Speculation about the Cavaliers trading Kevin Love will continue until either the team trades him or moves a move to elevate the talent in Cleveland. Love hears the rumors, but doesn’t have a feel for what will happen next, as Tim Reynolds of The Associated Press details.
“I’m just going to let the chips fall,” Love said. ‘‘I know that this is a young team. I think I can help them. I’m going to do right by Cleveland, the organization. This is a league where teams want to rebuild, teams want to go young but certain teams are looking for a piece, a guy who’s played in the Finals, a guy who has playoff experience. I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I think it definitely lessens the burden and the anxiety.”
While Love could certainly help a contender or playoff-bound team, he isn’t forcing a change of scenery.
”I’ve been committed to Cleveland since Day 1,” Love said. ”I know it’s been a little shaky at some points. It’s been really great at some points. But now I’ve found some semblance of balance in my life, not only on the court but away from it.”

Love and 2nd to Charlotte
Williams, Zeller, Monk to Cleveland
No sense for Cleveland
love to Boston
Gordon Haywood, Boston’s own #1 for 2020 and in 2022 and Milwaukee’s #1 for Love and Cleveland’s #1 top 3 protected.
Immediate impact is -4 wins for Boston but I think that’s skewed because of a short sample for 2019.
Cleveland is in the mist of a rebuild, no way they’re giving up a first
I don’t think either team would do that
i like him on boston and portland still
Cavs only want picks and expiring deals. Plus I think adding monk would put the Cavs over the tax line.
Whiteside, Collins, and a first for Love and McKinnie. Keeps Cleveland out of the tax, and gives them an expiring they might be able to flip before the deadline.
Portland gets better, but I’m not sure it’s going to make them great. Love is old.
Portland shouldn’t give up Collins for Loves overpriced contract
They’re not getting Love without surrendering a young player. Cleveland will just wait for a better offer.
I think Kevin Love wants to go to Portland and his agent is putting this stuff out there. His good friend Channing Frye already went out earlier this season and said the Blazers should get him. He’s not saying anything publicly to not be a distraction but he’s from Oregon and it makes too much sense that he’d be pushing to return home to play for a contender. As a Blazers fan, if we’re giving up young players and picks anyway, I’d rather go after Blake Griffin than K Love though.
Future 2nd round pick, Winslow, James Johnson and Derrick Jones Jr for Love.
“here’s our worst contracts and a guy that might not be in the league in five years for Kevin Love”
I like Love to Portland for Whiteside (expiring), Simons, and a 1st.
Would tie up Portland salary cap for a long time, but gives them a 3rd scorer and replaces Whiteside’s rebounding.
Why Portland would give up a promising young player and a 1st to become a tax team and have no way to upgrade in the future?
First, this doesn’t make them a tax team. Salaries exchanged are identical.
Second, you make this trade if you think it lets you compete for a championship. That is why you make trades.
Third, do you have anything better to do than disagree with every single suggestion?
The real question Is: Cleveland take another one young PG?

Kevin Love has wanted to go to Portland for a while think it would be a good way for him to end his career.
Kevin Love and Brandon Knight for Hassan Whiteside, Zach Collins and a first round pick.
Portland when Nurkic returns gets a nice starting line up of Lillard McCollum Bazemore Love Nurkic with a decent bench.
Cavs get back a huge expiring deal of Whiteside, they get a good young player in Collins and get a first rounder.
Cavs would have a bunch of expiring deals (Whiteside, TT, Clarkson, Delly, Henson) which gives them options. TT and Clarkson would give them good returns if they want some picks, while keeping the other 3 still gives them lots to spend in FA if they want to do that.
No way would Portland give up Collins and a 1st for that garbage return
Don’t see how Kevin Love is a garbage return. Also Brandon Knight was a really good sixth man PG back in the day and Portland doesn’t really have anyone to play back up being Lillard. Simons has done abit to hell that area but he’s more of a SG than PG. Knight could be a nice addition that you could resign for a cheap deal after this year. Something like 3years 12mil

You don’t pay for what someone did back in the day. Knight is sunk cost today. Simons is just fine for the role Knight could provide now.
Knight is more as a salary filler I thought but really it wouldn’t work with Knight as he earns to much but you could do it with Delly.
Yes Simons is doing just fine as a back up but the team is struggling as a group. Just think that having a more experienced guard as a back up would be better. Delly would be a better pick up for Portland too cause he can play a little bit more defence and is more of a leader
Meh on Dellavedova too. PORT may be struggling as a team but throwing $$ at positions that aren’t broke wouldn’t seem to be the solution. Too many changes will just further break what you do have – just focus on improving your needs.
As an aside, I also doubt that Love and his contract have the juice to pull two assets and help with a useless expiring too. If I was on the other end, I’d be offering the matching filler (Whiteside) and a late 1st and let CLE accept/reject. That contract isn’t going to get better and the worst thing for a rebuilding club is to have a past his prime star bitter about being denied his last chance to play for a contender.
Kevin Love to raptors for Norman Powell, Patrick McCaw and a 2nd draft
Man are you trying to rob blindly the poor Cavs with all that garbage? At least you gotta star by putting Siakam on the table then add from there, you must be a Raptor homer, right?
Remember a good trade is when both teams win, not when one rips off the other, then is a bad trade.
I think you’d have to include either Gasol or Ibaka to make salaries work and open a spot in the lineup for love. But I like Toronto as a destination for Love.
Don’t see the fit really. Raptors already have big men that can shoot Gasol and Ibaka both who play better defence. Plus the Cavs will want a better return than that trash
For sure if Portland takes Love wouldn t have Zach anymore…
So
Portland take LOVE, Cleveland take Collins.
The rest of the deal (whiteside or bazemore or picks) are filler
I think a good One could be
Love + TT
Collins + Whiteside + bazemore
Thompson is in the middle of a contract year run and might actually have a little value come deadline time. Pretty sure CLE would prefer to separate Love & Thompson for maximum value. This is 2x true considering considering Love’s & Thompson’s contract situations.
Huh? First off, Collins is probably done for the season. Second, HUH???
KLove has to go to the middle part of the 3pt line to get a shot. He is always in iso and will shoot without rebounders in position. Clarkson, then Sexton, then Garland, and KLove is outnumbered.
I have been blaming Jalen Rose’s commentary for the speculation but probably I’m wrong. The media keeps coming up with this and it could be his people driving it, in order to get out & maybe into the playoffs.
GM Altman prob wants picks. I guess Whieteside is possible but the Cavs already have capspace for 2020, and Simons types. Cavs get a benefit from losing this year but not next.
I meant Love wants a winning team, not Jalen, ha ha.
The EC is most likely. Whiteside will be available regardless & they already got Melo.
HR’s Crouse could do a better job of attribution.
Yeah I don’t think the Cavs need another young guard they have a bunch of those (Garland Sexton Windler Porter), plus Portland are really high on Simons. I think Collins would be better. Having Nance and Collins would be interesting
Kevin Love to the San Antonio Spurs for LaMarcus Aldridge …
Why would San Antonio do that????
Love is full of crap and talking out of both sides of his mouth. He’s pandering for the media and saying all the right things publicly, but look what he actually said: “… but certain teams are looking for a piece, a guy who’s played in the Finals, a guy who has playoff experience.” Uhh…do you think you could be any more obvious in trying to sell yourself to other GMs, Kev? And by the way, even with that horrific contract and the fact you’re made of Charmin, you’d already be out of Cleveland if you weren’t such a defensive disaster. No playoff team is going to give up anything substantive for you because,t like Golden State did, teams will run plays to go right through and over you.
You’re so goddamn bad on defense, that Kobe Bryant was compelled to savagely mock your Finals defensive performance on the ESPN show “Detail.” In the playoffs, you’re not an asset. You’re a liability. Your terrible contract and your physical and mental softness is just frosting on the cake.
That’s not what “talking out of both sides” means. KLove is looking at both sides of the stay/leave situation at the same time– not telling different people opposite things to please them.
The point is he ruminated publicly.
Now maybe he evaded previously but that is the expectation for players fielding the ‘leave’ question.
But he did not throw back the regular flat denial this time!
I say Love to Dallas for Courtney Lee and the next available Dallas 1st.
Cavs keep getting future assets and expiring Lee, Dallas adds Love to Luka and KP
