The Warriors got some good news on the injury front Monday as an MRI confirmed that star shooting guard Klay Thompson has a mild hamstring strain, Shams Charania of The Athletic tweets. Thompson will test out the injury over the next two days and likely be listed as questionable for Game 3 of The Finals on Wednesday night, Charania adds.
Thompson, who will be an unrestricted free agent after the season, suffered the injury during the fourth quarter of Game 2 on Sunday. His legs split apart while he attempted a 3-point shot. Toronto’s Danny Green contested the shot but no foul was called.
If he can’t play, the Warriors will likely lean on Shaun Livingston and Quinn Cook to assist Stephen Curry in the backcourt.
Golden State got some bad news Monday when forward Kevon Looney was diagnosed with a fractured collarbone. The Warriors still don’t know when superstar Kevin Durant will be able to return from his calf injury suffered during the conference semifinals. The prospect of playing without Durant and Thompson would be daunting as the series shifts to the West Coast and Oracle Arena.
If the warriors win under these circumstances… they really are all time great.
As long as Steph and Draymond are healthy the Warriors will win.
kd has a calf strain
Thank you for fixing your careless mistake
I will agree that if the Warriors win while Klay misses time and KD does not make it back, they are the best team of all time.
That said, they are a six minute Raptor slump away from being down 2-0. Even if Klay plays, he’ll likely be hobbled like Kawhi. Of course Klay does not rely on dribble penetration and explosiveness like Leonard, but if the tweak affects his rhythm at all, I don’t see a scenario where the Warriors pull this one out.
i agree with everything you said. im a warriors fan and i find it a little crazy they are currently 6 point favorites. i crushed the last game betting the warriors pre game and then during the game the entire time getting them at +300 at one point when they were down 12. that being said, the raptors +210 for game 3 is a great bet. or just taking them to cover. blanketing curry with lowry and vanfleet was working. i really dont think klay, cousins and iggy playing at 80% will be enough to beat toronto. they are almost better off just punting game 3 and letting iggy and klay get some rest because if klay hurts his hammy anymore and durant doesnt come back then toronto wins in 5
i should clarify punting because its not recommended to punt any playoff games but i mean they should give guys like jordan bell, quinn cook and jonas jerebko or mckinnie big starters minutes with curry, green and cousins and then just let iggy and klay rest and use livingston sparingly
Yes Klay may not be able to hit those beautiful moving 3pt shots from the sideline with a hamstring.
