The Pistons have exercised Luke Kennard‘s fourth-year option, as Rod Beard of The Detroit News relays. Kennard is slated to make $5.3MM during the 2020/21 season.
The shooting guard was selected with the No. 12 pick in the 2017 draft. He started 10 games for the Pistons last season.
Kennard is one of just five players on the team with a guaranteed contract for the 2020/21 campaign. Blake Griffin, Derrick Rose, Sekou Doumbouya, and Khyri Thomas are the four others.
I think Kennard is gonna impress a lot of people this season. He’s a taller CJ McCollum or a less skilled Bradley Beal imo.
I like the less skilled Beal comp. Already one of the best shooters in the league and still has room for growth with the rest of his offensive game. Underrated passer as well.
I wish he could start and truly be unleashed, but I understand the fit for him is much better off the bench with this squad. Still expecting a big step forward for him this season regardless.
Piston fans, would you trade Kennard and a first rounder for Buddy Heild? Remember you also have to sign Heild to a 20 million a year deal for about 4 years.
I think Luke will be even better this year. But I font think he will ever be quite as good as Heild. As far as the 20 mill contract. Who else gonna take it in Free Agency thats quality maybe Derozen. Who would you rather pay Derozen 20 mill or Heild? I would take Heild he can def be as good as Middleton next year. And maybe good as derozen or beal in a couple more with the right development.
Hield is gonna be closer to $30MM not 2o. He is asking for a $110/4 from Sacramento they offered $90/4 he ain’t taking it & that is already more than $20.
Your right my math was off. I would stick with Kennard for that.
