10:23pm: Brazdeikis received a three-year deal with the first two seasons guaranteed, tweets Lithuanian basketball writer Donatas Urbonas. The Knicks hold a team option on the third year.
5:02pm: The Knicks have signed second-round pick Ignas Brazdeikis, according to the NBA’s transactions log.
Terms of the agreement were not released, but it looks like New York will use cap room, since it was announced before any of the team’s other moves. That means Brazdeikis is eligible for a deal up to four years, which is what second-round pick Mitchell Robinson received last summer.
New York traded up to No. 47 on draft night to select Brazdeikis, sending cash and the 55th pick to the Kings in return.
A 6’7″ forward out of Michigan, Brazdeikis averaged 14.8 points and 5.4 rebounds in 37 games in his only season with the Wolverines. He was also a 39% 3-point shooter in college.
he’s a good solid player. saw a few games this year. should be a solid rotation player.
Yeah I’m a mich alum, so watched him a lot last year, thought he would’ve been best off staying another year (same for Jordan Poole) – though arguably just the mich fan side of me talking. Was very happy when Knicks drafted him. Time will tell of course, but he moves the floor well, is a solid finisher, and with some good development could become a contributor.
As a Michigan fan i agree with all of this !
Kid looked awful in his first summer league game – and I do mean awful. Hope he picks it up from there.
Your comment is worse… no point to it
Not sure why the objection but I could use some funny details of awfulness.
Barrett has looked awful, Brazdeikis however has looked good, very good.
Yes Braz had a couple of bad moments but about 20 good ones. It looks like if he has to be spontaneous he just relies on strength, which is limiting. But he is quick and sure with practiced moves, can push through contact, and shoots well if in rhythm.
The announcers compared him to Sarunas Marcellonus but he liked spontaneous stuff. They’re both vikings from Lithuania. ;)
Robinson looked good too but still raw.
Barrett is very talented. Just off to a poor start. Could be many factors. Hope he likes MSG, cause he will play 41 games there and that’s mostly what matters. Sometimes players don’t like the arena, the lighting, etc. That’s what home court advantage is about. But Robinson and Braz are 2 very nice 2nd rounders. Now Knox and Barrett need to step up and show what 1st rounders should do. Trier is a player, will only get better, world of confidence and a good shooter, Kadeem should have an interesting role off the bench if there’s room on the 15 man squad for him.
How’s this comment aging after he dropped 3 last night lol
30 sorry for the typo
