The NBA has officially announced that 98 early entrant prospects will be eligible to be selected in the 2019 NBA draft next Thursday. Of those early entrants, 86 are collegiate players, while the remaining 12 are international prospects.
Although the number of early entrants is much higher than the number of picks in the draft (60), the list of early entrants is still significantly smaller than it was at the initial entry deadline in April. At that point, 236 early entrants had declared for the draft. After testing the waters, 138 of those players have withdrawn.
Here’s the complete list of early entrant prospects eligible for the 2019 NBA draft:

The NBA’s final list of early entrants doesn’t include North Carolina State junior forward Sacha Killeya-Jones or TCU sophomore forward Kouat Noi. Because those players pulled out of the draft between the NCAA’s withdrawal deadline (May 29) and the NBA’s deadline (June 10), they won’t be draft-eligible yet, but also won’t be able to continue their college careers. They can begin their professional careers in the G League or in an international league.
For details on which prospects originally declared for the draft, then withdrew their names, be sure to check out our previous unofficial early entrant list.
I read Zion Williams May want to go back to North Carolina to try to win a title.
I stop believing you at “I read.”
Rude
What is the benefit for the two players pulling out of the draft but not continuing their college careers? If they don’t get drafted, they could still start their careers in the G League or overseas. Wouldn’t it be smarter to stay in the draft and have a chance at getting picked in the late second?
They aren’t allowed to continue their college careers. It states that pretty clearly. They’ll have to play ball overseas.
They retain draft eligibility by playing overseas, I should also mention, as it’s the more important part.
I don’t really know what the thinking is there, to be honest. There are a couple players who do it every year, but I’m not sure if there are any advantages to it (I can’t think of any off-hand), or if they just missed the NCAA’s deadline.
Only bout half these guys will be drafted…less than that likely.
There’s 86 college players. Plus 12 overseas prospects. There’s 60 slots. Do these “collegians” not understand basic math? Oh, forgot, they’re not required to attend class…..
Not to mention the seniors who graduated who don’t have to “declare”
True, but most of those 86 believe they are not one of the ones that will be left out. The biggest problem here is not really the players. The biggest problem is the people giving the players bad advice. But those people aren’t really worried about the best interest of the player. They just want their cut and they don’t care if it is just a cut of a contract from the Phillipines or Laos or Liechtenstein. They just want to ride the money train.
