Rookie guard Ky Bowman injured his right ankle late in the Warriors‘ blowout loss to the Lakers on Thursday night, and head coach Steve Kerr said after the game that he expects Bowman to miss some time as a result of that injury.
“He rolled his ankle pretty well,” Kerr told reporters, including Ali Thanawalla of NBC Sports Bay Area. “It’s not going to be a day-to-day thing. He’s going to be out a little bit. He won’t go on the trip (to Phoenix) and I think he’ll get an MRI (on Friday).”
With Andrew Wiggins and Jordan Poole also banged up, the Warriors’ backcourt might be extremely thin on Saturday vs. Phoenix. However, there’s a chance reinforcements could be coming by Sunday in the form of a two-time MVP.
Here’s more on that, along with a couple other Warriors-related notes:
- Kerr intends to meet with general manager Bob Myers, the team’s training staff, and Stephen Curry on Friday after practice to set a concrete plan for Curry’s return from a broken left hand, per ESPN. A report earlier this week indicated that Curry is on track to get back on the court on Sunday vs. Washington, but the team has yet to confirm that decision.
- Not that there has been any doubt for months, but the top-20 protected 2020 first-round pick Golden State traded to the Nets in last summer’s Kevin Durant/D’Angelo Russell sign-and-trade is now officially protected as a result of Thursday’s loss, writes Anthony Slater of The Athletic. Instead of sending a first-rounder to Brooklyn, the Warriors will instead owe the Nets their 2025 second-round pick (unprotected).
- In case you missed it, we relayed a handful of Warriors-related items on Thursday, including news of the team officially signing Mychal Mulder to a 10-day contract, along with notes on Dragan Bender and Joe Lacob.
The weird thing is that with this year’s weak draft and the potential for an extra year of players in 2025, that Warriors 2nd round pick might be a lot more valuable than a late 1st round pick in 2020.
Late first-round pick? It’s going to be top five.
He meant it being top 20 protected, the only way the Nets get it is if it’s a late first.
Okay sorry.
No need to be sorry. Turner was 100% correct, but I should have been better at clarifying what I meant.
Thank you, reading yours again it makes sense now.
What?
I would like to know why the NBA lets Howard bully ball with no fouls called? Howard should have fouled out by the 2nd quarter. He pushes off on almost every play. If either LeBron or Davis out for the playoffs the Lakers are going nowhere. last night proved that they are a below average team without one of them.
You salty bro? lakers win by 30 and Davis only plays about 25min and you’re saying last night proved the lakers are a below average team?!?! You’re also complete disregarding the fact that they lead the WEST but I’m really perplexed why you used last nights game against the warriors to bolster your stance
warriors were down almost their enitre starting team and still the Lakers barely had a lead. When Green was in GSW had a plus 3. You saw the game there was no doubt Howard was getting away with no calls on fouls. If they can’t beat the warriors G team without 1 of their stars they will not get past a real playoff team.
No excuses. That was the Golden State Warriors playing last night.. injury or no injuries. Lakers slaughtered them. Scoreboard.
No excuses, those are the teams that were on the floor. Lakers got it done.
Sure, but that doesn’t discount his argument that if the lakers struggled against what is literally a G league roster, that they may have trouble against actual good teams
THEY WON BY 30 WITHOUT LEBRON
Warriors were without their whole starting team and traded away half their bench. So in lakers terms that would mean No LeBron, Davis, Kuzma, Pope, Mcgee, Bradley or Rondo. So there is a big difference.
The lakers handed the warriors their fourth worst loss of the season and that happened without their best player. Keep riding that lakers suck stance. The stats and logic defies anything you say about the lakers. Annoying warrior fans just salty their team has returned to irrelevance
You on drugs or something? “If they can’t beat the warriors G team without 1 of their stars they will not get past a real playoff team”. Dude they won by 30 without Lebron and AD basically played 1 half. Draymond is a proven hothead who cant keep his composure so no one cares he got tossed besides clueless Warrior fans who think he is actually good. I love how you say nonstop that the Lakers are screwed if AD or Bron get hurt. Riveting analysis if one of their 2 best players get hurt it will get bad. Lebron has taken 3 load managements all year. How about you go luck at how often Kawhi and George are getting hurt.
Please. Lakers mortgaged an entire decade of their future for this one season, and they still aren’t good. AD will be gone next year, and LeBron is already on the decline, which is why the officials are letting him and his team mates get away with more than ever before. Lakers only look good because the rest of the league took a big step back, and the warriors are taking the year off. Draymond green is good, only Homer LeBron fans think otherwise. LeBron travels more than every other player combined, yet doesn’t get called for it. Howard fouls almost every play, no call. The officials use bogus calls against Lakers opponents to sap momentum and influence outcomes in the Lakers favor. It’s sad to watch, and entitled socal fans are too stupid to see what’s happening right in front of you. Enjoy the next 10 years of irrelevance following your first round exit.
How are they not good? They’re in 1st in the WEST.
Also I’m not a Lakers fan but its clear to me they zero teams will be able to beat them in playoffs if healthy.
Everyone just assumes that AD will re-sign with LA, but he refuses to commit to saying he will stay with the Lakers. An early round exit in the playoffs could greatly effect his decision this summer.
I love how Warrior fans constantly try and upstage each other at who can be the biggest clown. Its sad because you seem to make a solid effort on baseball articles but when it comes to basketball you’re a flat out troll. The best player they traded for AD is a free agent this season. If you think Lonzo, Hart, Hunter and 2 late firsts is mortgaging your team for a decade quit watching basketball. As for AD leaving go look at the teams that have room for a max contract. If you think he leaves the Lakers for any of those teams you are the most clueless person on planet earth. The Lakers are 11-1 vs the teams in the running for the 8 seed but sure they are losing in the first round. Its funny how much Warrior fans have sunk. Even at full strength next year they won’t be better than the Lakers. This isnt 2015 anymore without KD Golden State is nothing.
Next year warriors will spank the Lakers again and again and your excuses will keep coming again and again. Who is the real troll when this article was about the warriors and you came here to respond.
What excuses????? Lmao my whole points are based off REAL results and actual standings. The only one making excuses is you! “It was a close game early on” sounds like an excuse to me. You keep going off on how the Lakers suck despite being 45-12. And I certainly didn’t come here to even make a comment until I saw it was Warrior fan anti Laker delousion hour. If you can’t handle the smoke that comes with bringing up the Lakers dont make the comment. Warriors ain’t spanking no one next year. You were the one telling us last summer how they were still going to be a good team haha. Every prediction Warrior fans make is wrong.
Dodgethis has been anti-Lebron for years and this skews his opinions of everything. Nobody is even worth being so misled over in the first place.
This is a typical problem for the anti-Lebron crowd. HWM is having to back off the AD-is-leaving stance because it makes little sense in the real world. Dodgethis will just be wrong several more times per post.
It’s interesting how everyone focuses on LeBron not playing, yet no one mentions that Wiggins was out for Golden State and they still made the game very close early on.
No one cares that Draymond got tossed. No one cares that Wiggins was hurt. No one cares it was a close game at halftime. Lakers won by 30 in a meaningless regular season game. The only people trying to take anything away from yesterday’s game are people with Laker derangement syndrome who have to nitpick every time a Laker breathes. And if your really going to attempt to dont choose the game that was a blowout in the 3rd.
Nobody will care where the Lakers finish in regular season if they don’t win the championship. Anything less is a lost season. You can’t tell me that they are any better than the other 8 teams out of the west.
Did you recently hit your head? I can say they are better than the other teams in the west because there is 5.5 games separating them from the next closet team. The Clippers are their only competition in the west. Get your head examined becauae you certainly need it.
@amk3510 You could just stop after “No one cares”
Perhaps true, except we would miss some gems then!
Just for the record, Dwight Howard gets 5.9 fouls per 36′ against a career avg of 3.5. The numbers say, yes he fouls, but yes, the refs are on to it.
Is this punishment enough? (Or, needed?) Pushing gets disrespected (properly, IMO) but does not generally cause injury. Bullying often works in pro sports, good or bad. Bullying can also be a distraction to the bully. I think refs take the long view and just “break it up” and with disinterest try to get back to their job.
