The Grizzlies have waived guard Avery Bradley, according to the NBA’s Transactions Log. Bradley had just a $2MM guarantee on his $12.96MM salary for next season if was was let go before July 8, according to Basketball Insiders. The guarantee date was originally July 3, but Bradley agreed to move it last week.
Unloading Bradley’s contract provides more flexibility for Memphis to match a potential offer sheet for restricted free agent guard Delon Wright. The Grizzlies have about $123MM on their books, including Wright’s $7.6MM cap hold, tweets ESPN’s Bobby Marks.
Once considered one of the NBA’s top perimeter defenders as well as a potent scorer, Bradley’s game has slipped since the Celtics traded him to the Pistons in 2017. However, he looked like his old self during his brief stay in Memphis, averaging 16.1 PPG in 14 games. Still only 28, Bradley should garner interest from several contending teams on the open market.
Rockets will be all over Bradley, including others
Rockets will be all over him for sure but as a Sixers fan, I want Bradley bad. He would be a perfect fit!! Make it happen Elton
GSW could throw him an offer, he would get the most minutes where and be joining a team what knows how to win. I’d Love to Philly to throw him an offer. He would be a really good 6th man for us if he can get back to hitting 3s and playing good defence.
This isn’t a buyout. I think he’ll be looking for more than minimum, and maybe multiple years or player option. Better spots than Rockets or GS, for $$, PT and winning.
I would have to think Lakers? not sure what they can offer him but a 3pt shooting playmaker who plays good defense is exactly what the Lakers need. I think they will physically dominate teams and just need the guards to shut down threw WC guards and hit open 3s. Bradley satisfies that.
Raptors, need him after losing Green.
I was going to ask what their cap situation is b/c they were one of the first teams I thought of. Lakers make sense. I could think of a few others, but it depends on what hes looking for
A bunch of teams want/use him.
Likely rockets, lakers, clippers, raptors, hell even bucks could all need him. I think as someone else said. He will Be after some good $ and I don’t think any of these teams can offer that.
Bradley will have a fairly robust market as a discount option that’ll immediately find a role in a playoff caliber teams rotation. Grizzlies are going to be a very bad team in 2019-20 unless Ja Moranf immediately becomes a difference maker at the NBA Level. Even in that scenario, don’t see much more than a 25 win team.
Avery Bradley went to Texas. Let’s go Mavs!
Philly would be the best place for him. This coming from a Celtics fan. Indy I think still has some money,
Love to have Bradley back in Boston for us. I know he makes too much money now but he would be excellent as our 6th man and raining threes off the bench.
Boston would be the best place for him and he could teach our young guys how to play defense.
TOR must still have it’s MLE available. I know they signed some Euro guy but I think it was for the min. They could give him same contract Marcus Morris got from SA.
Plus he’d likely start with Powell coming off the bench.
Is he still tough on defense? Historically, statistics underrated him there and I haven’t seen him lately. I am doubtful.
