Georgia guard Anthony Edwards heads to Cleveland in the latest mock draft compiled by ESPN’s Jonathan Givony. Former Memphis center James Wiseman (Golden State), Auburn swingman Isaac Okoro (Atlanta), guard LaMelo Ball (New York) and Israeli swingman Deni Avdija (Charlotte) round out the top five. USC big man Onyeka Okongwu has firmly moved into the top 10 after a couple of big performances against top competition and Givony has him going to Detroit at No. 7.
We have more from the basketball world:
- Makur Maker has been declared eligible for this year’s draft, Evan Daniels of 247Sports reports. The 6’11” Maker is a five-star recruit currently at Hillcrest Academy in Phoenix but he doesn’t plan to play any more games there, Daniels continues. The question about his eligibility stemmed from not receiving his diploma following his senior year of high school. Maker plans to play in the Iverson Classic All-Star game and the Nike Hoop Summit, Daniels adds.
- NBA players have voted to support the formation of a union for G League players, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. The vote was held at the NBPA meeting on Monday. Formal approval at the G League level will have to take place before the union can be formed (Twitter links).
- Raptors 905 guard Michael Bethea Jr. is the subject of a feature story by The Athletic’s Blake Murphy on the life of a G League player.
Warriors will win nothing unless they deal 2020 First, 2021 wolves First and use 17 million trade exception
That makes no sense at all. Put Wiseman in the middle. You still have looney, bowman, Smiley, chriss, Pascal, Poole, Lee and Bowman on the bench. That is 12 man deep needing a few low wage men to round out the last 3. If they are healthy they make the playoffs.
That’s hardly a list of players any team would want go 12-deep with. And nothing like what the Warriors had in 2015 with players like Iggy, Livingston, Speights, Barbosa, Lee, and Ezeli coming off the bench for them.
All those players are washed that you listed. They can sign vets just as good or better for the minimum in the off season. Just like they did with WCS, Burcs, and GRIII
Um the bench u mentioned wasn’t that great bud. Good enough to beat the sorry a$$ rockets for sure.
We’ll see if that’s true on Thursday.
We’ll see what? If ur A team can beat our D team lol. What happened these past 5 years when we were full strength? I’ll wait
You can’t reason with this guy, he is blinded by the Rockets red glare
You mentioned bowman twice
Yea. Proof read ur work. Spell check and use proper grammar. This is important stuff. How can we take u seriously if u don’t?
Those players in your list drafted from 28th to 90th picks. None of them are quality players.
90th pick? There hasn’t been a 90th pick in the NBA draft in 2 decades.
I think spieghts was the 114th pick
Speights wasn’t even born the last time there were more than 2 rounds in the NBA draft.
I’m pretty sure he was a 5th round pick. Check ur facts
1987 was the last year the draft had more than 2 rounds. I’m pretty sure he wasn’t drafted in 1987.
Lol, 5th round!
Well considering the FACT he was drafted 16th overall in the first round, Im pretty sure you’re still a mistake. Really should get ip bannned from the site
Huh? Who? Why?
I think he’s talking about you
a simple google search would’ve revealed the true answer – 1st rd 16th pick. how lazy are you? #fakefacts
How about the 2 picks and Wiggins for Beal?
Doesn’t make any sense.
we are have a 2 who’s arguably better than Beal. His name is Klay Thompson. Maybe you’ve heard of him?
The guy with the bum knee? Good luck with that haha
A shooter with a bad knee is never a good thing. If healthy your statement about Klay being better than beal could be true.
What would you do with Klay’s contract? A trade for Beal would be incredibly dumb.
They’re going to have a high draft pick this year. You can upgrade or go young. I’d go young.
Also why would the Cavs draft a gaurd for the third straight year with a Top 10 pick. That doesn’t make sense…
Then again, its the Cavs haha
The Warriors would be wise to draft a PG. Curry has proven himself incapable of being able to stay healthy for an entire season.
Rockets should draft a pg and sg. The ones they got have proven incapable of winning championships
Two HOF guards can’t win a championship? Quit smoking crack.
Have they? No. Will they? Nope
Will the warriors make the playoff this year, nope, next year, nope, ever again? Don’t hold your breath.
have they won? didn’t think so? will they. Highly doubtful. rockets will be lucky to advance past the 1st rd.
So what? 30 other teams haven’t won either and you aren’t gonna be winning anything anytime soon so maybe you should shut up with the trash talk until you can actually field a team capable of competing again. We’re still in the hunt and will be for the foreseeable future. Enjoy another 20 year playoff drought.
sure when the rockets are sniffing 8th place next season with their team of 6’6″ guys. Literally trying t oemulate the Death Lineup, it’s so embarrassing. You must be a Darryl Morey Stan.
Good luck with Utah in the 1st rd.
Blah blah blah, meaningless trash talk. I’ll believe it when I see it. The fact it’s coming from you almost assures it won’t happen haha
We’ve been posting up undersized Pf as centers for a while now. Morey has been developing this style of play for his entire tenure as the Rocket’s GM. GS emulated US, but had the better roster. You must be on crack or new to basketball. It’s embarrassing that you think you developed the death lineup just out of the blue. Things don’t happen that way.
in the hunt for 4th best team in the west. Do you get a piece of metal for that? Or is that only reserved for the cheaters in HOU?
I didn’t know the season was over, oh wait!! Stop drinking tap water.
During their 5-year championship run, Curry did manage to stay healthy playing 394 out of 410 regular season games. But during the rest of his injury-plagued career, Steph has only managed to stay healthy for 304 out of 449 regular season games.
U really researched that lol? He had ankle problems that he got over early in his career. He broke his hand this year. Believe me he’d be back already if we had a chance at the playoffs this year
Apparently he didn’t get over the injury bug and never will complete another 82 game season since he doesn’t have a stacked roster.
stacked roster? the inclusion of KD is the only reason the warriors had a stacked roster. Man your envy and jealousy is showing through. how embarrassing for you.
That you got KD because he wanted easy rings? Yeah I am, me and every single other team in the league. That’s why it was Durant and the Warriors and not Durant’s Warriors. He used you for rings, congrats you’re a 2 dollar.. well you know what you are.
So you agree, he had a stacked roster and without it he’s just really good.
put words in my mouth why don’t you? whatever I need to say to help you fill in your narrative.
Every smart warrior fan knew that KD was leaving before 2018 started. Not crying over spilt milk, seems like both sides benefited from that arrangement. 2/3 chips.
like you’re pathetic team wouldn’t have done the same thing. you’re a hypocrite!
Hypocrite…I literally stated that I was envious, along with every other team in the nba that didn’t get to sign him. Ugh, apparently warrior fans can’t read and project their character flaws on other people. It must be in the water there. And like I said, I agree it was a good arrangement, it was just cheap. It would’ve been cheap if he went to the rockets, but he didn’t and we don’t have to worry about having asterisks on our chips. Cheers.
For the record, any words I say are mine. I don’t care to put words in your mouth, I don’t know where you’ve been, especially if you’re a San Fran fan.
Yes it’s true. If Curry goes down the Warriors are definitely not the same team. We can just hope he and all players in the league stay healthy. Don’t wish injury on anyone.
I don’t think the Warriors should draft a point guard they’ve got Curry as a starter and a few decent backups to play the remaining 20 minutes.
They’re working with Jordan Poole at the one this year. He has such great instincts as a floor General but needs to get his shot together (lol.) He has range and no conscience a la Klay Thompson but his percentage is absolutely horrible. Definitely something to work on I think he’s got the tools.
Plus Bowman and Draymond Green play the point guard. Wiggins can handle the ball also. Definitely don’t need to draft a point guard. Best player available is the way to go. Could be a wing, could be a big man.
They should at least draft someone to replace Bowman. He’s been serviceable but he’s one of those one year guys that are good but you don’t keep. They need a replacement, but their first pick should go to the best wing available. Big men are a dime a dozen now, unless you’re ad and the like.
right we need a replacement for our backup pg. how many nba rosters have you constructed?
Especially when he doesn’t have four other HOF on the roster. Glass Curry is back and here to stay.
Seriously. Curry has already played through injury, enroute to a championship. If a PG is the best available, go for it.
It shouldn’t have been too hard when you don’t really have mich weight on your shoulders. Seriously.
Which pick are you talking about? I’m talking low draft pick. Second round. You can strike gold easier with a pg in that range, like another Livingston type. Their first should be a wing that can play pf in the death line up.
Based on your logic. The Golden state warriors are doing a great job.
Big news here and also a big black eye for the mlb playets union who have left their minor league brethren on food stamps because 300 million dollar contracts aren’t quite enough.
Well done NBA players Union!!!!
Classy act!
What does the NBA players union have to do with Minor League baseball? It’s the teams that pay the salaries.
Seems like one of the weakest drafts in recent memory….
Absolutely. I’m sure there will be one or two surprises down the road, but overall very uninteresting draft.
Kind of just want to see where LaMelo goes and could care less about the rest of the lot
Cavs will pick swap with Warriors, Garland for Wiseman and sign Beasley for a Max deal.
Big Baller to the Big Apple.
NBA could easily give all 30 teams $2M per for the G League and never blink an eye. Plus their health insurance to boot.
Win / Win for everyone.
I like it.
Just what the Cavs need, a 5th center
Im well aware of the surgery he got on his bum knee and that the warriors season is lost. The rockets know something about bum knees and yeah sorry to say but The knee is gone, just you watch. He’s not going to be the same again. Curry will continue to be injured since he doesn’t have 4 other HOF in their prime to carry the weight.
I’m really not because you haven’t refuted any points that I’ve made. You think calling someone dumb is a retort and you then call them a troll…the irony is palpable haha
so you’re some medical expert then on knees? you’ve written many peer reviewed articles submitted to major scientific institutions?
all you are doing spouting is your bullshit opinion with no factual support. Again your envy of the GSW franchise is palpable through text, you keep repeating the same things over and over as if saying them enough times will make them true.
I get your a homer HOU Rocket fan. Cool story. You can start talking to me when you win a Western Conference Finals.
Nope, but an argument from authority only proves that you don’t understand the flaws in your argument. If he comes back and I’m right, does that mean I’m a medical doctor? Have I then proven I can take care of patients? No it doesn’t because your logic is fallacious and down right stupid. The logic is simple, something damaged doesn’t work the same again (his knee).
“No factual support” and then proceeds to provide no factual support for his counter assertions. Midwits are annoying af, but ironically funny.
I’ve provided firm arguments thst, if they were weak, it should be no problem disproving them, but as it seems that a small amount of loud GS fans are unable to grasp that simple concept. Must be in the water.
What makes them true is your inability to counter them. Until you’re ready to step onto the plate with real basketball knowledge and remove the douche bag from your very essence, come talk to me.
Almost everyone is a homer. That’s never an insult, it’s only an indicator of your lack of decorum and smarts.
Stay tuned (:
Mock draft
1. James Wiseman GSW
2. Anthony Edwards Hawks
3. LaMelo Ball Knicks
4. Issac Okoro Cavs
5. Cole Anthony Pistons
6. Deni Avdija Hornets
7. Onyeka Okungwu Wolves
8. Jaden McDaniels Bulls
9. Tyrese Halliburton Wizards
10. Obi Toppin Kings
11. Nico Mannion Suns
12. Tyrese Maxey Spurs
Avdija looks good. He would be a good pick for the Bulls if they get lucky with the ping pong balls, or if a couple of teams below them have a late season run. God knows Bulls won’t win more than 25 games, but that might keep them in that 7 slot they love so much.
