A hectic offseason has shifted some major balance in the NBA across both conferences, with stars such as Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, Anthony Davis, Kyrie Irving, Paul George and others switching teams to create a surprising new-look league this summer.
There appears to be no clear front-runner for the first time in recent memory, though a common theme rapidly spread across teams as the offseason progressed: multiple franchises loaded up in pursuit of a championship, each led by two major star players.
In no particular order, some of the NBA’s top duos now include Leonard/George (Clippers), Durant/Irving (Nets), Davis/LeBron James (Lakers) and James Harden/Russell Westbrook (Rockets).
Among the returning top duos are Stephen Curry/Klay Thompson (Warriors), Giannis Antetokounmpo/Khris Middleton (Bucks), Ben Simmons/Joel Embiid (Sixers), Damian Lillard/CJ McCollum (Blazers) and Jamal Murray/Nikola Jokic (Nuggets).
With several competitive teams now sporting star-studded duos, which team do you believe has the best faction entering the 2019/20 season? Is it one of the pairs listed above, or perhaps another pair that hasn’t been discussed yet? Take to the comments section below to voice your opinion!
Best Duo is clearly Simmons-Embiid and Harris-Horford.
Terry Rozier and Cody Zeller…by a mile.
It really must suck to be a Hornet fan.
I love hornet this years. Coming from bulls fan.
Jeremy Lin and Carmelo Anthony.
Tacko and Anus Kanter
Pop/Duncan
LBJ/AD by a country mile!
Harden/Westbrook should be the next one… if they can play together well.
Vuce and Fournier by a mile.
Closely followed by Gallo and Adams.
OKC literally went from a top 8 team in the league to a bottom 8 in 2 weeks. Granted they did get lots of picks and stuff but what does it say about your back room staff if you finally get another star to pair well with your team and get you excited then it all blows up. Apparently PG wanted out and then Russ wanted out and now they want to go young. But for Russ and PG to leave something must be going on behind the scenes and because it all happened so quickly and surprisingly no one really took notice of it.
It’s Curry and Russell. First guy is the BPOAT and the other one’s like the best new guy. Those guys (with Green, and Cauley-Stein) are the new Warriors and they’re taking their game to the WCF.
Agreed. People seem to forget just how good Steph Curry is. He’ll average 35 this year. Draymond is a top 5 defender and Klay, back around the all-star break, is still a top 5 two-way player. DLo, at 23, averaged 21 and 7 as the best player on a playoff team. With Kerr he’s only going to get better. Throw in what most people agree is the summers best signing, Kevon Looney for $5mm/yr and it’s looking like the west will go through the Bay again.
Has to be Leonard and George followed by LBJ & Davis
Meyers is good, but he doesn’t play with George, he plays with Dragic
2 times hit
Houstons 2 MVP’s
Curious to see Luka & KP
The Dallas Mavericks Duo of Luka Dončić & Kristaps Porziņģis is being seriously underrated on this list and should be at the top of this list at the end od this season.
When was the last time KP even played a game? He’s going to have to remind everyone what he can do.
February 6th 2018 when he averaged 22 pts, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.5 Blocks per game for a Dumpster Fire New York Knicks Teem ……and he is still 23….
