Richaun Holmes has been out since January 7 with a shoulder injury and he was expected to be ready to return this week. However, it doesn’t appear like that’s going to happen, as coach Luke Walton said the center has not practiced yet (Twitter link via Jason Jones of The Athletic).
Walton said Holmes is improving, but he won’t play until he can practice. The setback is troubling for the Kings. If they have any hope to make the postseason, they’ll need Holmes to contribute.
Holmes signed with Sacramento this offseason and before getting hurt, he was arguably the team’s best player. The 26-year-old big man sports a 21.1 player efficiency rating and a still team-leading 4.6 win shares.
Walton also addressed the status of Marvin Bagley III. He remains out with a foot injury. The 2018 No. 2 overall pick has only played in 13 games for the Kings this season.
Mild foot strain keeping Bagley for six+ weeks. Yeah okay Kings. Does he have to lose his foot for it to be severe?
Bagley is going to go down as one of the worst draft picks ever. There are several reasons, but mainly cause EVERYONE knew Doncic was the better pick. Also, they could’ve easily traded down like Atlanta and got Bagley and another 1st round pick. I hate the argument about taking away from Fox. You deal with that later. Doncic is an ideal modern day player with size to switch defensively and can run PG so the other guard can score (ie draymond green and curry).
Exaggeration… current knowledge was not available AT THE TIME.
Bagley was #3 if not #2 if I recall.
Not that Bagley turned out better. The red flag was Coach K having to direct him so hard.
Bagley was #2 or #3 on what? The big board? They could of traded the #2 pick the same way Atlanta did with the 3 pick. There’s no chance it was discussed with Dallas and NOT the team with the pick right in front. Vlade just had some weird infatuation with Bagley that I just don’t see. He has 1 above average skill: jumping. Coach K directing him and not being able to play man to man defense is definitely a red flag too. Also, he does not fit the style of play that they were aiming for in the first place. Bagley is not capable of an offense with a lot of movement and passing. There’s no evidence of him anywhere on tape or anything that indicates he can.

You could look up mocks and such yourself; look up Bagley. He was not going to last past #3, though yes is kind of an iso player. There could be confusion with Dukie Wendl Carter.
Some say Vlade skipped Doncic because he didn’t like Doncic’s family. Doncic had flaws, so thought. I said I need to see the film!
Say Bagley is taken 3rd……I would take Jaren Jackson and a 1st or trae young and a 1st over Bagley. I was never high on Bagley. He’s as 1 dimensional as it gets. Can you name 1 skill, aside from jumping, that he is above average in for the nba? Also, big men have blinders on and love big men. Can you name a former big man that has been a successful GM?
Ha ha IDK. The medium height guys have done the best at GM it seems.
Not sure if you’re familiar with the story of Bagley with the Kings but he and Bjelica has caused dissension and gotten one exec fired already.
Bagley is a physical phenom of height, athleticism, & skills. He can do iso things but does not seem to be a winner so far. Now he’s tender? Another Giles.
Every european knew Luka was super. Everyone but Count Vlade.
Above all sacto coach.
Trae is the surprise, not Luka
At the end bagley deserved the #4 before trae.
