Warriors star Stephen Curry will miss all 11 games in February and will be re-evaluated in four weeks, tweets Anthony Slater of The Athletic. Curry is making steady progress in his return from a broken hand, and the team is “hopeful” he can return in March. Curry has increased the intensity of his shooting routines without any issues, Slater adds.
Sources tell Connor Letourneau of The San Francisco Chronicle that Curry will meet with team doctors on February 29. He is targeting a return to the court sometime in early to mid-March, with the March 1 game against the Wizards a possibility depending on how his hand responds to continued treatment.
The Warriors insist that the potential of taking the league’s worst record into the lottery won’t factor into any decisions on Curry. At 10-39, they hold the top spot in our current Reverse Standings, three games ahead of the Knicks, Cavaliers and Hawks.
“We’re going to try to win every game that we can,” head coach Steve Kerr said recently. “I don’t think there’s a whole lot of value in doing anything else other than that.”
He’s been shooting 100% bombing 3’s from halfcourt in practice, how on earth is he not ready?
Oh right, GSW are trying to get a high pick in the worst draft in decades instead of trying to make a late push, and adding Steph = wins, so they don’t wanna do that, riiiight…smh
A late push? This team has 10 wins.
So you think that practicing 3’s and playing a competitive NBA game subjects your body to the same level of stress…
Oto you seem to be implying that he’s done no strength and conditioning on anything except the hand since he’s been out of game action.
If he’s regained his shooting touch, with the injured hand, shouldn’t he at least be able to work on conditioning? Its not like anybody goes 100% for 48 minutes 6 nights in a row. Maybe he could play sparingly to get himself back in game shape..?
Where I said “body” I basically mean “hand”. Shooting 3’s is one thing and playing a game (where someone may hit your hand, you may fall, etc.) a very different one.
How on earth can a 10-39 team make a push
33-0, baby! #DubNationBoi 9th place fo’sho!
May return in March or March return in May? I’ll be here all week, try the veal
The Warriors won’t be playing again in May for a very long time.
Length of time is subjective, 15 months can be considered a long time I guess.
I’m sure he’ll continue to be “re-evaluated” or have mysterious boo boos until the end of the year. No upside in bringing him back now.
They will want to see him play with DLo for a few games to see how they mesh. So he will be back, probably for the first time game of March.
Who cares? He gets paid either way & management doesn’t care. Their Fans don’t care about this season so who really cares?
Steph Curry was a bargain playing under his previous $44M contract when he won back to back MVP’s. And while his team did win their 3rd championship (in 4 years) during the first year of his new $200M contract, they will be stuck paying him $89M over the next two seasons even though he will no longer be the player he used to be in his prime.
Why would the Wars draft Melon Ball? Where would he play?
On a basketball court?
It’s been 3 months. From that point, it’s a form of tanking. I don’t blame the Warriors. Their going nowhere this year and a March return gives them plenty of time to look at him with the current group. I’d do the same thing. But I’d spare everyone the we’ll never tank stuff.
