The Hawks could make a run at Wizards power forward Davis Bertans this summer, according to Bleacher Report’s Michael Scotto. The Hawks will have ample cap space to pursue free agents and a stretch four like Bertans would make for a pick-and-pop combination with star point guard Trae Young, Scotto notes. Bertans, who will be an unrestricted free agent, is averaging 14.9 PPG and shooting 42.2% from deep this season. He’s a trade candidate but the latest intel claims he’s unlikely to be dealt.
We have more from the Southeast Division:
- Hawks rookie forward Cam Reddish has been diagnosed with a concussion, according to a team press release. Reddish suffered the head injury against Dallas on Saturday. The 10th overall pick of last year’s draft is averaging 9.1 PPG and 3.8 RPG in 26.0 MPG.
- Hornets rookie forward PJ Washington missed Monday’s game against Orlando with a right ankle sprain, the team’s PR department tweets. Washington also sat out the previous game after suffering the injury against Washington on Thursday. Washington, the 12th pick in the draft, is averaging 12.2 PPG and 5.3 RPG in 30.1 MPG.
- It remains uncertain when Heat forward Justise Winslow will return to action, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald relays. Coach Erik Spoeltra wasn’t sure if Winslow would join the team for the start of its five-game road trip on Tuesday, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel tweets. Winslow has played in just one game since December 6 because of a lower back bone bruise.
Pistons: C. Parsons + C. Reddish + K. Heuter + First rounder + Second Rounder
Hawks: A. Drummond + L. Kennard
Hawks give up Parsons Heuter and a second for Drummond, and give up Reddish and a first for Kennard. Pistons give up two of its main pieces but gets back 2 nice young players, 2 picks and an expiring deal.
Hawks line up
1. Young. Teague
2. Kennard
3. Hunter
4. Collins. Parker
5. Drummond. Len. Fernando
Pistons get a fresh start ….
No way Hawks are stupid enough to accept this crap storm of a deal. Kennard is not worth Reddish straight up, much less adding a first round pick. Huerter is better than Kennard, and one of Hawks core players to build around, especially at 21.
That’s just disrespectful! The Hawks are not making that trade! If you read all the reports, the Hawks would not even give up BK’s 1rst that they own, so they are definitely not going this route.
Reddish could possibly be the best player in this package as soon as next year. Ownership and Trae Young are high on him, he’s going no where! this is just a disrespectful proposal!
Drummond has an opt out, you are not getting significant pieces for him. A late first is what you should be looking for. Same with D. Rose, he should be given a chance to win. Trade him receive future assets and move on. But understand you are not getting these type of packages for players that can be free agents, especially from a team still building like the Hawks.
I’m sorry but you guys must be joking. Reddish is the best player in this deal…Reddish is better than Kennard ….
Reddish: 9 points 4 rebounds 1.5 assists
Shooting 35% FG and 31% 3P% and 79% FT
Hueter: 12 points 4 rebounds 3 assists
Shooting 42% FG and 40% 3P% and 80% FT
Kennard: 16 point 3.5 rebounds 4 assists
Shooting 44% FG and 40% 3P% and 89% FT
Kennard is a much better shooter in every way, he’s better at passing and scoring and is more of a contributer.
If the Hawks continue to take this slow rebuild approach and settle for average to below average like Reddish and Heuter then Trae Young will leave.
This trade is an expiring deal, Reddish who has been underwhelming, Heuter who is nice and som picks for Drummond the leagues best rebounder, who is also a decent inside scorer and blocker. Plus Luke Kennard who is a really good complementary shooter for Young.
Ignore the fact that Reddish is a rookie and rookie struggle.
Ignore the fact that the Hawks best player ( Trae Young) and ownership love Cam Reddish.
Ignore the fact that ownership and Trae have said publicly this is who they wanted in the draft and it was still in question that they might take him at 4.
Ignore the fact that Reddish has gotten better every month, check the splits.
Ignore the fact that he missed the entire summer due to injury.
So I stand by my statement and please quote me correctly! He could possibly be the best player in this package as soon as next year.
Better yet I’ll just ignore that ridiculous trade you proposed!
First paragraph?
Lol tazza smoking that pipe to much. Ha Kevin came from my Terps buddddy booooy!!!! But they are not giving up on future for headcase drama queen.
Kevin also played baseball with Ian Anderson thru high school, so he loves being in Atlanta. FYI – Anderson is the Braves top pitching prospect.
