The Warriors have made forward Jordan Bell a restricted free agent by extending him a qualifying offer, Shams Charania of The Athletic tweets.
Bell’s qualifying offer is $1,818,486. Bell had a generally disappointing regular season. He appeared in 68 games, averaging 3.3 PPG and 2.7 RPG in 11.3 MPG.
When injuries struck in the playoffs, Bell saw action in 15 games. The 6’9” Oregon product was a 2017 second-round pick.
He had an embarrassing incident in late March in which he put authorized charges to assistant coach Mike Brown‘s hotel room, leading to a one-game suspension. But the Warriors see enough potential in Bell to at least make it more challenging for another team to sign him.
This guy has been generally disappointing as an NBA player. He was great at Oregon, and I was excited the Warriors had a chance to pick him up.
But then he turned out to be an under sized, under skilled, yet very athletic “big” man.
He ‘turned out’ to be undersized? Did he shrink after college?
Guys are bigger in the NBA than they are in college. Jordan Bell didn’t shrink, the other guys got bigger.
You mean when he actually developed a jump shot this year? He’s only “disappointing” b/c they didn’t play him due to Mike Brown holding a stupid grudge and then in the playoffs he provided much needed energy (and athleticism) off the bench. If they actually let him play next year he could take a huge step forward (no Klay or KD no matter if they sign).
Yes when they really needed him to step up that one game he actually played very well.
I’m not sure why Mike Braun would have a grudge against the player? If you’re talking about the hotel billing thing that was punished and they moved on as grown men, right? Over.
Kerr’s the coach and handle substitutions anyway and if he thought Mike Brown had a grudge against the player Mike brown wouldn’t last long on the Warriors.
Now Gary you know darn good and we’ll that grown men often act like children.
I don’t know many who do, and they don’t hold million dollar jobs, and they don’t last long as NBA players.
Mistakes happen then you move on and it’s done.
He looks so small, hanging around in the paint. McGee was better at energy. I wonder if they can bird-right David West.
He earned some high pressure playoff experience that should help improve his confidence level. Work on a low to midrange jumper and learn to use your frame to impose your will. But really, this guy either learns how to score in the Box or he’s gone. There will always be another capable athlete ready to replace your subpar performances.
And that’s one of the questions about Bell… normally a guy would work on that, but we’re not sure if Bell will put in the time.
