The Bulls and Grizzlies have discussed a sign-and-trade for Justin Holiday that would send former top-10 pick Kris Dunn to Memphis, K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune hears.
Holiday played for the Bulls last season before the team dealt him to the Grizzlies. Memphis made the December trade hoping to remain in the playoff hunt, surrendering two second-round picks to Chicago as well as Wayne Selden and MarShon Brooks (the wrong Brooks from the failed three-team trade with the Suns).
Chicago has made Dunn available in trade talks after drafting Coby White and acquiring Tomas Satoransky. Three of the team’s offseason goals were to add depth in the frontcourt, bring in point guard competition, and add outside shooting. The first two can be checked off the list.
Shooting on the wing remains on the Bulls’ wish list, Johnson adds. Holiday is a career 34.9% shooter from behind the arc.
So the Bulls traded for Justin in 2016 and then flipped him in the same year, then signed him back in 2017, then traded him to Memphis this year, and now wanna sign and trade him back for Kris Dunn? My 2016 self is confused but my 2019 self gets it
Sounds par for the course for GarPax!
Bulls Front Office circus continues.
u cant ask more from garpax…they are trying to be the best clown in nba, they need to beat knick fo….
Or try Dunn off ball or keep as depth.
If the Sixers didn’t have Neto n Shake, I’d still b in favor of a trade for Dunn.
Dunn + Felicio for Mahinmi
I agreed with you, up until the Mahinmi trade…I more or less get what you’re trying to do getting rid of Felicio, by taking on Mahinmi…However, I really want to see the Bulls develop Gafford, and think he can be a very solid backup 5 to Carter Jr….
Personally, Idk why the Bulls just don’t keep Dunn, and use him as a combo guard helping lead their 2nd unit with White. Dunn could take on the tougher guard defensively, and it wouldn’t force White to make all the decisions offensively as he develops and gets his feet wet.
They’ll have Sato, LaVine, Porter, Markannen, and Carter Jr. starting. Then, for their bench unit, they can have White, Dunn, Hutchison/Valentine, Thad Young, and Kornet/Gafford depending on match-ups as their 2nd unit/primary bench rotation…
Dunn needs to be developed further as a combo guard, and allow him to play to his strengths. He isn’t quite as consistent offensively as Marcus Smart, but he has all the same ability to be just as effective. Dunn’s man and perimeter defense is excellent, and he’s capable of getting his points either from driving or occasionally from 3.
Dunn’s biggest issues come to light when he gets too caught up in feeling like he HAS TO BE a distributor on offense. When he’s aggressive, decisive, and playing freely on and off the ball, Dunn is a legit offensive option and a defensive force!! Move him to the 2nd unit, and let Dunn further develop into a solid comvo guard.
They aren’t going to get anything better than Dunn in a trade, he still has untapped potential, and he already has an excellent skill as a lock down defender. I’d easily tale him over Justin “let me chuck up as many threes a game as I can” Holiday…NO THANK YOU!!
Bulls Front Office, you’ve actually made some REALLY SMART decisions this off-season…I beg and plead with you, DON’T BE MORONS, and screw it all up just giving Dunn away!!!
I would do a Dunn and Felicio for Mahimi trade. Mahinmi is on an expiring deal so by the end of the year you’ll get his 16 mil off the books to use. The Wizards get a piece for their rebuild in Dunn. As a matter of fact Dunn could sneakily be there starter next to Beal because Ish Smith isn’t exactly a start and Isiah Thomas is a mystery. At least with Dun would get someone young and who can play defense
dunn still better player than justin holiday…garpax suck….they could trade him for josh jackson
Funny that I mentioned Dallas as a spot for Kris Dunn, they get Delon Wright, and Memphis wants to replace him with Kris Dunn. Makes sense b/c hes cheaper, and has similar strengths
No. Justin Holiday is straight up trash.
I feel a bit bad for Dunn. If he could stay healthy, land in a spot where he has every shot to prove he can do it, I think he would turn into an excellent pro.
