3 years could have been the DPOY, so who knows what you talking about?
Also if they get Butler, he is the top defender at the wing position!
Is that you, Rob?
Lebron ain’t too shabby defensively either
Kings should go after Tobias. Someone would be smart to take their starting sf spot. Fox heild Harris bagley Giles would be a playoff team
Would love him in SA, but with a lack of cap space, along with a returning Murray and White in tow, I don’t think it’s a fit there.
Love to see him, Butler and Thad Young all land with the Knicks, bringing back a little of that ‘90’s swagger and defensive intensity.
Typical Lakers fan comment. Star Power beats Depth only one on one.
How’d that Labron star power work out this year?
Clippers have depth and made the playoffs.
Lakers had “Starpower” and made the lottery.
One star plus they fail off once LeBron got hurt and couldn’t recover fast enough
LBJ would love to have Beverley as a teammate. But I’m surprised the 76ers are not pursuing him. Beverley could be a game changer for them. That’s what the Sixers lack, grit and toughness.
