Italian Basketball Federation president Gianni Petrucci has stated that Italian leagues will finish the 2019/20 season after the coronavirus pandemic has been controlled, Nicola Lupo of Sportando reports.
“We’ll listen to what the government says, but our plan is to complete the current season and we’re studying different formats,” Petrucci said.
Across the rest of the world, including throughout other parts of Europe, several leagues have also been postponing or entirely shuttering their seasons, as Hoops Rumors has detailed over multiple posts. Much to the chagrin of its players, the Turkish BSL basketball league is also continuing play amidst the growing health crisis.
The timeline for the resumption of Italian Basketball Federation league play remains unclear.
Havent been hearing anyone talking about that, just continuing the season when everything is back to normal and either have short offseasons or keep the offseason slightly less than normal length and change the schedule gradually like that, over the next few offseasons, til its back where it needs to be. NBA could just keep this season going even if ends up going into 2021. The 19-20-21 season.
If Italy can keep going so can the NBA. Something seriously scares me about Silver wanting to cancel the season period and casuing a ripple effect to other sports.

Ok, let’s get perspective here: Italy is not going to resume playing any time soon. They are literally doing triage in hospitals, like a war zone. Dead bodies are languishing awaiting pickup for treatment for burial.
The death rate is akin to a civil war right now. I would be amazed if they started playing again, it would be a crazy waste of resources.
