Timberwolves superstar center Karl-Anthony Towns has been diagnosed with a fractured left wrist and will be sidelined for a minimum of two weeks, according to a team press release.
It’s the latest setback for Towns, who has also missed 15 games this season due to a sprained left knee and two others for a league-imposed suspension. Towns sat out the last game prior to the All-Star break due to the wrist injury.
Towns received a period of treatment and monitoring from the Wolves medical staff before the fracture was discovered. He has been assessed by multiple specialists over the last several days, the release adds.
The Timberwolves are 21 games under .500, so Towns’ absence won’t impact the team’s postseason hopes. However, it will reduce the opportunities that Towns has this season to establish chemistry with newly-acquired point guard D’Angelo Russell.
Towns, 24, is averaging career highs in points (26.5 PPG) and assists (4.4 APG) this season.
Timberpuppies continue to be snake bit since their inception.
Will it ever End ?
Not in my lifetime.
So it took Wolves like a week and Towns seeking outside doctors for them to discover it’s a fracture.
Isn’t it amazing how pathetic this franchise is. When he missed time earlier this season they called it a day to day injury n he missed an entire months of games and had people questioning his toughness all because they were to stupid to figure out he was gonna be out a lot longer then a day to day injury diagnosis would suggest
The next update on towns is going to be him needing surgery. There’s nothing they can do now since its been too long of time from when he was injured and its already trying to heal naturally. If that’s the case, the medical staff is incompentant and should be fired for effing up their investment.
Things like this can change players forever and even end careers in the worst cases. One recent example that we know of was the botched surgery of former Vikings 1st rd pick DT Sharif Floyd who was well on his way to a nice career n potentially an all-pro type career
This king is first to an all-star game before Stephen Curry so let there be no two jokes before these two: Towns wasn’t selected as an all-star and Curry broke his hand on a potentially flagrant foul trying to jump over a Suns center. Towns was only a fan favorite, an all-star snub, out with the sore wrist but coming back in to win soon. Curry on the other hand just isn’t an all-star
OK on Curry.
But he HAS had a better career than Jonny Flynn.
And Curry COULD HAVE BEEN a Timberwolf !!
Sit him rest of year. No need to hurry. Tank. The NBA will make sure the Wolves go down from their slot anyhow. It’s all rigged.
