An MRI on Kemba Walker‘s left knee came back negative, but the Celtics guard will sit out tonight’s game against the Suns, tweets Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe. Coach Brad Stevens provided reporters with a pre-game medical update, saying Walker’s knee is still “very sore.”
“Kemba got ahold of our doctors last night and said he had some knee soreness,” Stevens said. “Went and got an MRI today, didn’t show anything structurally wrong, but very sore … I don’t get the impression it’s a long-term thing.” (video link from Chris Forsberg of NBC Sports Boston)
Walker experienced some pain in the knee during preseason, but has missed just four regular season games, three of which were because of the flu. He underwent operations on the knee in 2016 and 2017 after suffering a torn meniscus while he was with the Hornets.
Walker is coming off one of his best games of the season, scoring 40 points Thursday in a loss at Milwaukee. He is averaging 22.1 points and 4.9 rebounds per game in his first season with the Celtics and is a strong contender for his fourth straight All-Star appearance.
We could have used Walker and Brown against the lowly Suns tonight. Either one could have made the difference between winning or losing. Our bench stunk up the Garden, and we got out-rebounded 52/39.
Wanamaker, G Williams and Semi were just awful and in effect wasted 43 playing minutes.
Theis and Kanter got 8 rebounds between them; Ayton got 15 for the Suns.
Die hard Celts fan here, another less than 10 loss to an overachieving Suns team isn’t terrible. Ayton and Booker are beasts, Baynes was doing great, Bridges is always high on the fantasy league available FAs. Celtics have like 7 rookies and either win or lose by 8 or less. It happens.
Do you not think we need a trade ?
On the fence honestly. Lot of young guys with potential. Maybe if it got a rebounder for 2 or 3 years but it’s a hard question. I mean if they could get Drummond without giving up Brown, Tatum or Hayward for sure, but giving up Smart and picks won’t do it.
How about Wanamaker, G Williams and Semi plus a draft pick for Bertans or Bjelica ?
BOS-PHX: Is Dario Saric so awful? He hasn’t done much in the last 13-14 games; may have given up a bit. Should have been a fit with Ayton more than with Towns or Embiid.
