SEPTEMBER 30, 9:35pm: The signing is official, according to a team press release.
SEPTEMBER 24, 5:40pm: The Warriors and Marquese Chriss have reached an agreement on a one-year deal, Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reports (via Twitter). Anthony Slater of The Athletic (Twitter link) hears that the contract is non-guaranteed.
Chriss is unlikely to make the Warriors’ open day roster, as the team is hard-capped and doesn’t have the room for a 15th contract. However, if Chriss shows promise during camp, the franchise could make a corresponding move to keep Chriss on the squad.
The big man was selected with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2016 draft, though he never lived up to his lofty draft status. Phoenix traded him to Houston in the Ryan Anderson deal back in 2018 and the Rockets declined to pick up his fourth-year option last fall. Chriss also spent time with the Cavaliers, playing in 27 games for Cleveland last season.
Could he be the Quese to success?
Watched him play a few games at UW. Physical freak but may have the lowest basketball IQ on the planet.
He can’t possibly make the team, pure camp fodder.
He would fit in very well in their motion offense, it’s just his perimeter game is very average. Defensively also he is a liability, he has t-rex arms and a wing span below 7’0.
I bet you wouldn’t say that to his face.
Santa Cruz is where he will end up playing.
Looking forward to it. Although, I’m still pissed they built that arena in the boardwalks overflow parking lot. Had some good memories in that lot!
Keesy doesn’t have dinosaur arms but he’s a funny player who I think, is a better player than Tyler Ulis, who the two of them were from the former Suns upbringing. Kees was funny on Rockets. Too many big slams. Obvs. by now has the far bigger potential window than Ulis or even Josh Jackson, so then that’s in his favor and his slams really are sometimes incomparable. He’s on GSW
Yes I think Criss thinks about slamming too much. He looked tentative otherwise in CLE.
GM Meyers has been going away from cerebral players. Actually it’s possible he has never favored them: Curry & Klay were already onboard, and Draymond, Iguodala & Bogut were possibly acquired for their physicality without caring or even knowing they were also smart players.
Yes we don’t seem realize time guys don’t get playing time or don’t make team because they can’t remember plays or pretend know players and always out position on floor and those guys not in great basketball IQ category
