Dante Exum will miss an “extended period of time” with a left ankle sprain, tweets Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com. Cavaliers coach J.B. Bickerstaff provided the medical update in a session with reporters before tonight’s game.
Exum suffered the injury in Monday’s contest against the Hawks. He limped off the court under his own power, but was unable to return. Exum was walking with a crutch this morning, Bickerstaff added.
It’s a familiar story for the 24-year-old guard, who has been limited to 91 games over the past three years due to a variety of injuries, including a knee issue earlier this season.
Exum has established himself as a rotation player since being acquired from the Jazz in late December. In 24 games with the Cavs, he is averaging 16.8 minutes and 5.6 points per night.
Coming into the draft this dude had a best case scenario projection of Russell Westbrook/Penny Hardaway! Worst case scenario? Michael Carter-Williams lol.
Shame, looks like he’s turning out more injury prone MCW than Russ/Penny
Exum might have a tiny fraction of Westbrook’s talent.
People are sleeping on Russ this season because he’s not averaging a triple-double like he did the last 3 years. But he is in fact having the best season of his career and he (plus Harden) may possibly become just the second pair of teammates in NBA history to average 30 PPG. The others were Mr. Inside and Mr. Outside: Elgin Baylor and Jerry West. In that comparison Harden is Mr. Outside and Westbrook is Mr. Inside with his mercurial speed to the basket.
Bro I have nothing against Westbrook calm down hahaha
Rockets fans have a lot to be excited about when it comes to him. Westbrook is averaging 31.8 PPG since mid-December, he shot 52% last month, and is shooting 54% this month.
Yeah I watch basketball I know he’s been doing well
He’s not even MCW yet. At least MCW was god enough to win a Rookie of the Year award. Exum hasn’t even come close to that.
Their per 36 numbers are similar (MCW has the slight edge) hence why I said “injury prone MCW”
Everyone knows the year MCW won ROY was a trash year for rookies. It’s funny looking at his stats, they get steadily worse each year he was in the league lol.
He deserves a MIP award
Most injured player
Too bad. If he could stay healthy, he’d be a good rotation player for the Cavs.
When is this dude not injured? Remember people thought he would be a superstar. Called The Magic crazy for drafting Gordon over him. At least Gordon plays and is decent.
