Celtics guard Marcus Smart is doing “great” after testing positive for the coronavirus, coach Brad Stevens told ESPN’s Tim Bontemps and other media members. “He’s great. Great spirits. Joking as always,” Stevens said Friday. Smart is one of 10 NBA players known to have tested positive for COVID-19. Smart revealed his diagnosis on March 19.
We have more from around the Atlantic Division:
- The Nets’ Rodions Kurucs was due in Brooklyn court on Monday for his misdemeanor assault case but that proceeding was postponed, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports. The case has been administratively adjourned due to the pandemic and a new date will eventually be set. Kurucs was arrested last summer on a domestic assault charge.
- There’s a general sense that Celtics forward Gordon Hayward will opt in to his contract next season, according to Sean Deveney of Heavy.com. Hayward holds a $34MM option. “It’s too much money to pass up,” an unnamed NBA GM told Deveney. “He could get a longer deal if that is what he really wants. But I don’t think the Celtics want to give it to him. … He can opt in this year and then take a big contract next year.”
- Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie will be in demand on the trade market this offseason, Lewis opines in a separate story. Dinwiddie, who can opt out after next season, has posted career highs in points (20.6 PPG) and assists (6.8 APG).
Spencer Dinwiddie to LA Clippers next season
For what?
Shametface
Hayward should stay. Will not make big money again. He was solid this yr. Dinwiddie could start for a lot of teams. Nets would be smart to move him now. Being Allen has issues too. They could really strengthen this team. For KD return next yr.
Gordan Hayward should move back home to Indy.
He could be the price to but them over the top and take them to the next level in the East.
Sign and trade Hayward (20mil) for Turner.
Turned would be perfect for the Celtics as he can shoot and block and rebound.
Lol why would Indy do that
Cause they won’t make it past the second round with this current team and getting Hayward makes them a better team..
Turner is good for 12/6/1 and 2 blocks which is garbage really… Hayward this year is putting up 17/6.5/4 while shooting 50/39/85 that’s while sharing touches with Tatum, Walker and Brown.
Brogdan Oladipo Hayward and Sabonis that’s potentially 4 all stars
You do know that Ben is trash right?
Ben?
Russ is million times better
Dinwiddie to Magic for A Gordon
That Magic roster is so poorly constructed. I don’t even know how they go about fixing it
Would be a good move for the Magic but a bad move for the Nets. Dinwiddie was almost putting up all star numbers while Kyrie was away and he was leading that team. Gordon although I like him has regressed since being moved to SF which I thought was a bad move.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Kyrie gets to pick Tyrone Lue as head coach of the Nets and then together they decide they don’t need Dinwiddie and they trade him for Kevin Love or something since all three worked together in Cleveland.
Kyrie LeVert Durant KLove and DeAndre Jordan with Jarrett Allen Prince Harris and a couple others off the bench sounds pretty strong.
